FA Virtual Learning ePacket (FAVL)

Page 1

Greetings,

Thank you for your interest in Foundation Academy Virtual Learning(FAVL) for grades six through twelve.

In pursuit of educational excellence in assisting our community, the mission of this program is to extend Kingdom education, by using the digital learning environment, to assist parents by helping equip students to embrace biblical truth, strive for academic excellence and model Christ-like leadership to influence their homes, churches, and communities for Christ. Families choosing the FA Virtual Learning program would be committing to a full year of the program.

Our Partnership

Parents and guardians will have access to monitor the students' accounts to track their progress with their online courses. Each student may virtually meet with the assigned grade level academic advisor two times each academic school year. Our Director of FAVL will be here to provide support to our families by coordinating with Student Affairs to manage enrollment strategies, assist with course offerings, oversee the online courses, and coordinate opportunities for the students to attend on-campus after school activities including athletics and Fine Arts. Students successfully completing coursework with FAVL through twelfth grade will graduate with a Foundation Academy college preparatory diploma and may participate in the FA commencement ceremony.

The Courses

Unlike a traditional classroom, the online instructors do not lecture, and there is no live classroom component (asynchronous learning). Asynchronous learning allows a student to learn on their own schedule, within a designated time frame. Students can access and complete lectures, reading, homework, and other learning materials and activities at any time during the course’s predetermined time frame. Students are required to have their own computer or laptop along with speakers or headphones, a microphone, and a camera to complete coursework. Specific system requirements will be available at the time of acceptance.

The Instructors

Courses are facilitated by subject-certified Christian teachers who involve students through discussion forums, email, and scheduled calls, and chats. They are here to support the students by answering subject-related questions, grade non-computerized assessments, offer appropriate feedback, and encourage students to stay on target.

Characteristics of Successful Online Learners:

Ideal student candidates for online learning are students who are self-motivated, self-directed, comfortable using technology, and have reliable computer and internet access.

Proctored Exams

To guarantee academic integrity, students are required to have a proctor for semester exams. The school will indicate who your child’s exam proctor will be.

The Enrollment Process

If you are interested in applying please contact the admissions department at Tilden.Admissions@FoundationAcademy.net and they will be happy to assist you in your next steps to join our FAVL family.

1958 s

Foundation Academy ranks consistently among the top private Christian schools in Central Florida. Foundation Academy is proud to be a Kingdom Education school.

In 1958 Foundation Academy opened its doors to the students and families of Central Florida. We intended to treat and teach each child as a unique creation in Christ and partner with parents and the church to build a foundation for life; over 65+ years later, that remains true.

Foundation Academy, a K-3 through 12th-grade private Christian school, was founded in 1958 as a ministry of Winter Garden’s First Baptist Church. All grades were housed at the church campus until 2007, when the Upper School grades moved to a new 70-acre property in south Winter Garden. In 2019 a third campus began at Family Church Windermere, Lakeside campus, and served K - 6th grade. Currently, Foundation Academy serves 1100 students in grades K-3 through 12.
