Enjoy visiting the Hague

Day 1: UK to Amsterdam to Beverwijk.

Travel by coach from Folkestone via Eurotunnel or ferry and embark Spirit of the Rhine. Cruise to Beverwijk for an overnight mooring. Day 2: Beverwijk. Set of an included full-day excursion to Keukenhof gardens. Spread across 32 hectares, Keukenhof is described as ‘the most beautiful spring garden in the world’, and here you can admire a variety of show gardens and horticultural displays featuring many floral species, including tulips and hyacinths. After the day here, return to your ship, which departs at dinner and will cruise overnight to Rotterdam.

Day 3: Rotterdam to Kinderdijk.

An included tour this morning explores The Hague. Set on the North Sea coast, the Netherlands’ third largest city is both the administrative and royal capital. It features town squares and historic buildings – such as the 17th-century mansion of the Maritshuis museum. This afternoon, cruise to Kinderdijk, home to 19 UNESCO-listed windmills built between 1722 and 1761. Learn more about how a windmill works, visit the former steam pump station, Wisboom, and the historic waterboard house during an included excursion. Cruise overnight to Arnhem.

Day 4: Arnhem In the early hours of this morning you’ll arrive in Arnhem. Explore the city independently, join an optional visit to the Castle Gardens at Arcen, or see the sites associated with the events of Operation Market Garden during an optional Arnhem Commemoration tour. Depart Arnhem this evening.

Day 5: Lelystad to Enkhuizen.

Arrive during breakfast in Lelystad, a city built on land reclaimed from the inland sea, the Zuiderzee, in 1967. From here you travel to the lake village of Giethoorn for an included city tour this morning. Referred to as the ‘Venice of the Netherlands’, Giethoorn features distinctive thatched houses that line its network of canals. There are no roads or cars in the centre of the town, so locals use punts to get around. This afternoon you can choose to join an optional excursion to Bataviawerf, or enjoy an optional wooden shoe painting workshop. Cruise to Enkhuizen this evening where you will moor overnight. Day 6: Enkhuizen to Hoorn Enjoy some time to explore Enkhuizen this morning where you may like to join an optional visit to the Zuiderzee Museum. You'll then have the afternoon in Hoorn to see the 16th and 17thcentury town houses – the Dutch East India Company made it a wealthy trading town. There is the option to join either an optional walking tour or optional cycling tour. Cruise overnight to Amsterdam.

Day 7: Amsterdam Spend a full day in the Dutch capital. This morning you can join one of two included excursions: a culinary themed walking tour of Amsterdam or a sightseeing coach and canal cruise to see the Skinny Bridge, Montelbaanstoren tower and the Jewish Quarter. This afternoon you may choose to join an optional excursion to Volendam, Edam and the Katwoude cheese farm.

Day 8: Amsterdam to UK. Disembark Spirit of the Rhine after breakfast for your return journey or continue your holiday with an optional two-night hotel stay in Amsterdam.
