Day 1: UK to Paris. Travel to Paris via Eurostar and transfer to embark your ship this afternoon. Meet your fellow guests at a welcome drinks reception. After dinner on board, enjoy a thematic presentation: A Definition of Impressionism, its Origins, the Technique, and the Context, as you moor overnight in Paris. Day 2: Paris. After breakfast on board, travel to Auvers-sur-Oise and enjoy a guided audio tour of the château where Vincent van Gogh briefly lived and painted his well-known work The Church at Auvers. This afternoon you’ll have the chance to visit the Marmottan Museum in Paris, home to the world’s largest collection of paintings by Claude Monet – 66 in total. Return to your ship for dinner and enjoy a cruise through Paris by night. Day 3: Paris to Giverny. Cruise through the morning whilst enjoying a second thematic presentation: Claude Monet, the quintessence of Impressionism. This afternoon you’ll visit Claude Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny. Monet spent the last 43 years of his life here – the pink-painted house with its green shutters, the studios and the gardens, including the Japanese bridge and the famous lily pond, are all instantly recognisable from his paintings. This evening, enjoy a Guingette evening on board your ship. Day 4: Rouen. After cruising through the morning you'll arrive in Rouen after lunch. From the Vikings and Dukes of Normandy, to Flaubert and Monet, history permeates the old quarter, its tall, half-timbered houses, churches and parks, all carefully restored since the war. Look forward to a thematic guided tour following in the footsteps of the Impressionists, complete with a visit to the Musée des Beaux-Arts. This evening look forward to a gala dinner on board your ship. Day 5: Duclair to Honfleur. Spend the morning cruising along the most beautiful section of the Seine, past sleepy villages and picturesque countryside scenes which have inspired many painters. As you cruise, sit back and enjoy your third thematic presentation: The geography of Impressionism: Paris and the suburbs, Honfleur and the Noman coast. On arrival in Duclair, join an included excursion along the Norman Abbey Circuit, before setting sail for Honfleur this evening.
