A Few Other Details
All reservations are subject to Saga’s booking conditions which will be sent to you with your holiday confirmation and are available in advance upon request by visiting our website travel.saga.co.uk.
A note about pricing
On our river cruises we set aside a number of cabins on each cruise at discounted fares. These cabins are sold on first come first served basis and as the cabins are sold, the discount may be reduced. Our price panels clearly show the full cruise price, along with the current discounted fare. Please note during busy booking periods, the early booking discount can reduce rapidly, and although price panels were correct at the time of going to press we cannot guarantee that the discounted fares shown will still be available when you book. You will be advised of the latest price at the time of booking.
A note about special ofers
The ofers in this brochure supersede any previously advertised ofers and cannot be combined. Saga reserves the right to reduce, withdraw or extend ofers at any time.
Insurance policy
Because it’s important to be adequately insured when you travel abroad, we ofer optional comprehensive travel insurance, underwritten by Great Lakes Insurance SE, UK Branch, and additional cancellation rights with all our overseas holidays. If you are sufering from, or in the last 12 months have sufered from, an illness that has required treatment from a doctor, you must advise us, and we’ll confirm whether you can be covered under this insurance. A full summary of the optional travel insurance will be provided with your booking confirmation. Cover is available to UK residents only and subject to medical screening. Terms and conditions apply. If you have your own insurance, we will ofer you the holiday at a lower price. Changes to the itinerary
Some itineraries also operate in reverse order. Where this is the case we indicate it on the holiday pages and our Travel Consultants will be able to give you further details. As you would expect, the excursions and entertainment are an example of what may be available and are subject to demand – your Cruise Host or Assistant will give you full details during your cruise. The weather can afect river levels and sometimes this impacts on an itinerary. In the unlikely event of this happening we will do our utmost to ensure the cruise remains as close to its original itinerary as possible or we will ofer a suitable alternative if necessary. It is also sometimes necessary to close the outside deck when cruising through sections of river with very low bridges for safety reasons.
Transfers
On some occasions, due to the location of the river ports to the airports, a longer coach transfer is necessary. A note about berthing
At some of the more popular ports you may find your ship berths alongside other river cruise ships, which means the views from the windows can become obscured and you may have to walk through other ships to reach the riverbank. On rare occasions the berth will be located on the outskirts of town, a decision which is beyond our control and often made by the river authorities at that port.
Quality grading you can trust
Quality ratings vary considerably from country to country, so we apply our own reliable ratings, based on the variety of food, facilities and standard of cabins, with representing the finest. ratings are highlighted on each cruise page. Similarly, we give hotel accommodation our Q rating, with QQQQQ representing the finest.
Free Wi-Fi on selected ships
Free Wi-Fi is included on all vessels except the MS Surikov and Dnieper Princess. However, the signal can be intermittent due to the moving nature of the ships, and there may be times when it is not available. In some cases the Wi-Fi signal is only available in the public areas of the ship and not in your cabin.
A note about unassigned cabins
Our unassigned cabins can be a fantastic way to save money if you do not have a preference for a particular cabin number. You are guaranteed the minimum grade of accommodation on the ship, but your allocated cabin could be located anywhere on the ship. We may be unable to advise you of your cabin number and location on the ship until your arrival onboard. There is a chance you may be upgraded, but this is subject to availability. If you choose not to accept your allocated cabin, this will be treated as a cancellation and cancellation charges will apply. In such circumstances, if you have already arrived at the ship, you will not be entitled to a refund and you will be responsible for your return travel home.
Animal welfare
We strongly believe animals should be treated fairly within the tourism industry. As ABTA members, we have a duty of care to ensure that the excursions we ofer to our customers meet the Animal Welfare guidelines supplied by ABTA. These guidelines include not supporting activities that involve unnatural behaviour, or those that could be perceived as unacceptable or discouraged practices. We regularly review on-going excursions that involve animals, along with any feedback from customers and outside sources.
Distances and times
Please be aware that distances and timings provided in our holiday information are approximate and should be used as a guide.
Group sizes
On river cruise departures which are exclusive to Saga guests, the group size will generally be between about 40 and 170 guests depending on the size of the ship. On river cruise departures where Saga guests will be travelling with other guests, the group size could vary from very low numbers up to about 170 guests depending on the size of the ship and the itinerary.
Please note: The excursions we include as part of your holiday will be operated in English – either by an English-speaking guide or, where necessary, through headsets.
