Day 1: UK to Amsterdam to Beverwijk.

Travel by coach from Folkestone to Amsterdam via Eurotunnel or ferry and embark Rex Rheni. Enjoy a welcome reception and dinner as you spend the evening cruising to Beverwijk. Day 2: Beverwijk to Zaandam . Gardeners! You'll love this included full-day excursion to world-renowned Keukenhof gardens, which are ablaze with colourful flowers each Spring. View flower and plant shows in the pavilions and pick up ideas for your own garden from themed gardens here. Rejoin your ship at Zaandam this evening. Day 3: Zaandam to Enkhuizen. This morning explore Zaandam independently or join an optional tour to see the the historic village of Zaanse Schans. See the traditional houses, workshops and reconstructed windmills for an idea of what it was like to live here in the 18th and 19th centuries. This afternoon, cruise to Enkhuizen.

Day 4: Enkhuizen to Hoorn Discover picturesque Enkhuizen, a town made wealthy by its association with the Dutch East India Company, or join an optional morning excursion to Zuiderzee Museum. Depart at midday for Hoorn, where you can join an optional walking tour of the attractive harbour town where the founders of the Dutch East India Company resided as trade brought great wealth. Moor here in Hoorn overnight.

Day 5: Hoorn to Amsterdam Sail to Amsterdam, arriving with an afternoon to explore. It's easy to make your own way around this compact and pedestrian-friendly city – perhaps explore the Royal Palace, discover the wealth of art in one of the museums or see Anne Frank House. You may wish to join an optional culinary walking tour of Amsterdam, or join an optional city tour and a canal cruise that fits in as much sightseeing as possible! Day 6: Amsterdam to UK. Disembark Rex Rheni after breakfast and return to the UK.

Joining April 26, 2022 departures Hart Dyke, known as ‘The Plant Hunter’, first leapt to international prominence in 2000, when he was kidnapped while trekking in the Colombian jungle. He and travelling companion Paul Winder were seeking a rare plant in the Darien Gap before they were captured by local guerrillas and held for nine months. It was during his time in captivity, after being told to prepare to die, that he designed the World Garden of Plants to occupy his mind. After his release he turned his vision into reality at Lullingstone Castle, Kent, which contains some 8,000 species, many collected by Hart Dyke from remote corners of the globe.
