Italy
Just a ferry ride from Naples, a choice of paradisiacal islands awaits. The most popular in the bay is Capri, synonymous with the rich and famous and surrounded by deep-blue seas that fringe the pristine beaches. This luxurious spot of land is as polished as you’d expect. Whether you enjoy its beauty from the top of Monte Solaro or the tapered back streets of Anacapri, you’re sure to corroborate romantic verses from the many literary figures that have used Capri for inspiration.

Two of the other islands in the Campanian Archipelago are Ischia and Procida – both of which can match Capri’s stunning vistas and serene setting. Ischia is the largest and the perfect option if you want to relax. The island is blooming with flora that doesn’t usually grow in this climate, but is nourished by the hot springs that bubble up from underground. This volcanic destination is bursting with five-star hotels, crumbling fortifications and secluded beaches. You’ll pass Procida en-route to Ischia, but it’s definitely worth stopping off if you get the chance. Multi-coloured houses make it reminiscent of the nearby Amalfi Coast, a panorama often chosen by film directors to portray an idyllic scene. Small and easily explored, Procida flies somewhat under the radar, a trait you’ll adore as you walk the streets of Marina Corricella or the medieval lanes of Terra Murata.
