Fotoplastykon Poznański Fotoplastykon, nazywany przez Zbigniewa Herberta „wielką brązową beczką”, służy do prezentowania trójwymiarowych zdjęć – stereofotografii, czyli dwóch niemal identycznych wizerunków, które układ optyczny mechanizmu przetwarza w jeden przestrzenny obraz.

Za pierwowzór maszyny uznaje się wynaleziony przez Aloisa Polaneckiego tzw. salon stereoskopowy, który był przenośną atrakcją pokazywaną na jarmarkach. Pierwszy prawdziwy fotoplastykon skonstruował August Fuhrmann. Urządzenie, nazywane również Kaiser-Panoramą (cesarską panoramą), uruchomiono po raz pierwszy w 1883 r.

Początki Fotoplastykonu Poznańskiego giną w mroku historii. Pierwsza wzmianka na temat poznańskiej Kaiser-Panoramy pochodzi z 1907 r., jednak był to najprawdopodobniej inny aparat niż ten, który przetrwał do dziś. Istnieją również informacje o fotoplastykonie działającym w stolicy Wielkopolski od 1923 r., jednak są one niepotwierdzone.

Pewne jest, że znane dzisiaj urządzenie pojawiło się w naszym mieście po II wojnie światowej jako własność państwa Silskich. Dostępne początkowo przy ul. Piekary 19, pod koniec 1950 r. przeniesione zostało do lokalu przy ul. Armii Czerwonej 53 (dzisiaj ul. Święty Marcin). Na początku lat 70. fotoplastykon nabył poznański fotografik, Władysław Rut, a w 1982 r. odziedziczył go jego syn – również twórca – Antoni Rut, który założył galerię „Fotoplastykon” funkcjonującą do 2005 r. Niestety, początek nowego millenium przyniósł zapomnienie tej wiekowej konstrukcji i właściciel był zmuszony zdeponować ją w piwnicy.

Na krótko aparaturę umieszczono w przestrzeni centrum handlowego Stary Browar podczas trwania 6. edycji Biennale Fotografii w 2009 r. Nowe narodziny poznańskiej Kaiser-Panoramy przypadają na 2014 r., kiedy urządzenie stało się własnością Wydawnictwa Miejskiego Posnania. Umieszczony początkowo w Galerii Miejskiej Arsenał na Starym Rynku, Fotoplastykon Poznański obecnie cieszy oczy swoim wyglądem i prezentowanymi stereofotografiami w zabytkowym gmachu Arkadii przy ul. Ratajczaka 44.

Poznań’s Fotoplastykon The Fotoplastykon, dubbed “the big brown drum” by the poet Zbigniew Herbert, is a device used to display stereoscopic photographs. It converts two nearly identical images into a single 3D picture by means of its optical mechanism.

The prototype of the machine is the so-called stereoscopic salon. Invented by Alois Polanecky, it was shown as a mobile attraction at fairs. The first true photoplasticon, known also as the kaiserpanorama (or emperor’s panorama), was constructed by August Fuhrmann in 1883.

The origins of Poznań’s Fotoplastykon are murky and mysterious. The first mention of this kaiserpanorama dates back to 1907, although it most likely does not refer to the same device that has survived to the present day. Other reports speak of a kaiserpanorama in operation in the capital of Wielkopolska since 1923, but there is no evidence to back this up.

What is certain is that the device we know today arrived in Poznań after World War II and belonged to the Silski family. Initially set up at ul. Piekary 19, it was moved to ul. Armii Czerwonej 53 (today’s ul. Święty Marcin) in late 1950. In the early 1970s, the Fotoplastykon was purchased by the Poznań photographer Władysław Rut. His son, Antoni Rut, also an artist, inherited it from his father in 1982. Antoni Rut set up the “Fotoplastykon” gallery, which has been in operation since 2005. Unfortunately, with the start of the new millenium, the vintage device fell into oblivion, forcing its owner to place it in storage in a basement.

The machine was briefly displayed in the Stary Browar (Old Brewery) shopping mall during the Photography Biennale in 2009. The Poznań kaiserpanorama was brought back to life in 2014, after it was acquired by Wydawnictwo Miejskie Posnania (Posnania Municipal Publishing House). Placed initially in the Arsenał City Gallery in the Stary Rynek (Old Market Square), the Poznań Photoplasticon pleases the eye through its appearance and through its stereoscopic photographs in the historic Arkadia building on ul. Ratajczaka 44.

Das Posener Kaiserpanorama Der polnische Dichter Zbigniew Herbert hat das Kaiserpanorama einmal als „großes braunes Fass“ bezeichnet; es dient dazu, dreidimensionale Fotos zu zeigen: Stereofotografien, also zwei fast identische Aufnahmen, die das optische System des Mechanismus zu einem räumlichen Bild zusammenfügt.

Als Vorbild dieser Maschinen gilt der von Alois Polanecky erfundene sog.

Stereoskopische Salon, der als mobile Attraktion auf den Jahrmärkten des späten 19. Jahrhunderts vorgeführt wurde. Das erste wirkliche Kaiserpanorama (auch als „Photoplastikon“ bezeichnet) konstruierte August Fuhrmann. Das Gerät wurde erstmals im Jahre 1883 in Betrieb genommen.

Wann das Posener Kaiserpanorama entstand, ist nicht bekannt. Seine erste Erwähnung stammt aus dem Jahre 1907, aber dabei handelte es sich höchstwahrscheinlich um einen anderen Apparat als den, der sich bis heute erhalten hat. Nach anderen, unbestätigten Berichten soll in der Hauptstadt Großpolens seit 1923 ein Kaiserpanorama in Betrieb gewesen sein.

Sicher ist, dass das heute bekannte Gerät nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in Posen auftauchte. Es gehörte den Eheleuten Silski, die es zunächst in der ul. Piekary 19 zeigten, später ab Ende 1950 in einem Raum an der damaligen Straße der Roten Armee 53 (heute: ul. Święty Marcin). Anfang der 1970er Jahre erwarb der Posener Fotografiker Władysław Rut das Gerät, und von ihm erbte es 1982 sein Sohn Antoni. Auch er war künstlerisch aktiv und gründete die „Kaiserpanorama-Galerie“. Sie war bis 2005 geöffnet, aber Anfang dieses Jahrhunderts geriet die hundertjährige Konstruktion in Vergessenheit, und der Eigentümer war gezwungen, sie in einem Keller abzustellen.

Vorübergehend wurde der Apparat während der 6. Ausgabe der Fotografie-Biennale im Einkaufszentrum „Alte Brauerei“ ausgestellt. Doch die zweite Geburt des Posener Kaiserpanoramas fällt in das Jahr 2014. Damals übernahm der Städtische Verlag Posnania das Gerät und zeigte es zunächst in der städtischen Kunstgalerie „Arsenal“ auf dem Posener Altmarkt. Heute erfreut das Posener Kaiserpanorama Technikfreaks und Liebhaber alter Stereofotografien im denkmalgeschützten Gründerzeitgebäude der „Arkadia“ in der Posener ul. Ratajczaka 44, am oberen Ende des Freiheitsplatzes (plac Wolności).
