Biography elio ciol

Elio Ciol è nato nel 1929 a Casarsa della Delizia (PN), dove tuttora risiede e lavora.

Ha iniziato a lavorare fin da giovane nel laboratorio fotografico del padre. Ha acquisito una vasta esperienza tecnica e ha maturato un suo modo di leggere le opere d’arte e di esprimersi attraverso la fotografia, segnatamente nel paesaggio.

Nella ricerca costante di nuove tecniche e di nuove forme di linguaggio per immagini ha fatto parte dal 1955 al 1965 del cineclub di Udine. Ha realizzato vari documentari, a passo ridotto, premiati al Concorso Nazionale del Cineamatore di Montecatini e al Concorso Internazionale del Cineamatore di Salerno.

Dal 1955 al 1960 ha fatto parte del circolo fotografico “La Gondola” di Venezia.

Nel 1962 ha partecipato come fotografo di scena al film “Gli ultimi” di Vito Pandolfi e P.D.M. Turoldo.

Nel 1963, a Milano, ha collaborato con Luigi Crocenzi alla realizzazione della “Fondazione Arnaldo e Fernando Altimani per lo studio e la sperimentazione sul linguaggio per immagini”.

Nello stesso anno ha esposto all’Ambrosianeum di Milano le foto di un suo servizio sull’attività di Gioventù Studentesca nella Bassa Milanese.

Numerose le sue mostre fotografiche in Italia e all’estero. Molto significative l’antologica del 1999 voluta dai Civici Musei e dal Comune di Udine nel grandioso spazio espositivo della Chiesa di S. Francesco e quella promossa dal Comune di Padova, nel 2002, nel Palazzo del Monte di Pietà.

Nel 2004 la Provincia di Pordenone e il Comune di Casarsa Della Delizia hanno promosso una mostra di sue nuove fotografie raccolte in dittici e trittici, e per l’occasione è stato realizzato il convegno sul collezionismo fotografico: La memoria ambigua.

Nel 2006 è stato invitato a esporre nel Museo Diocesano e Gallerie del Tiepolo a Udine.

Elio Ciol was born in 1929 in Casarsa della Delizia (Italy), where he still lives and works.

In his early youth he began to work in his father’s photography workshop.

He has acquired a vast technical experience and has reached a personal way of seeing and expressing himself through photography, especially in landscapes.

In his persistent pursuit of new techniques and forms of expression through images, he was a member of the Udine film society from 1955 to 1965.

He made several 16mm documentaries, which won awards at the Montecatini National Film Amateur Competition and at the Salerno International Film Amateur Competition.

From 1955 to 1960 he was a member of Venice’s “The Gondola” Photographers’ Club.

In 1962 he took part as a set photographer in the making of the film Gli ultimi by Vito Pandolfi and Padre D.M. Turoldo.

In 1963, in Milan he collaborated with Luigi Crocenzi in the creation of the “Arnaldo and Fernando Altimani Foundation for the study and experimentation of language through images”.

In the same year the Milan Ambrosianeum exhibited his photo service on the activities of “Gioventù Studentesca” in the province of Milan.

Ciol has held many exhibitions in Italy and abroad. The most important were his 1999 anthological show in Udine, wanted by the Civici Musei and the City di Udine in the grand space of the Church of St. Francis, and the exhibition in the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà, in Padua, promoted by the City of Padua, in 2002.

In 2004, the Province of Pordenone and the Municipality of Casarsa promoted an exhibit of his new photos, Il fascino del vero, collected in diptychs and triptychs, and in the same venue was also promoted the conference on photo collecting: La memoria ambigua.

Nel 2006 la Cohen Amador Gallery di New York ha esposto una sua mostra personale.

Nel 2007 è stato invitato al “Meeting per l’amicizia tra i popoli” di Rimini, assieme a Pepi Merisio, per un’antologica.

In 2006 he was invited by the Udine Diocesan Museum and the Tiepolo Gallery to display his photos.

In the same year the New York Gallery of Cohen Amador organized an exhibition of Ciol’s work.

In 2007 Ciol was invited by the “Meeting per l’amicizia fra i popoli” of Rimini to exhibit an anthology of his works together with the photographer Pepi Merisio.

He has been awarded various prizes in recognition of his activity.
