Why is the 930 turbo called the Widowmaker?
The 930 proved very fast but also very demanding to drive, and due to its short wheelbase and rear engine layout, was prone to oversteer and turbo-lag. It acquired the nickname “the Widowmaker” after several crashes and deaths attributed to its handling characteristics, which were unfamiliar to many drivers.
The Porsche 911 is one of the most recognized sports cars out there. The model has a long and proud history that spans more than half a century. One of the 911’s biggest highlights, however, is the 930 Turbo, which is one of the most famous 911 models ever made, and for more than a few reasons. Here’s all you need to know about the iconic, rear-engine sports car of the 1970s and 1980s You probably know this if you are a Porsche fanatic, but it’s worth mentioning that this is the beginning of

The Jesko is named after Jesko von Koenigsegg, the father of company Founder and CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg. It features a redesigned 5.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 1280 hp on standard gasoline and 1600 hp on E85 biofuel (in some markets) alongside the revolutionary new 9-speed Koenigsegg LightSpeed Transmission (LST) system. Advanced aerodynamics offer over 1000 kg of downforce, making it the ultimate track weapon. LST consists of nine forward gears and seven wet, multi-disc clutches in one compact, ultra-light package. The LST is capable of upward and downward gear changes at near light speed thanks to the simultaneous opening and closing of clutches that allows for totally seamless acceleration and deceleration. That LST gear changes can occur in virtually zero time between adjacent gears is impressive. Staying ahead of the curve in a very

It’s an endurance sport. It’s a spectator thrill. The fastest cars of 2022 offer something for everyone. The fact that they’re only getting faster excites each of us, as we watch fast-beyondwords cars vie for that most longedafter title: the fastest car in the world. This year’s cars are lighter, sleeker, and more powerful than any that have come before. Now boasting top speeds far beyond the previous ‘golden threshold’ of 300mph (480kph), the
Though extremely rare and expensive, hypercars are all the rage these days. One company leading the way for these ultra-high performance rides is Koenigsegg, and one of its recent cars isn’t just the fastest one it’s ever made, but the fastest the company will ever make. The super-fast car in question is the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut. Notably, Koenigsegg unveiled the car in 2020 at the same time as one of its other new cars, the Gamera. However, the automaker didn’t build the first one until early 2022. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is notable because it’s supposed to be the highspeed variant of the Jesko. But, of course, the Jesko itself is a superfast car, which means the Absolut

People know Koenigsegg for quite a few things. Still, the company has most notably established itself as an automaker that makes superfast and powerful rides. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is one of the most recent examples of this level of automotive prowess. This hypercar packs a 5.0-liter V8. The engine has a flat-plane crankshaft and double overhead camshafts. Its maximum output is 1,600 horsepower at 7,800 rpm with the use of E85. The car has a max torque of 1,106 lb-ft at 5100 rpm. The transmission on the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is a 9-speed Light Speed Transmission(LST). The Absolute has an in-house control module with Ultimate Power on

Remember the 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nür that was set to be auctioned off in Japan by BH Auction? Well, that auction has concluded and the car in question has set a new record for the highest price ever paid for a R34 GT-R. The winning bid? A cool 60,500,001 yen (including taxes) or around RM2.3 million! That’s considerably more than the starting price of 50 million yen (around RM1.9 million) that was shown on the car’s official listing on Yahoo! Auctions. However, this isn’t the first time that this particular R34 Skyline GT-R hit an auction block, as back in 2018, BH Auction sold it for 35.2 million yen (around RM1.34 million) There have been expensive R34 GT-Rs sold in the past, with a V-Spec in Midnight Purple II fetching USD315,187 (around RM1.32 million) last month on Bring a Trailer.
V-Spec in Midnight Purple II fetching USD315,187 (around RM1.32 million) last month on Bring a Trailer. An ultra-rare Nismo Z-Tune (only 19 units were made) was also sold by Contempo Concept HK Motors for USD510,000 (around RM2.14 million). Meanwhile, JDM Expo listed a V-Spec II Nür last year for USD485,000 (around RM2.03 million), although that vehicle is still for sale. So, what makes this V-Spec II Nür special for it to attract bids that led to its final price tag? For one, this nearly20-year-old unit was never registered and it only has 10 km on its odometer, making it essentially a brand-new car. The V-Spec II Nür is also a relatively rare specification, as the Nür package was offered by Nissan as an upgrade package for only the V-Spec II and M-Spec grades of the R34 Skyline. According to Bingo Media, which
Cars that got Nür treatment featured a 300 km/h speedometer, a carbon-fibre bonnet, stiffer suspension, beefier brakes, special badging, a gold valve cover and gold VIN plate. More importantly, the Nür models featured an improved version of the RB26DETT 2.6 litre twin-turbo straight-six based on the N1 racing engine. This came with a host of mechanical changes to improve durability, including larger turbochargers with steel turbine blades instead of ceramic ones, thicker cylinder walls, upgraded oil and water pumps as well as stronger connecting rods, among other things. It’s not often that a fine example like this pops up for sale often, but do you think the price is justified? Check out the video posted above for a tour of this time capsule and let us know your thoughts in the comments below. If you fancy paying a

SMOKEY NAGATA’S V12 TWIN TURBO TOYOTA SUPRA
The Japanese street racing scene has spawned several insane vehicles over the years. One that has left the automotive world in awe in the recent past is the legendary V12-Powered Top Secret Toyota Supra. The car is powered by a twin-turbo V12 sourced from a Toyota Century and has a top speed of 222 mph. Basically, it’s about as ridiculous as a Supra can get.
Top Secret founder Kazuhiko “Smokey” Nagata drove the car to 222 mph at Italy’s Nardo test track after it was converted to V12 power in 2008, but that wasn’t his most well-known performance behind the
most well-known performance behind the wheel. Smokey took the Supra to the UK in 1999 and claimed a top speed of 197 mph on the A1...in the rain, something that was noted to be highly impressive but highly illegal. He was apprehended and thrown in jail after being pulled over. Smokey Nagata’s imprisonment was at Her Majesty’s Pleasure, which translates to “we’re going to keep you in jail indefinitely.”
Fortunately, Smokey only spent one night in a British cell, a relatively light sentence that, quite frankly, would never have happened today. The day after his release, Smokey booked the next flight back to Japan, and word of his doubleton run – documented on high-definition VHS – began making the rounds in the underground racing scene, and thus a

That UK top-speed run took place when Supra still had its original inline-six engine and standard(ish) bodywork. Smokey and Top Secret transformed it into a V12powered wide-body monster for the 2007 Tokyo Auto Salon, owing to their dissatisfaction with the then-stagnant OEM Japanese pmance-ket. Remember that the Nissan GT-R was still in

Mad Mike’s second pro-specification competition car build is also the only one to still retain its original race motor configuration – a triple-rotor 20B with a single turbocharger. Of all the cars that Whiddett has campaigned, he’s had the most success with BADBUL, standing on the podium at every round of the D1NZ National Championship in 2009 and also taking out the NZ Drift Series title the same year. In 2010, the RX-8 was shipped off to the USA for the Kiwi’s first full season of Formula Drift, and in the years
Originally built for Mike to contest the 2015 Formula Drift Pro Championship after a five-year hiatus from the US series, RADBUL took Mazda’s iconic MX-5 platform to a never-before-seen level. Equipped with a custom-built, twin-turbo four-rotor 26B engine that produced more than 1,200hp, right out of the gate the MX-5 was a force to be reckoned with in competition. In only its second year of competition, Mike claimed third overall in the 2016 Formula Drift World Championship. To celebrate his tenth anniversary with Red Bull, Whiddett had his fans vote on a new engine setup to be packaged with the car’s fourth generation overhaul. With a throwback vibe that extends to its appearance and mechanical underpinnings, it’s his favourite upgrade thus far. “We put everything we had into this car and built arguably the craziest pro-spec drift car on the planet. It was insanely fast but it was also dangerous, something I learned very early on when I crashed it at nearly 200km/h and put myself in hospital while shooting for its reveal film
‘RADBUL Conquers Highlands’. “Now with the 20B-PP engine, it’s so much fun to drive. Although

It may be hard to believe that the Nissan Skyline that we all know and love today wasn’t even a Nissan at first. The very first Skyline models came from the company Prince, which manufactured and sold them before their eventual merge with Nissan and Datsun. After the merger, Nissan decided that they wanted to take their compact racing, resulting in the original Skyline 2000GT-R.
Also known as the Hakosuka, the KPGC10 generation Skyline GT-R won over 1,000 races by the time Nissan discontinued it. The GT-R nameplate continued well into the ‘60s and ‘70s, but then it went on hiatus. After that 16-year hiatus. GT-R finally returned in 1989, this time with the

The R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R is the third generation of Nissan’s iconic homologation special. Even though the generations between the C110 and the R32 had some sort of GT version, the actual GT-R didn’t reappear until 1989 and the R32. R32 obviously refers to its chassis code, which is actually BNR32.
The R32 GT-R rode on the same platform as the regular R32 Skyline, which also came in sedan form. The GT-R was, of course, the only one to offer two doors, and the iconic twin-turbo engine with AWD. It was also completely unstoppable on the racetrack, much like its grandfather, meaning it. quickly earned the nickname Godzilla.
