The Centre is currently seeking to fill the following position: (ONE) TEMPORARY FULL TIME CULTURAL COORDINATOR Union Position Approximate Duration: February 2016 – May 2017 Varied hours of work, including evenings and weekends Salary: $43,856 - $53,358 Responsibilities:

The Cultural Co-ordinator carries out duties as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within the New Experiences Program and agency as required. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of groups, the provision of addiction and mental health services to individuals and families, and consultation to youth/families, co-workers and other agencies. The Cultural Coordinator is required to work with diverse populations and work towards the inclusion of minority groups. This worker will incorporate Anishinabek traditions and values in all aspects of group, family, individual and consultation work with clients and agencies.

Qualifications:

The Cultural Coordinator position requires a degree/diploma in Native Family Services or Aboriginal Studies or a degree/diploma in Social Work and/or Child and Youth Work.

Three to five years of experience working with Aboriginal youth and their families in the children’s mental health, addictions or related field of practice is required. The position also requires a license from appropriate professional college, knowledge and experience in working with tradition healing practices, knowledge of the range of theories and experience in working with families and children who require addictions and mental health services, the ability to effectively communicate within an organizational environment, and a valid Ontario Driver's License. The ability to communicate in Ojibway, Oji-Cree and/or Cree is also an asset.

Family Support Worker – One Year Contract Under the general direction of the FWFN Chief and Council, with direct supervision provided by the Health Centre Manager, provides child and family support and prevention services to the Fort William First Nation community.

Program Work:

Land Code Development Committee INVITATION TO THE MEMBERSHIP Fort William First Nation will be developing a Land Code for ratification by the membership. The development process is anticipated to be completed by December 31st, 2017 with a vote by the membership to be held in the fall of 2017.

Fort William First Nation is establishing a Land Code Development Committee to develop the Land Code, hold community consultation meetings, prepare the initial list of eligible voters, locate eligible voters, and develop the community ratification process document. The Land Code Development Committee will begin orientation meetings in March 2016 and complete the process of ratification of the land code in December 2017.

Fort William First Nation Council is requesting letters of interest from members who may be interested in a seat on the land code development committee.

Council anticipates a minimum of One (1) meeting(s) per month.

The selection process will be based on community representation and (1) person per family group.

Any member who may wish to tender their name for the Land Code Development Committee is requested to submit a letter of interest with a brief biography to the Chief and Council. Live Streaming-Chief & Council Meetings

Fort William First Nation Registered Band Members now have the capacity to view FWFN Chief and Council meetings live on www.fwfn.com effective, Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 5:30 p.m.

In order to start this process, there are a couple steps that need to be taken first.

1. Go to www.fwfn.com , click on the yellow BROADCASTS link at the top of the home page.

2. You will need to create an account to access this Member ONLY porthole. Click on New User.

3. Fill out the New User Registration page including your Status Card Number. The registrations are held for approval by the Communications Officer.

4. Once you have been approved for access, follow the same process as Step 1.

5. Then enter your user name and password, you will be redirected to the BROADCASTS page where you will find the current Council Agenda (posted prior to the meeting) and the Live Stream viewer.

6. Council will begin live streaming at 5:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on the scheduled date of the Council Meeting.

Please note: Submission of your Status Card # is ONLY needed for the initial sign up registration process and is not

required for any subsequent log in.
