TheprocessforapplyingforascholarshipatFSMisthesameforbothYear7and Year9.Thenumberofscholarshipawardsfortheschoolisnotfixedbutisbased uponperformanceandmeritrelativetothesizeandstrengthofthefield. Exceptionalcandidatesmaybeconsideredformorethanonescholarship.The valueofanyscholarshipisatthediscretionoftheHeadmaster.

Unlikeourotherscholarships,AcademicScholarshipsareawardedbytheHeadandyou donotapply.TheHeadwillreviewavarietyofevidencewhenconsideringcandidates, forexampleassessmentresults,recentschoolreportsandreferencesfromschoolstaff. Forthoseseekingtojointheschool,thiswillincludetheresultsofassessments conductedaspartoftheadmissionsprocess.

InYears7-8,weensureeachAcademicScholarhasamentor(assignedbasedonthe pupils’interestsandstrengths),whowillmeeteachoftheirmenteesregularlyto supportandextendtheirloveofaparticularsubject/field.Ourprimaryambitionisnot toburdenthemwithextraworkbuttofurtherigniteandsparkinterestandextendtheir understandingaboveandbeyondwhatcanbeprovidedintheclassroom.
AstheyprogressintoYears9andbeyond,wewillmentorourAcademicScholarsto completetheHigherProjectQualification(HPQ),whichisequivalenttohalfaGCSE.
