APPROVED TAX RATE AND BUDGET
Forney City Council approved the FY 2026 budget and adopted the nonew-revenue tax rate of $0.421431 for the 2025 tax year. The no-newrevenue tax rate is the rate that ensures the City collects the same amount of property tax revenue from the same properties as in the previous year. For tax year 2025, this means the City of Forney will collect the same tax revenue from existing properties as it did in tax year 2024. View the approved budget here: FY26 Budget
UPDATED POLICE AND FIRE AGREEMENTS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2026
Council approved a Resolution revising the Meet and Confer Agreements with both the Forney Police Association and the Forney Professional Firefighters’ Association for Fiscal Year 2026. The Police Agreement includes updates to assignment, bilingual, and education pay, hiring preferences for certified officers, lateral entry opportunities, and a revised pay plan that provides a 7–9% increase across pay grades with 4–5% between steps. It also adds shift differential pay, access to a prior sick leave bank for officers with 15 years of service, and a revised promotional process that incorporates assessment centers.
The Firefighters’ Agreement addresses association business leave, compensation adjustments with an 8% across-the-board increase and 5% between steps, Fire Marshal’s Office on-call pay, and a fitness incentive program. It also includes provisions related to hiring and recruitment, the promotional process and rank structure, sick leave payout, and supplemental pay.
PORTILLO’S SITE PLAN APPROVED
MEETING DATE: SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2025 The October 7 City Council meeting has been canceled due to National Night Out activities. The next City Council meeting will be held on October 21.
City Council approved a site plan for Portillo’s Hot Dogs, to be located in the Village at Gateway north of U.S. Highway 80 and west of North Gateway Boulevard. Portillo’s, a Chicago-based restaurant group known for its hot dogs, Italian beef, and other classics, will develop the currently vacant 2.71-acre property, which is zoned for restaurants under the Village at Gateway planned development ordinance approved in January 2024.
