2024 ANNUAL CRIME REPORT

CONGRATULATIONS, COUNCIL MEMBER CHAMBERS!

Council Member Cecil Chambers was sworn in during Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Congratulations on your re-election to Place 2, and thank you for your service to our community!

Chief of Police Carrie White presented the 2024 Annual Crime Report, providing a detailed overview of Forney’s crime statistics and comparisons to previous years. The full report presentation can be viewed here, and a video of Chief White’s remarks is available here.

MAYOR PRO TEM GREG HELM

The City Council voted to appoint Greg Helm as Mayor Pro Tem. The Mayor Pro Tem acts as the presiding officer in the mayor's absence and is responsible for stepping in to fulfill the mayoral duties and responsibilities whenever necessary. Mr. Helm will serve in this role for a one-year term. Congratulations!

CITY COUNCIL APPROVES GRANT FUNDING FOR SIDEWALK AND TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS

City Council approved a resolution accepting grant funding from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for two major improvement projects. The first grant, awarded to the Engineering Department, will fund Downtown Sidewalk Improvements. TxDOT has accepted the department’s preliminary application and will provide $1,097,112 in funding, with the City contributing a required match of $219,422.

Additionally, the Parks Department received grant funding for the Forney Southern Extension Shared Use Path. This project will extend the path from FM 548 to Gold Finch Lane. TxDOT will provide $4,642,658 for this initiative, with a required City match of $928,532.
