POPEYES AND HOME DEPOT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS ACCEPTED

Council approved the acceptance of public improvements for the Popeyes Restaurant Project at FM 548 & Ridgecrest and the Home Depot retail project at 11350 W. US Hwy 80. Accepting public improvements means the city has inspected and approved infrastructure and utilities built as part of the projects. This marks one of the final steps before both businesses can open, and we’re excited to welcome them to Forney soon!

COUNCIL APPROVES PHASE TWO OF MULBERRY PARK BASEBALL FIELD REDESIGN

Council approved a resolution authorizing a Professional Services Agreement with Pierce-Murray Land Solutions, LLC for Phase Two of the Mulberry Park Baseball Field Redesign. This project addresses drainage issues that have caused standing water on several fields by improving grading and leveling to promote proper runoff. The work will focus on Fields 6, 9, and 10, continuing efforts that began with Phase One earlier in 2025. Accepting this agreement allows the city to move forward with engineering design plans and drainage improvements.

COUNCIL AWARDS CONTRACT FOR SANITARY SEWER UPGRADE

Council approved a resolution awarding a contract to Insituform Technologies, LLC for the Sanitary Sewer Pipe Bursting Project (CIP 281). The project will upgrade an existing 12-inch sanitary sewer main to a 16-inch line near Walmart and Lowe’s, increasing system capacity to support the city’s continued growth. The work also includes a bid alternate for the replacement and rehabilitation of four manholes.

COUNCIL APPROVES TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES FOR FORNEY POLICE DEPARTMENT

Council approved two resolutions authorizing Master Service and Purchasing Agreements with Axon Enterprise, Inc. to enhance technology within the Forney Police Department. The first agreement establishes the Next-Generation Drone as First Responder (DFR) Program, which will replace the department’s aging drones with advanced equipment capable of providing real-time aerial footage before officers arrive on scene. This initiative will improve officer safety, situational awareness, and emergency response capabilities. The second agreement upgrades the camera equipment and software for the Criminal Investigations Division, replacing an unreliable system with modern, cloud-based technology that integrates seamlessly with the department’s existing body-worn and in-car camera systems.
