Scoring the first EFL goal for Rovers, finding the net at Wembley, and scoring a worldie against Cheltenham Town, Christian Doidge talks through his best Forest Green goals.
Goal One - v Cheltenham Town (April 14th, 2018)
“When you’re playing in a derby you always want to get the win. I had a great relationship with Reuben [Reid] that year and he set me up this day.
"It’s certainly up there. I don’t score many from a a volley or that far out. When I scored, I thought it was a lot further out than it was!”
Goal Two - v Barnet (August 5th, 2017)
“It was a great occasion with being the clubs first time in the Football league and to get off the mark with two goals was a great feeling.
"It was very full that day, the crowd were amazing, and you want to get off the mark as quickly as possible so I’m glad I did that.”
Goal Three - v Wrexham (March 18th, 2017)
"I remember I had a little look up at the goalkeeper, I could see him flying out and it was a really windy day so I tried to hit it
so the wind could assist it.
“Out of the five goals it’s probably my least favourite because there was less meaning on the game. It’s in there because it’s from far out and I don’t score many from there!”
Goal Four - v Dagenham & Redbridge (May 7th, 2017)
“This was a massive game, and I played for Dagenham the year before so there was a lot of pressure to play well.
“I just remember full time well. All of my friends coming on the pitch and they were buzzing to get that big day out at Wembley.”
Goal Five - v Tranmere Rovers (May 14th, 2017)
"Wembley’s a big old pitch, and as soon as [Liam] Noble got it out wide, I knew he liked to switch the play, I’ve took it as wide as possible and it was one of those surreal moments where it all slowed down.
“When I watch it back, I remember like I’d absolutely smashed it, but it doesn’t look like I’ve hit it that hard in the video!
“It was a great day, a great feeling, and we’re hoping we’ll be able to do it again this year.”
Forest Green Rovers look to get back to winning ways as we welcome Solihull Moors to The New Lawn ahead of our lunchtime National League meeting.
During our most recent meeting with the Moors, a second half Teddy Jenks strike was enough to earn all three points for Rovers during our 1-0 win in the West Midlands.
Since our meeting back in September, have battled in a mid-table position but have recently started to fall into the bottom half of the table.
Just one win in 2025 and in their last 14 games has seen Solihull drop to 16th in the National League.
A 52nd minute penalty secured a point on Tuesday night away at Altrincham following a 3-0 defeat to Yeovil Town on Saturday.
Away from home, Solihull are winless in their last seven and have won just five games on the road all season.
The Moors saw former manager Adam Whing depart the club after almost two years for League Two side Barrow back in January.
Whing’s successor was swiftly hired in the form of former Shrewsbury Town and Walsall manager, Matt Taylor.
Taylor departed fellow National League side, Wealdstone, to take up the vacant seat in the West Midlands and has since overseen just one win since his appointment.
The 32-year-old versatile central midfielder has been one of the their most lethal sources of productivity chipping in with nine assists this season.
In his last five games, Jamey Osborne has recorded two assists and scored his only goal of the season back on Boxing Day during his sides 1-0 win over Boston United.
Versatile Osborne can drop into a back three, which he did during the Moors 3-0 loss to Yeovil, but has also been seen to play higher up the field to aid his attackers.
Solihull Moors FC was founded in 2007, by the merger of Solihull Borough and Moor Green. Located in the heart of the West Midlands, our historic community focussed club continues to deliver both on and off the pitch.
A new badge was designed in 2022 To ensure the crest demonstrates a strong and proud link with the Borough and is clearly discernible with Solihull – lift the Griffin’s head from the Solihull Coat of Arms to form the new crest.
Damson Park, known as the ARMCO Arena for sponsorship, is a football stadium in Solihull, West Midlands, England, and is the home of Solihull Moors F.C with a 3,000 capacity.
