Witnessing one of football’s greatest goals live to what keeps him occupied away from football, get to know our man in the forward line, Harry Cardwell.
Best moment in football?
I had a great FA Cup run with Chorley - we made it to the 4th round beating Wigan, Peterborough and Derby but then lost to Wolves. Still, it was a great time.
Best player you’ve played with or against?
Ben White is probably the best player I’ve played with. Against I’d have to say Joe Gomez.
What is the ground you’ve played at with the best atmosphere?
Selhurst Park – Crystal Palace. That was a real good atmosphere there.
Best goal you’ve seen live?
Lionel Messi’s goal in the Champions League final vs Manchester United – Incredible.
Ground you’ve played at with the most intimidating tunnel walk?
Nothing overly comes to mind! Lincoln away when I played for Grimsby maybe, on derby day.
Who is your footballing hero?
Ruud Van Nistelrooy – I was a Man Utd fan growing up so was between him and David Beckham.
Do you have any hobbies outside of football?
Padel and golf – but I’m still not very good at either!
What's one of your favourite places you’ve visited?
Orange County, California.
What job would you have if you weren’t a footballer?
A Personal trainer I reckon.

Quigs (Joe Quigley) – we get on really well since coming in together.

It’s Forest Green Rovers final home game of 2024 as we welcome Aldershot Town to The New Lawn.
We met with the Shots right back on the opening day of the season, in much warmer conditions, for a six-goal thriller at the EBB Stadium.
Hady Ghandour had the Shots two goals to the good within the opening 15 minutes before Ryan Inniss’ first Rovers goal halved the deficit heading into the break.
Kyle McAllister got Rovers level just three minutes into the second half before Christian Doidge turned the game on its head only for it to be cancelled out by a late Shots equaliser courtesy of James Henry.
Since that meeting, the Shots have had their struggles throughout the season which sees them currently occupy 17th in the league just two points above the drop zone.
One win in their last eight league games highlights the Shots misfortunes but it’s been a more concerning time in recent games losing manager Tommy Widdrington.
Widdrington has been absent from the sidelines since the end of November after suddenly falling ill and everyone at Forest Green wishes him well in his recovery hoping to see him back in the dugout soon.
In Widdrington’s absence, assistant manager Hugo Langton has been carrying the shots forward and helped lead the side through in the FA Trophy with a 3-1 win over Wealdstone.
But Langton hasn’t seen any points in the two league games he’s overseen so far coming off the back of a narrow 2-1 defeat to Solihull Moors and a chaotic 4-3 defeat to FC Halifax Town.
The Shots haven’t struggled for goals being the top scorers in the bottom half with 31 goals in the league.
Midfielder James Henry may be a player to look out for with the 35-year-old finding the net on nine occassions this season.
Following their trip to Nailsworth, the Shots host Woking at the EBB Stadium on Boxing Day.
Aldershot Town were formed on 22 April, 1992, after the demise of Aldershot FC in March of the same year.
It was a joyful celebration on the opening day of the 1992-93 campaign when Shots’ very first visitors were Clapton Orient, a match which the home side won 4-2.
The crest bears the rising phoenix, a symbol synonymous with Aldershot Town, but now follows the same-coloured look from our Club’s original crest in 1992.
A blue ring surrounds the phoenix rising from the flames, with the same text as their previous blue badge featured: ‘Aldershot Town FC The Shots’.
The EBB Stadium is found in a pleasant setting with plenty of trees visible around its perimeter. The North Stand was built in 1932 and this covered stand runs the full length of the pitch.
It has a central section of seating with covered terracing to either side. There is a Players Tunnel located right in its centre with the team dugouts located out front to either side. Behind the stand there is quite a large office block.
