“Welcome Harvesters!”
I hope you all had a relaxing summer vacation and are looking forward with enthusiasm to the 2024-2025 school year. A special welcome to the families who are new to Pampa. We are happy to serve you and your child beginning with our Back to School Bash on Thursday, August 15th, and our first day of school on Tuesday, August 20th.
I am thankful to have a loving and caring community that continues to support our Harvesters! We have several construction projects underway thanks to the passing of our Bond 2023. You will notice the new Career and Technology and Fine Arts addition going up this year on the high school campus as well as the new addition at Travis Elementary. We anticipate opening both of these new buildings in the Fall of 2026.
We have an obligation to our students to help them prepare for a world that is increasingly more competitive, global, and complex. As our vision states, “Pampa ISD students are courageous innovators utilizing their own unique abilities to invest in their world.” Through tireless effort and encouragement, our staff will work to ensure our mission of producing learners who are compassionate, competent, confident, and future-ready! We look forward to partnering with our families as we engage in the process.
Our priorities for the year will be centered on literacy, processes, and procedures that help ensure deeper learning, family and community engagement, and attendance. As you know, students cannot learn if they are not present at school. Attendance is crucial to the success of your student. We know that children get sick and will need to stay home at times. Please do your best to help your child arrive on time and schedule appointments after school or on days when students are not scheduled to be at school.
Our promise to you is that the PISD staff will do our utmost to celebrate our students’ successes and will be there, with empathy and support, when trials occur. Our highest priority is the safety of our students. No one can learn at their highest level if they do not feel safe and secure. We have two full-time Pampa Police School Resource Officers, along with armed school personnel on every campus through our Guardian Program, and a School Safety and Security Program in place to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
It is an honor to serve our kids and community. Please look for ways to get involved and support our Harvesters. Pampa is a tremendous place and it will continue to progress as we share experiences and draw closer together.
Thank you for choosing Pampa ISD and for entrusting our staff with the care of your child.

The Pampa ISD Board of Trustees is represented by seven elected individuals who volunteer their time for four year terms. Trustees must reside within the Pampa ISD boundaries.

Parent Communication
At Pampa ISD, Parent Communication is one of our most important goals. We love to share news about our students and communicate campus/district information. We use several platforms to communicate with our students, families, and community. Please follow us on our social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Our website is a great place to find information about specific departments, calendar events, and news.
The district has moved all of our Parent/Student communication to the platform, ParentSquare. We are very excited about the features that ParentSquare gives us. Please download the ParentSquare app and set your notifications to your preferred time. If you prefer to receive notifications/communications at the end of your day, select digest. You will have access to all of your student’s campus and district information at your fingertips. You will be able to communicate with teachers and staff through this platform. Never miss another event by subscribing and syncing your calendar with campus and district calendars in ParentSquare. Emergency notifications will bypass personal notification preferences to deliver the emergency notification in real time.
If you have any questions or customer service needs, please contact pampaisdinfo@pampaisd.net or 806-669-4700 Ext 1425. You can also reach us at www.pampaisd.net and select the “Contact us” button.

Attendance Requirements
Attending school every day and arriving on time is crucial to a student’s academic success!
What is an excused absence?
• Personal Illness.
• Observance of a religious holy day.
• Documented health care appointments. A note from the health care provider must be submitted upon the student’s returen to campus. The student must attend a portion of school on the same day.
What if I need to miss school?
• If a student is absent, the parent or guardian must call the school that day to report the reason for the absence or complete the absence form in the ParentSquare app.
• For additional guidance on excused absences, please contact your campus.
It’s Texas State Law!
• State law requires that students attend class regularly to receive credit.
• Ten or more unexcused absences in a six-month period could result in a complaint of Parent-Contributing Non-Attendance being filed in the Justice of Peace Court.
Here are some facts about Absenteeism! (from AttenanceWorks.org)
• Absenteeism in the first month of school can predict poor attendance throughout the school year. Half the students who miss 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school.
• Absenteeism and its ill effects start early.
• Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of third grade or be held back.
• By 6th grade, chronic absenteeism becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
• Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school year, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.
• When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.

Inclement Weather Communication
In cases of inclement weather, Pampa ISD works in partnership with the City of Pampa, emergency management personnel, and the Pampa ISD Safety and Security Department. Personnel will be out inspecting road conditions as early as 4:00 am determining the impact of ice/snow on our roadways.
District personnel will collaborate with all information available to determine the safety and security of our staff and students, the impact on parents if there is a delay/closure/early release, and the impact on District operations to support student instruction and learning.
When possible, the Pampa ISD Superintendent and support staff will make a decision no later than 6:00 a.m. for a delayed start or school closure. At that time, the District will initiate communications through ParentSquare, social media, local tv/radio, and the Pampa ISD website. The District will only initiate major communication if there is a change to the regular school day and school operations due to weather.
For information about delayed starts and school closures, and how we communicate during emergencies, cancellations and bad weather, please visit this link.
