Forbes Asia Best Under A Billion Forum and Awards Dinner On December 9, more than 300 guests gathered at Bangkok, Thailand to attend a forum and awards dinner to celebrate and honor the success of Forbes Asia’s 2014 Best Under A Billion companies. This year’s Best Under A Billion list draws from a universe of 17,000 listed companies in Asia Pacific with annual revenue between $5 million and $1 billion, have positive net income and have been publicly traded for at least a year. The candidates are screened on their sales growth, earnings growth and return on equity. The result is a final list featuring 200 exceptional small and midsized companies from Asia Pacific. Joining the awards dinner as special guests were General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand, General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and M. R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand.
Opening remarks and keynote address by General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister, Thailand
General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand gave a keynote address on Thailand’s economic reforms and investment policies. In his address, he remarked on Thailand’s progress in laying the groundwork for economic stability and prosperity in the future. He talked about the government’s priorities to initiate policies that will help build a robust, inclusive and sustainable economy, and to create an efficient and transparent business climate that will boost investment. The Prime Minister also shed light on Thailand’s efforts to upgrade its infrastructure to better facilitate regional trade. In addition, he expressed confidence that Thailand stands ready to take a leading role with others in the ASEAN Economic Community that will be established in 2015.
