MS. VICKI
TAP & BALLET TEACHER
Mrs. Vicki Smith King began her dancing experience at the age of 3. She took hula lessons while living on Midway Island. After her family moved to Orangeburg, she spent 13 years taking classes from Tom Hendrix at Tom Hendrix School of Dance. During Vicki’s freshman year at USC, Mr. Hendrix passed away and his partner and family asked her if she wanted to take over the studio. So, in 1984 Vicki began her career as a studio owner and instructor, while still attending USC where she danced and sang her way to Australia with the group, Carolina Alive.
Vicki taught 100’s of girls & boys from Orangeburg and the surrounding areas for 34 years until she closed the doors in May of 2016. Her students enjoyed competing, performing in local theater, dancing in the New Year’s Day Florida Citrus Bowl & trips to NY city, while entertaining throughout the community. Vicki’s love for teaching dance brought her back into the studio this year- thanks to Lauren! Her dance students have become her life-long friends.
