of Denver’s Comedy Sports improvisational comedy troupe. After winning the Walt Disney Screenwriting Fellowship in 1999, she was assigned to write the film Freaky Friday. Along with Mary Rodgers, she wrote the young adult novel Freaky Monday, which she adapted for the screen. She’s currently working on a film adaptation of What to Expect When You’re Expecting and also a television pilot for ABC. Much love to Jason, Harper, Drake and all my friends and family. LAURENCE O’KEEFE (Music and Lyrics) Making his Broadway debut with Legally Blonde, he is a composer, lyricist, pianist and writer. Awards: a 2007 Tony Award Nomination and two Drama Desk Award Nominations for the music & lyrics of Legally Blonde The Musical, 2004 Ed Kleban Award for lyrics, the 2001 ASCAP Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award, and a 2001 Jonathan Larson Award for his music and lyrics. NY credits: Bat Boy: The Musical (2001 Lucille Lortel and Outer Critics’ Circle Awards for Best Off-Broadway Musical) and has been produced in Boston, Tokyo, Seoul, and the West End, among others. He co-wrote book, music and lyrics with Nell Benjamin, for Cam Jansen and the Curse of the Emerald Elephant (Drama Desk nom. for Best Book); the music for Sarah, Plain and Tall, which now tours the country for Theatre Works USA. In 2003 Larry, Nell and book writer Julia Jordon expanded Sarah into a full-length show at the O’Neill Festival. Laurence composed The Mice, which was produced by Harold Prince at The Prince Music Theater and at the Ahmanson.
NELL BENJAMIN (Lyrics and Music) earned a 2007 Tony Award Nomination and two Drama Desk Award Nominations for the music & lyrics of Legally Blonde The Musical, which is her Broadway debut. She was nominated for a 2005 Drama Desk award for Best Book of a Musical for Cam Jansen and the Curse of the Emerald Elephant. Nell is also the recipient of the 2003 Kleban Foundation Award for lyrics and a 2003 Jonathan Larson Foundation Grant. She has written musicals, online games, TV shows and a corporate bond-trading manual. Nell wrote lyrics for the musical Sarah, Plain and Tall, produced in 2002 by Theatre works USA and re-mounted in 2006 at the Lucille Lortel. In 2003 Sarah was expanded into a fulllength show at the O’Neill Festival. Prior to that, Nell was the lyricist on The Mice, which was produced by Harold Prince at The Prince Music Theater and at the Ahmanson. TV credits: “Unhappily Ever After” and “Whoa! Sunday with Mo Rocca.” She is a member of ASCAP and the Dramatists Guild of America. JERRY MITCHELL (Director, Choreographer) is currently making his West End debut as director of Legally Blonde, the Musical for which he also served as Choreographer there and on Broadway and was nominated for both the Tony and Drama Desks Awards for his choreography and the Drama Desk Award for his Broadway direction. He also choreographed the current West End production of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sequel to his Phantom of the Opera, titled Love Never Dies, heading for Broadway later this year. Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics’ Circle Awards for his dazzling choreography created for the 2005 Tony Award winning Best Revival of La Cage Aux Folles, having also been nominated for the Tony Award in the same category for the smash hit musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Previously, Jerry had received Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Astaire Award nominations for choreographing Hairspray and Tony, Drama Desk and Astaire Award nominations for choreographing The Full Monty, both shows having been directed by his cherished collaborator, Jack O’Brien. Emmynominated for choreographing The Drew Carey Show, his memorable film work includes In and Out; Camp; Drop Dead Gorgeous and Scent of a Woman. For Broadway, Jerry also choreographed the hit revival of Gypsy, starring Bernadette Peters, as well as Never Gonna Dance, the first and only Broadway musical based on an Astaire/Rogers film. Prior to those productions, Jerry choreographed the Broadway revivals of The Rocky Horror Show (Drama Desk nomination) You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Hedwig and the Angry Inch (on stage and film); the National Tour of Jekyll & Hyde and Paper Mill Playhouse’s critically acclaimed Follies, featuring Ann Miller. Jerry proudly conceives, directs and choreographs Broadway Bares, a comedy burlesque performed annually for the charity Broadway Cares. Most recently, he choreographed a new Broadway-bound musical based on the film, Catch Me if You Can (again with Jack O’Brien as director) and directed and choreographed Peepshow, a Las Vegas extravaganza production show. Future projects include musicals based on the films, Kinky Boots, Queen of the Stardust Ballroom and Mad Hot Ballroom, all of which he will direct and choreograph. MARC BRUNI (Direction Re-created) returns to LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL! after acting as associate director for the NY, US Tour, and London productions as well as on MTV’s “Search for Elle Woods.” He recently directed Fanny for City Center Encores! and Ordinary Days for the Roundabout Underground. St. Louis MUNY: The Music Man (Kevin Kline Award Nomination), Sound of Music, My One and Only, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Other directing credits include Such Good Friends (NYMF Directing Award), High Spirits (York), Glimpses to the Moon (Oak Room). PETER McBOYLE (Sound Designer) is the Resident Sound Designer for the renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival where he has designed the sound for over 45 productions including John Doyle’s Kiss Me Kate, Stafford Arima’s Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, Gary Griffin’s West Side Story, Krapp’s Last Tape starring Brian Dennehy, Fiddler on the Roof starring Tony Award winner Brent Carver and celebrated productions of The Tempest and King Lear starring Christopher Plummer. His Broadway credits include Twyla Tharp’s Frank Sinatra dance musical Come Fly Away and Christopher Plummer’s Barrymore. Favorite productions elsewhere include Orpheus Descending and Medea for Mirvish Productions in Toronto, the award winning musical Fire in Toronto, the world premiere of the new musical The Wrong Son at Canada’s National Arts Centre the acclaimed production of the new musical The House Of Martin Guerre in Toronto as well as productions of Sweeney Todd, Beauty and the Beast, The King and I, Into the Woods, Cabaret, Camelot, Anything Goes, Gypsy, High Society, Oklahoma!, Man of La Mancha and many others. Talitha has worked on National tours of Mamma Mia!, Fiddler on the Roof starring Topol and Harvey Fierstein, Jesus Christ Superstar starring Ted Neeley, Cats, Chicago, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Chita Rivera A Dancer’s Life, Movin’ Out, and 101 Dalmatians. International and Asian tours of West Side Story, Sound of Music, Swing!, Cinderella, and The King and I. Talitha has also had the privilege of working on Broadway’s The Pirate Queen, preproduction and development of Twyla Tharp’s Come Fly Away, and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
NICHOLAS HOWEY (Executive Producer) has a Ph.D. in Theatre Arts and studied repertory theatre in Prague. Together with Kary Walker he founded the Harlequin Theater outside Washington DC, which enjoyed a 20 year run. Nicholas and the late Larry Shue were subjects of the play Wenceslas Square written by Shue, directed by Jerry Zaks and produced at The New York Shakespeare Theater. Together with Kenneth Gentry and Dallett Norris, Nicholas founded Troika Entertainment. He is happily married to actress turned real estate agent, Mary Ellen Nester, the father of two grown kids “in the biz” (Jennifer & Christopher) and soon-to-graduate high-schooler Florin- all of whom remind him daily that life and the theater are as good as it gets.
ROBERTA ROBERTS (General Manager) is excited to be embarking on her ninth year with Troika Entertainment. Prior to her current position, Ms. Roberts was Producer for the Cruise Line Entertainment Division of Paramount Show Services International where she produced and managed entertainment programs for numerous clients including Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Renaissance Cruises, Orient Lines and Cunard Line’s Queen Elizabeth II. A graduate of James Madison University, Roberta is grateful for a career that has taken her to more than 45 countries. Roberta’s most exciting production to date was her recent Panamanian wedding to husband, Yiannis Gianareas.
RANDALL A. BUCK (Chief Operating Officer) has produced over 50 productions all over the world as Troika Entertainment’s Chief Operating Officer. Before rejoining Dr. Howey at Troika in 1999, Mr. Buck was Vice President and General Manager for Livent in Toronto. While working for Livent Mr. Buck managed productions such as Fosse, Ragtime, Show Boat, Music of the Night, and Kiss of the Spider Woman. Randy was a stage manager for over 20 years, opening The Phantom of the Opera Music Box tour and Show Boat! on Broadway. Since beginning as an apprentice with The Kenley Players in the late 60s, Randy has the privilege of working with directors such as Hal Prince, Joe Layton & Josh Logan and hundreds of stars. Mr. Buck had the privilege of recently serving on the board for the National Alliance of Music Theater. Randy is currently living happily-everafter in southern Maryland with his wife Angela and their daughter Sierra Ashley Buck.
GEOFFREY QUART (Technical Supervisor) Prior to his current position, Geoff spent three years as Project Foreman for Showman Fabricators, where he managed the build and installation of countless projects including the studio sets for CNN’s “American Morning,” “Paula Zahn Now,” and “ABC Nightly News.” Geoff began his career in Toronto, Canada as an Assistant Production Manager and Assistant Technical Director for Livent Inc. and Parallel Productions on productions such as Ragtime, Jane Eyre, The Vagina Monologues and The Lion King. Geoff and his wife Anne are enjoying life in blissful suburbia in New Jersey with their daughter Madelyn and their dog, Tucker.
DONALD KINDL (Chief Financial Officer) graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1982 and again in 1988 with his Masters in Business Administration. He began his career with Combustion Engineering in Windsor, CT in 1982, and moved to Maryland in 1992 to assume the position of Comptroller for various theatrical productions in association with Mr. Howey. In his current position he oversees the daily operations of all aspects of management information systems, finance and accounting. Mr. Kindl and his lovely wife, Cindy, are the proud parents of three wonderful children: Stephen, Stacey and Scott.
G CREATIVE ADVERTISING & DESIGN (Creative Services) Founded by Christopher and Gabrielle Howey in 2002, G Creative has grown into a full service agency specializing in print design and broadcast production. Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, G Creative produces materials for clients in various industries including entertainment, real estate, automotive, gaming and consumer products. Chris and Gabbe are celebrating the success of their most ambitious project to date: Mimi-Charlotte Howey.
JENNIFER HOWEY (Chief Strategy Officer) is proud to be working in the family biz beside her father Nicholas and brother Christopher. A graduate of Madonna University in Livonia, MI, Jennifer attended graduate school at The University of Detroit-Mercy and studied advertising and marketing at Oxford University.
