Chris Ballou (Salieri’s Valet/Citizen/Mozart understudy) OPFT: History of Henry IV, Henry V and Beyond the Fringe. Chicago: Mr. Bingly/Mr. Collins in Pride and Prejudice (Lifeline Theatre), Valere in Tartuffe (Boho).

Regional: Marius in Les Miserables, Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland (Mt. Baker Theatre) and Edmund in King Lear (Stonetown Theatre). Film: The Mountain Runners. Training: Shakespeare studies and performance from oxford and Oregon Shakspeare Festival with a BFA from CCPA where he appeared in The Tempest, The Cradle Will Rock, Execution of Justice, Spoon River and At Risk.

Joe Bianco (Count Von Strack) returns to OPFT where he was last seen in Richard III and Henry V. David Elliott (Baron Van Sweiten) is excited to be back after appearing at OPFT as Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing and Friar Tuck in Robin Hood.

Kyle Gibson (Count Orsini-Rosenberg/ Emperor Joseph understudy) A lifelong Chicagoan, Kyle is thrilled to be back at OPFT. He most recently appeared onstage in Matt Hawkins hit, Big Love at Strawdog Theatre, where he is also an ensemble member. Kyle has a BFA in acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University and has worked with Lifeline, Adventure Stage, Emerald City, Griffin, and Bailiwick Chicago, where he is a member of the Collective. He is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and represented by ATG. Thanks to R! Daniel Houle (Majordomo/Citizen/ Rosenberg & Van Sweiten understudies) is excited to be working with OPFT. Justin Kimrey (Citizen/Cook and Valet understudies) is excited to be making his Oak Park Festival Theatre debut. Justin is a recent graduate of the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Recent Theatre Credits include: Harold in the midwest premiere of Lysistrata Jones, Adult Male in Spring Awakening, IQ in Hairspray and Mr. Tackaberry in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.

Pat King (Venticelli 2) is delighted to make his Oak Park Festival debut.

Chicago credits include Arcadia and Redeemers (New Leaf Theatre), Hideous Progeny (Livewire), Big Love and bobrauschen-bergamerica (Chicago Fusion), Caucasian Chalk Circle (Theatre Mir), The Billing King (Side Project), The Ring Cycle (Building Stage), A Perfect Wedding (Circle Theatre), The Hostage (Griffin Theatre), The Misanthrope (Greasy Joan) and Thirteen Dead Husbands (Sansculottes) among others. He is pursuing a PhD in theatre at Tufts University.

Regina Leslie (Teresa Salieri/Citizen) was recently seen in James Joyce’s The Dead (Court Theatre). Other Chicago credits include The Quiet Man Tales (Chicago Theatre Downstairs), A Christmas Carol (Goodman), Sketchfest (Collaboraction), and American Girls Revue (American Girl Place Theatre) .

Regina is also a professional violinist, electric violinist, and singer, and performs internationally and locally. Upcoming projects include Cyrano de Bergerac and Roadshow, both with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.

Molly Lyons (Katherina/Citizen/ Constanze understudy) is so excited to be working with Oak Park Festival Theatre this summer. She is a recent graduate of Northwestern University, where favorite roles include Anne in A Cry of Players and Emma Brookner in The Normal Heart. She recently appeared in The Auction House’s production of Marriage at Collaboraction.

She looks forward to joining Oak Park

Jackson McLaughlin (Kapellmeister Bonno/ Citizen/Venticelli 2 understudy) is a recent graduate of the University of Maine.

Notable performances while in college include The Pirates of Penzance (Sergeant of Police), Avenue Q (Trekkie Monster), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Lysander), God of Carnage (Michael Novak), and many others. Jackson is excited about being back in his true home after living in Maine for 15 years, and he hopes the audience enjoys the performances!

Mark Plonsky (Venticelli 1) spent the last several years in the UK, where appearances included Northern Stage, The Dukes Lancaster, Théâtre Sans Frontières, and The Bridge House Theatre, as well as several national tours, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, Death of a Salesman, and Of Mice and Men amongst others. Here in Chicago he has appeared with Shaw Chicago, Vintage Theatre Collective, and is delighted to be working with Oak Park Festival Theatre on Amadeus.

Jonathan Nichols (Emperor Joseph II) is very happy to return to the OPFT stage where he has previously performed in MacBeth (1999), Julius Caesar (2006), Henry V (2011) and understudied Mr. Theis’ Richard III last summer. In addition to OPFT, around Chicago he has had the pleasure of performing with ShawChicago, Remy Bumppo, First Folio, Shakespeare on the Green (Lake Forest), Circle Theatre, MPAC as well as Eclipse Theatre, Raven Theatre and City Lit Theatre.

Julie Soroko (Citizen/ Teresa Saleri understudy) is actually taking on her first internship ever and is excited to do so. Raised in Topeka Kansas she received her BFA in Theater from Emporia State University then completed a Masters in Vocal Performance at the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2011 before moving to Chicago. Favorite roles include Julia in Two Gentlemen of Verona, Clytemnestra in Iphegenia 2.0, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Andromache in Trojan Women, and Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi.

Kevin Theis* (Antonio Salieri) has appeared in many OPFT shows over the years, most recently as Edward in Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me and the title role in last summer’s Richard III. Other favorite Festival Theatre performances include George in Of Mice and Men, Francis Hardy in Faith Healer and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. He has also appeared at the Goodman Theatre, Next Theatre, Peninsula Players, City Lit, Lifeline and CT20 Ensemble, where he served as Artistic Director. He has directed Henry V, Cyrano de Bergerac, Robin Hood and The Glass Menagerie for OPFT and has been nominated for three Jeff awards for his directing work.

Meg Warner (Constanze) Having recently moved to Chicago from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Meg is happy to be making her OPFT debut. During her run in Amadeus, she is spending the summer studying at the School at Steppenwolf, and will be appearing as Eleanor in Northanger Abbey with Remy Bumppo Theatre Company later this fall. Many thanks my family and friends, bosses and coworkers, cast and crew who have all helped make my time in Amadeus possible and memorable.

Chelsea Wellmann (Citizen/Katherina Cavelieri understudy) will be a sophomore Musical Theatre major at the Chicago College of Performing Arts this fall. Her love for music and performing began at the age of three when she first set her fingers on the piano keys. Last summer she performed as a singer and dancer at Kings Island Amusement Park and she is very excited to spend this summer at Oak Park Festival Theatre!

Joshua David Wold (Citizen/Major Domo/ Kapellmeister understudies) holds a BFA in Theatre Performance with a Classical Studies minor from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He’s ecstatic and honored to intern with Oak Park. He enjoys eating healthy, swimming, biking, and Frisbee. “My kind audience, I can no other answer make but thanks, and thanks, and ever thanks. from the president We are so glad you joined us tonight. Whether it is your first visit or you are a longtime-loyal subscriber, thank you! We are now celebrating our 39th amazing season; and what a season it has been so far. Our first two productions were BOTH Jeff recommended and critically acclaimed. Last fall we brought you Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me by Frank McGuiness and this spring we staged Edward Albee’s Seascape. We are proud to now bring you two more marvelous tales–Amadeus by Peter Shaffer and Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

We are also pleased that many of you have enjoyed our promotional tagline – Now In 3D. “Hold on”, everyone says, “of course it is in three dimensions, it is LIVE THEATER!” And then suddenly the unique and very special difference between film and live performance - between watching something set in celluloid and actually participating in a once in a lifetime shared experience–comes sharply into to focus. “Now in 3D” is more than just a play on words. For us it stands for many attributes including dramatic, dynamic and downtown. We are determined to continue delighting you with the highest quality theater.

As well, we are excited to be only one summer away from celebrating our 40th season. In the precarious world of professional theater, forty years is a remarkably long time for a company to survive–let alone prosper. Yet, we’ve done so. Perhaps it is because we are rooted in the plays of Shakespeare, or maybe it is our history of commitment and quality to the work and our community. One thing is indisputably sure; it is because we have fantastic and unflagging support of the Oak Park area audiences. We wouldn’t have survived and flourished all of these years, despite personal and pandemic economic challenges, without the support of folks from Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park and the countless other surrounding communities (including a big one to our East). Year after year, decade after decade, we are determined and heartened to welcome familiar faces as well as make brand new friends. After all, for us theater isn’t for our artists; it is their and our gift to you who respond so enthusiastically to our endeavors. Our commitment to you is what gets us up early and sends us home late. Nothing can replicate or replace live theater presented by superbly talented artists such as ours.

He’ll next appear as Benedick in Rasaka Theatre’s Bollywood Much Ado About Nothing at Victory Gardens, directed by Lavina Jadhwani. Joshua David Wold (Antonio/Sebastian understudies) holds a BFA in Theatre Performance with a Classical Studies minor from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

She most recently performed as Whitney in Legally Blonde with Circa ‘21 Dinner Playhouse. She graduated from the Chicago College of Performing Arts with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre, where she was seen in the chorus of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Sweeney Todd.

Mark Francis (House Staff ) is an aspiring actor from Evanston, Illinois. He is currently a second year nursing student attending MacMurray College. Graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy; currently pursuing an MFA in Directing from the Theatre School at DePaul University. Anne Pape (Tech staff ) is positively bananas to work with the Festival Theatre for the first time! She is a recent graduate of the Chicago Academy for the Arts, where she studied musical theatre. There she has performed as Camillo in The Winter’s Tale, Pennywise in Urinetown; The Musical, and this spring, was Assistant Director for 25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee. Rebecca Pearce (Assistant Stage Manager) is a junior majoring in Theatre Studies and Communication: Media Studies at Northern Illinois University. Her stage management credits in college include Waiting for Godot and Emergency. This summer, she will also be working on a documentary about The Penguin Project in DeKalb, IL. She is very excited to be working with Oak Park Festival Theatre.

Mark Richard* (Director, Amadeus) is happy to rejoin OPFT where he has appeared previously in Richard III, Beyond the Fringe, and Betrayal. Chicago: Sartorius in Widowaers’ Houses and The Emperor in Androcles and the Lion (ShawChicago).

Artistic Director of City Lit Theater for seven years, he also directed the revival of Sharon Evan’s Portrait of a Shiksa for Live Bait Theater. Other Chicago appearances include: Timeline Theatre (The Front Page), and Chicago Shakespeare (As You Like It).

Elsewhere he has appeared with Theatre Mir, Writers’ Theatre, Remy-Bumppo, About Face, Live Bait, Lifeline, City Lit, Steppenwolf Theatre. Favorite roles include Raymond Carver (The Hero’s Journey), Bertie Wooster (six productions), John Worthing (The Importance of Being Earnest), and Andrei (Three Sisters). He studied at Northwestern

University and in London. He is the recipient of one “Jeff” Citation for performance and two for new work/adaptation.

Julia Zayas-Melendez* (Stage Manager, Amadeus) is proud to be working once again with OPFT. Julia has had the honor of working with many theatres in Chicagoland, including Route 66, Marriott Theatre, Drury Lane, Fox Valley Repertory, Apple Tree Theatre, About Face Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, Steppenwolf Theatre, Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, Next Theatre, The Free Associates Theatre Company, Court Theatre, Madison Repertory Theatre, and Theater at the Center. A graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Julia began her stage management career in Massachusetts, with companies like Opera Boston, Boston Theatre Works, The Theatre Offensive, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, SpeakEasy Stage, and Shakespeare & Company. She also spent a season as the Production Stage Manager at Tri-State Actors Theater in Sussex County, NJ, and celebrated World Theatre Day 2009 in Konya, Turkey with ShawChicago. Julia is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers.
