DATE ME! and SOUND OF SILENCE Created and Directed by Noemi Schlosser Featuring Noemi Schlosser and Michelle Slonim With Josh Odor and Brandon Galatz November 16- December 18, 2011 Salomee Speelt is a “fixed-fluid” collective set up by Noemi Schlosser, a young theatrical creator, who was taught by Dora van der Groen and Ivo van Hove in Antwerp’s Drama School, Belgium and graduated in 2001. The idea for this company arose from the need to bring various branches of art, background and people from a variety of artistic milieus together and create mixed-media theater. Salomee Speelt wants to surprise both the performers and the audiences with fresh, new approaches, perspectives, characters and virtuosity. Salomee Speelt makes no attempt to stick to any particular style, neither with respect to texts or themes. The ability to play repertory pieces in addition to their own scripts and to bring all kinds of material together is their greatest strength. For more information go to salomeespeelt.be. The Actor in the film of Sound of Silence C A S T – DAT E M E ! Noemi Schlosser and Michelle Slonim Brandon Galatz and Josh Odor T H E S H OW S The Sound of Silence was originally written in 1940 by Jean Cocteau as a showcase for Edith Piaf. This is a one woman tour de force, written and performed with wit and passion in a multi-media setting. The Sound of Silence tells the story of a svelte nightclub singer confronting and berating the unfaithful lover who sits silently on stage, dozing behind his newspaper before he coolly departs for another rendezvous with his ugly, aging mistress. Piaf’s 1940 performance of this piece is legendary. Noemi Schlosser assumes the Piaf mantle and adds her own nuances in this 2011 premiere. DATE ME! Written by Noemi Schlosser, introduces us to two dateless girlfriends (Noemi Schlosser and Michele Slonim) who find themselves marooned at the bar of yet another wedding reception. In an almost stand up comedic way, boldly and honestly they reminisce about their escapades and disappointments, their nearsex experiences, and sink-into-the-ground moments and disasters. Noemi Schlosser and Michelle Slonim as their fabulous selves Brandon Galatz and Josh Odor will alternate for the part of ‘DJ’ Salomee Speelt and ShPieL Performing Identity 1
