Usa-se o passado perfeito nas seguintes situações: • ações passadas anteriores a outras já terminadas Mr. Davies bought the car that he had seen before. (Mr. Davies comprou o carro que ele havia visto antes.) I had sent you an e-mail before you called me. (Eu enviei um e-mail antes que você me chamasse.) • como passado para sentenças no present perfect Meggie is excited because she has never been to a play before. (Meggie está contente porque ela nunca esteve em uma peça antes.) • para desejos que não foram realizados (normalmente usamos os verbos hope, expect, suppose, think, want) I had hoped to send him a telegram to congratulate him on his birthday, but I didn’t manage it.
