In the morning of 6th August 1945, the officer Claude Eatherly an hour early on Enola Gay, the plane that carried the atomic bomb, flied on Hiroscima with the purpose to report the conditions of the sky. In other cities, millions of people saved themselves because that day it was raining. In the night between 8th and 9th of July 1999 my father and my brother died in a accident with the car. The 11th of March the prefectures of Miyagi and Iwate in Japan were hit by a terrible earthquake e by the following tsunami that caused the died of about 25.000 people and the destruction of 475.000 houses. The start point of this proyect is a pack of letters that I found in the winter 2012. These letters, dated 1999, are the adolescent correspondence of my brother and his Japanese girlfriend. Kaori, this is her name, wrote and sent photos and postcards for months after the accident. The research of Kaori is the pretext to cross Japan destroyed by the tsunami e to meet other stories of loss and reconstruction. “The first day of good weather” was the order of the President of USA Truman for the launching of the atomic bomb in Japan.
El seis de augusto de 1945 por la mañana el general Claude Eatherly con una hora de anticipación sobre Enola Gay, el aéreo que transportaba la bomba atómica, voló sobre Hiroscima con el objetivo de referir las condiciones del cielo. En otras ciudades, miles de personas se salvaron porque aquel día llovió. En la noche entre el 8 y el 9 de julio de 1999 mi padre y mi hermano murieron por un incidente con el coche. El 11 de marzo las prefecturas de Miyagi y Iwate en Japón fueron golpeados por un terrible terremoto y por el siguiente tsunami que provocó la muerte de más o menos 25.000 personas y la destrucción de 475.000 casas. El punto de inicio de esto proyecto es un paquete de cartas que he encontrado en el invierno de 2012. Estas cartas, fechadas 1999, son la correspondencia adolescencial de mi hermano y su novia japónes. Kaori escribió y envió fotografías y tarjetas postales por meses después del incidente. La investigación de Kaori es el pretesto para cruzar el Japón devastado por el tsunami y encontrar otras historias de pérdida y reconstrucción. “El primer día de tiempo bonito” era el orden del Presidente de los Estados Unidos Truman para el lanzamiento de la bomba atómica sobre el Japón.
