Dear Parent, I have great pleasure in welcoming you to Fair Oak Infant School. I am very proud to be able to share with you information about our school.

Fair Oak Infant School is a vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to learn. The children are at the heart of our school, and we strive to ensure that they are happy and confident and that the opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs now and in the future.

We believe the first few years of school can be the most important in your child’s educational career, as they can shape your child’s attitude to learning throughout our school and beyond. Through our engaging curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a love for learning that will help to develop high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. We believe in ensuring that children receive memorable experiences as this leads to memorable learning.

At Fair Oak Infant School we have high expectations. We want learning to be enjoyable, and for every child to do the very best they can. Our aim is to provide a safe learning environment where children are encouraged to become successful learners, confident individuals and global citizens.

The school has a dedicated team that works hard to reach high standards in everything we do and this is further embedded through our successful relationships with parents. We know how vital working in partnership with parents is and regard you as an active partner in your child’s education. We value your interest and support.

Whether you are joining us for the first time, have a child in school already or have been a parent with us for many years, we look forward to working with you to make your child’s years at Fair Oak Infant School a truly memorable time.

About Our School Fair Oak Infant School is a welcoming, friendly and vibrant school serving the villages of Fair Oak and Horton Heath. We share a campus with Fair Oak Junior School, Wyvern College and Wyvern Nursery; collectively providing excellent education from six months to sixteen years.

We have fourteen bright, attractive teaching spaces plus a hall, library, music/drama room, cookery room, group rooms, medical room and office accommodation. In the centre of the school there is a paved courtyard which offers an excellent outdoor teaching area. We also have a very attractive playground, Trim Trail, small all-weather surface area, a wildlife area and a wonderful Children’s World Garden. These are all used throughout the year for teaching and learning, as well as for play.

All our classrooms are fitted with the latest in interactive touch screen technology, allowing collaborative learning at its fullest, reflecting the world we live in today.

Our School Values Children are born loving learning; learning is a lifelong skill and can be done at any age. Children who are more confident in their own learning ability learn faster and learn better. They concentrate more, think more deeply and find learning more enjoyable. To thrive in the twenty-first century it is not enough to leave school with a clutch of examination certificates. Children need to learn to be tenacious and resourceful, imaginative and logical, self-disciplined and self-aware, collaborative and inquisitive. Today, we are educating our children for lifelong learning.

We have identified our own School Values to enable our children to begin to develop the skills required for lifelong learning and to prepare them for their future.

We believe a value is something that people think is important, that will ‘help make us a better person and a better learner.’

Each of our values is represented by a character. Children are encouraged to display attributes of each character in order to be rewarded with stickers for their Values Passport which, when complete, they can exchange for their Values Badge!

Our Curriculum At Fair Oak Infant School we place emphasis on the basic skills of reading, writing and maths, providing children with the knowledge, skills and understanding they require to access the broad and balanced curriculum we offer, and to prepare them for the next stage of their education.

Our curriculum provides children with memorable experiences that promote memorable learning, and is underpinned with our school aims and values. Our school curriculum is built around our curriculum design principles:
