How to Install Underfloor Insulation?

It has become crystal clear that underfloor insulation introduces a whole range of useful benefits to any property in which it is installed. From increased thermal efficiency and economy, to a reduction in a home’s carbon footprint, there are many reasons why insulation is a wise investment. If you are considering adding insulation to your new or existing home and wondering if you can undertake the installation on your own; the good news is that in most cases you can. As long as there are no unforeseen complications, there is no reason you can’t do it yourself. Many companies will provide you with instructions on how to install their product. The team at Foilboard have created the following guide on how to install their quality insulation, and it should give you an idea of how easy it can be.

During Construction 1. Place Foilboard Floor Saddles over the top of floor joists at 600mm apart. 2. Measure distance between the joists, on the inside edge, and mark out appropriate size sections. 3. Cut the sheet into strips to fit, using a snap blade knife or similar. 4. Place strips of Foilboard between the joists, sitting on the saddle edge. 5. Do not leave any gaps between the board and the edge of the joists. You can use water based sealant to fill gaps. 6. The end of joists should be sealed with Foilboard off cuts, or similar, to promote a sealed air environment 7. Tape all joints abutting another sheet.
