2021 BLIA World Conference Hosted by the Buddha’s Light International Association World Headquarters and associated with the BLIA ROC, the 2021 BLIA World Headquarters Annual General Meeting Online Conference was held for three consecutive days from 2nd to 4th October 2021, with nearly 20,000 BLIA members in attendance. About 150 people attended the event in NZ, including Abbess Manshin, Venerable Juexi, Venerable Rulian, Presidents of BLIA NZ North and South Island, BLIA NZ members and YAD. The conference featured a video message from the founder of BLIA Venerable Master Hsing Yun to all the members over five continents.

The conference included various activities such as a keynote speech on Wisdom and Innovation by FGS and BLIA World HQ President Most

Venerable HsinBau, an opening ceremony, motion discussion, group discussion and summary reports.

On the third day, the Wisdom and Innovation forum was given by BLIA World HQ Acting President Venerable TzuJung, Department of the Cultural Institute Venerable YiKong, SecretaryGeneral Venerable ChuehPei and Deputy Chairman of the New Media Development Committee Venerable MiaoXi. The three-day meeting was filled with wonderful sharing and knowledge for BLIA NZ members.

國際佛光會 世界會員代表線上大會 由國際佛光會世界總會主辦、國際佛光 會中華總會承辦的「2021年國際佛光會 世界會員代表線上大會」於10月2日至4 日舉辦，主題為「智慧與創新」，全球近 兩萬名會員通過zoom系統上線參與。紐 西蘭佛光山住持滿信法師、南島監寺覺 西法師、北島監寺如廉法師、南北島協 會會長、各分會長、督導、幹部會員及佛 光青年近150位出席。 會議有創會總會長星雲大師透過影片向 五大洲佛光人開示，佛光山宗長心保和 尚主講的「智慧與創新」主題演說、開 幕典禮、議案討論、分組討論及綜合報 告等。第三天「智慧與創新」主題論壇， 由佛光會署理會長慈容法師、文化院院 長依空法師、秘書長覺培法師、新媒體 發展委員會副主委妙熙法師主講。三天 精 彩 的 會 議，令 南北 島 佛光 人心 靈 充 盈、收穫滿滿。

紐西蘭技術團隊 擔當大任 堅定信心收穫成長 此次大會採用中、英、日、法、葡、西、 韓、粵共八種語言，由50人的翻譯團隊 同步口譯，為確保流程順利，動員海內 外 逾百名資 訊 工程 人 員，共 開了12 個 Z o o m會 議 室，每 個 會 議 室 達10 0 0人 上線的規模，部分共同議程則同步上線 YouTube，讓大家都有機會參與。 大 會前紐西蘭南北島協會共 參與 超 過 30場由總本山、美西、大洋洲議事組、 行政組、資訊組及文宣組等各工作小組 的籌備會議及連線測試，創造了又一項 輝煌的人間佛教歷史。其中北島技術團 隊作為此次大洋洲的IT主控，在住持滿 信法師的帶 領 及南島協會的共同協 助 下，與大洋洲及美西各協會相互配合， 集體創作，克服技術上的諸多困難，為 大會順利圓滿舉行保駕護航。

NZ Team Acted as the Leader of Tech for Oceania The conference had a team of 50 translators providing simultaneous interpretation in eight different languages, including Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and more. In addition, over a hundred IT personnel were on-site to ensure the online conference ran smoothly.

There were 12 Zoom meeting rooms opened, each capable of hosting 1,000 people online. In addition, some of the agendas were uploaded to YouTube simultaneously for everyone to participate.

Before the conference, the BLIA NZ members attended more than 30 pre-conference meetings with different groups. The technical team from BLIA NZ North Island acted as the leader of the technical teams for Oceania. With the guidance of Abbess Manshin, the assistance of BLIA NZ South Island and cooperation with other associations in Oceania and the America West Coast, the technical team overcame many technical difficulties to ensure the conference could run smoothly and successfully.

On 26th February 2022, the BLIA Oceania Fellowship Conference was organised by BLIA World HQ and coorganised by BLIA NZ North Island.

Over 550 participants from seven chapters of BLIA Oceania attended the online conference, including Guiding Venerables, Association Presidents, advisors, sub-chapter presidents, committees and YADs, where 200 attendees were from BLIA North & South Island.

The distinguished guests including BLIA World HQ President Most Venerable HsinBau, Acting President Venerable TzuJung, Vice President ChaoMing Liu, Secretary-General Venerable ChuehPei, Oceania Vice Secretary-General Venerable Manko, Director of BLIA Oceania Fellowship Conference Dolly Tsai, BLIA World HQ Director Dominique Yu, Director Natasha Tang, Director Raymond Lee, Director David Yang, Director of Children Education Committee Chui Ching Chen, Deputy Director of BLIA Scholarship Committee ShiowJau

In the conference, video reports from Oceania's chapters were presented, and BLIA members played interactive games together to relax and have fun. Then, Dr KwongDjee Chan led the Blessing Workshop, guiding the participants to discuss the challenges of the pandemic and how faith can help us gain strength and coexist with it. The workshop was concluded by the summary reports of six representatives from each Chapter.

In the opening speech of Most Venerable HsinBau, he stated that the conference theme Go Green. Do

Green. displayed our main concern on environmental protection and greening action. The topic resonates with Venerable Master Hsing Yun's environmental and spiritual preservation concept to green the environment and make our hearts brighter and at ease.

Venerable TzuJung said that the BLIA had spread worldwide for 30 years since its establishment. It has become a home of faith for the BLIA members.

Moreover, Dharma practice can improve our quality of life, strengthen our character, make us more compassionate, as well as promote peace in society. She praised that BLIA members in Oceania embraced the Dharma with joy and practised it diligently under the guidance of Venerables.

Director Dolly Tsai said internet technology had improved communication and interaction between people, as online classes and conferencing have become normal. In the pandemic era, the

strength and connection of BLIA members are heart-warming, and the 3G4G concept has become ever more important and valuable. She appreciated the efforts of Venerables and BLIA Oceania committees in leading the members to move forward and settle with physical and mental wellbeing.

Venerable ChuehPei went online to greet members of BLIA Oceania and acknowledged FGS Christchurch for its resilience after the natural disaster. Even though she could not attend physically due to the pandemic, she was happy to meet everyone online. She believed that under the leadership of Venerable Manko, BLIA Oceania would bring more kindness to the world.

Vice President ChaoMing Liu said that the conference provided a platform for exchanging ideas, learning, and growing together. He was grateful for the Venerable Master's compassion to promote Buddhism so that more people have the opportunity to learn and practice Buddhism. He hoped that BLIA members would actively pursue the Dharma and spread the joy, strength, brightness, and peace to the society.

In Venerable Manko's speech, BLIA created many opportunities for the members to step onto international stages and allowed everyone to improve. She appreciated the courage and commitment of the BLIA members

to bring kindness and virtue to the world even though disasters are merciless. She encouraged BLIA members to support one another and achieve greater success.

Venerable Manshin pointed out that the founder of BLIA, Venerable Master Hsing Yun, became renounced at 12.

He never forgot his initial aspiration to spread peace and happiness across the five continents. Everyone is pursuing peace and happiness, so the conference focused on the topic of Blessing. She applauded the conference team and the participants for making this conference possible and wished everyone safe and sound.

A handover ceremony was held at the end of the conference, in which the Director Dolly Tsai, Conference Chairperson Lintao Yu and the President of BLIA North Island Yulin Ku, handed over the baton to the next co-organiser of Oceania Fellowship Conference, BLIA Western Australia President KimYen Chen and Deputy President KienHao Tee. The conference was a great success that ended in joy and touching moments, and members look forward to meeting in Perth during 2024.

暢所欲言，踴躍分享，最後再由大洋洲6 個協會的綜合報告人給出總結發言。 心保和尚於開幕中致辭表示，環境與人 類息息相關，本屆聯誼會的主題是「Go Green . Do Green」，這個議題也符合 星雲大師提出的「環保與心保」理念，不 僅環境需要綠化，也透過佛法讓內心更 加光明自在，這正是內心的環保。 慈容法師致辭表示，國際佛光會創立至 今，30年間已推廣到世界各地，成為佛 光人的信仰之家。佛法能夠幫助大家提 升自我，完善人格，增長慈悲心，也為社 會帶來祥和。讚歎大洋洲佛光人在各協 會輔導法師的帶領下，精進弘法，讓大 家都歡喜信受奉行。 蔡素芬主委表示，科技進步也提升了人 事物間的交流與互動，線上課程與會議 已成為生活的常態。在非常時期佛光人 展現的團結讓人感動，「三好四給」顯得 尤為重要與珍貴，感謝大洋洲輔導法師 及幹部們推動付出，帶領著佛光人向前 邁進，讓大眾身心皆安頓。 覺培法師特別上線問候大洋洲佛光人， 並讚 歎南島道場經 歷了嚴 重的天 災之 後，能夠再現風華，帶來無限的希望。 雖然因疫情無法親臨現場，在線上看到 大家非常開心，相信大洋洲各協會在滿 可法師的帶 領 下一定會帶 給 世界更多 美好。

2021 BLIA Global Buddhism Online Examination The 2021 BLIA Global Buddhism Examination was held on 11th and 12th September 2021. Buddha’s Light International Association World Headquarters organised the event with the Committee of BLIA World Dharma Lecturer Fellowship, the BLIA North American and BLIA ROC and all chapters. Over 35,000 BLIA members across 58 countries worldwide participated in the exam, with over ten languages available. The examination was held to accommodate for ten different time zones of the examinees worldwide. Examinees had three ways to participate in the exam: online, paper-based, and listening methods.

Dharma lecturer Chen Ju all gave their best wishes to all the participants. The examination materials were based on Venerable Master Hsing Yun's book Buddha-Dharma: Pure and Simple.

Besides, the organiser provided all the necessary study material and tips, and the BLIA ROC also created 12 videos to discuss the exam material and allow participants to revise.

There were many preparations before the exam. BLIA North Island conducted a mock test and provided technical support for BLIA members.

Abbess Manshin then met the participants online to encourage them to sprint ahead for the exam, followed by a post-exam gathering and celebration. Minister in Charge of FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi and President of BLIA South Island Subchapter 1 Mingyuan Kuo

led reading sessions on Humanistic Buddhism and Heart Cultivation, using the book Buddha-Dharma: Pure and Simple to prepare for the Buddhism Examination. Moreover, both the Auckland and Christchurch technical teams engaged in a series of preparatory meetings to ensure a smooth examination online.

A total of 160 BLIA NZ members participated in the Global Buddhism Online Examination on 12th September. The participants shared that the exam gave an excellent opportunity for them to further their understanding of Buddhism and strengthen ties among BLIA members.

Eventually, both BLIA North and South Islands won the best promotion award, and BLIA North Island won the best achievement award.

國際佛光會2021全球佛學會考 紐西蘭佛光人線上考試創歷史 由國際佛光會世界總會主辦，檀教/講師 聯誼委員會、北美洲各協會承辧，中華 總會及各協會共同協辦的「國際佛光會 2021年全球佛學會考」，在世界各地時 間9月11、12日同步舉行，近4萬人報名參 加。此次佛學會考遍及58個國家地區， 使用多國語言進行，有中、英、葡、西、 法、韓、日、泰米爾文等。主辦單位為配 合各地的時差，將全球分為10個考區，採 用線上、傳統紙本及聽寫方式進行。 國際佛光會世界總會總會長心保和尚、 署理會長慈容法師、秘書長覺培法師、

財務長陳居檀講師皆為全球考生獻上祝 福。今年的佛學會考以星雲大師的《佛 法真義》為內容。大會提供各類題庫及 考試大補帖，中華總會也製作了12個《佛 法真義》的提要視頻，供考生複習。 紐 西 蘭 北 島協 會 特 別 於 9月5日舉 行 zoom系統連線測試及模擬考，9月9日恭 請住持滿信法師在線上勉勵諸位考生， 並於9月14日舉行考後線上聯誼會。南島 協會輔導法師覺西法師及第一分會長郭 名遠自2021年1、2月起分別進行「人間佛 教」及「耕耘心田」讀書會，閱讀《佛法

真義》中英文版，帶領南島佛光人備考。 南北島技術團隊均在輔導法師及協會會 長的帶領下經過數次籌備會，討論技術 上的細節，為考試順利進行保駕護航。 紐西蘭南北島協會於9月12日下午參加 線上考試，共有160位幹部及會員參加。 佛學會考讓佛光人藉此機會把佛法知識 溫故知新，遇到不解之處向善知識請教， 凝聚了佛光人的情誼，考出對信仰的提 升。每位參加會考的考生，都歡喜滿滿、 共霑法益。最終南北島協會均榮獲推廣 獎，北島協會亦獲最佳水準獎。

FGS Auckland Buddha's Birthday Celebration On 11th April 2021, Fo Guang Shan Auckland hosted the annual Buddha’s Birthday Celebration for World Peace Ceremony. Over 300 BLIA members gathered in the Main Shrine and presented sincere offerings to the Buddha. The grand ceremony started with the lion dance and Scottish band performance to welcome Prince Siddhartha statue’s entrance, the National flag and the Buddhist flag. FGS NZ Abbess Manshin and President of BLIA NZ North Island Mr Lintao Yu led the distinguished guests to the ceremony.

The grand ceremony opened with a Haka Performance by The Kapa Haka Team from Papatoetoe Intermediate School. NZ Police Deputy Commissioner Wallace Haumaha blessed the ceremony with a Karakia.

Followed by Abbess Manshin leading the auspicious ceremony, bathing the Buddha with distinguished guests and reading A Prayer for World Peace by the founder of Fo Guang Shan, Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Various religious leaders, including Catholic representative Rev Deacon Chris

Sullivan, Christian representative Rev Ivica Gregurec and Muslim representative Mr Ibrar Sheikh also delivered the ceremony’s prayers.

Venerable Master Hsing Yun once put forward the concept of where there is equality, there is respect; where there is peace, there is glory with four perspectives: Equality requires mutual respect for one another; Equality depends on the ability to understand each other’s perspectives; Equality arises from causes and conditions; Equality underlies that there is no difference between one and many. New Zealanders have worked together and cared for one another during the pandemic. This has shown the power and importance of compassion and kind hearts, which have been collectively achieved. BLIA and FGS have organized many activities, including the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing, Art Salon, Cherry Blossom Festival, Seminars, and years of working with the community to cultivate more kind hearts. I am privileged and blessed to work with so many kind-hearted Kiwis to construct a harmonious society.

Mindfulness Cleansing Ceremony Fo Guang Shan Auckland held a two day 2021 Buddha’s Birthday Celebration for World Peace. On 10th April, a grand Baby & Children Blessing Ceremony was held in the Main Shrine as part of the festival. Over 160 babies and children from New Zealand, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan and more, participated in the blessing ceremony, accompanied by their parents and relatives. The blessing ceremony was led by FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, who prayed that the children would grow up healthily and joyfully under the blessings of Buddha.

In addition, the president of BLIA NZ North Island Subchapter 1 Ms Meggan Lam, invited her colleagues to conduct two fascinating workshops; Navigating the Journey of Motherhood and Motherhood - Reflections shared by the senior clinical psychologists Emily Thomas and Seonaigh Stevens.

There were over 60 people in attendance at these workshops.

Moreover, the President of BLIA NZ North Island Subchapter 3 Ms Yuling Ku, organised two sessions of mindfulness tea meditation with her team during the festival. Over 50

people participated and commented that they were looking forward to taking part again.

The Temple also invited many local market stallholders to participate in the festival, providing a platform to support local businesses. BLIA members also practised the spirit of Giving by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, offering quality service to the community and making the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration a successful event.

FGS Christchurch Buddha's Birthday Celebration Conveyed a Message of Peace and Equality On 17th April 2021, 800 Christchurch residents celebrated Buddha's Birthday Festival by attending the Buddha's Birthday Dharma Function and The Little Prince Fun day.

At the Dharma Function, Venerable Abbess Manshin led the congregation in reciting the Sutra and in prayers.

These were followed by Venerable Master Hsing Yun's Prayer for World Peace reading. Sister Bertha Hurley and Very Reverend Lawrence Kimberley also recited their prayers for World Peace, followed by speeches by distinguished guests.

The Buddha’s Birthday Dharma Function and The Little Prince Fun day activity was filled with lively

programmes, including a Baby Blessing Ceremony, Prince Siddhartha Exhibition, Bathing the Buddha, Flower offerings, Sutra Transcription and Praying at the Main Shrine. The food stall section was rich with a Bouncing Castle, Vegetarian Bazaar, Free Health Clinic, Singing, Folk Dancing and Musical Instrument Performances.The public thanked FGS for holding such a meaningful event to celebrate the birthday of Buddha and to pray for World Peace during this difficult pandemic period.

This kind gesture of FGS warmed them and filled their hearts with hope and positive vibes.

The 2021 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing education program was successfully conducted at Fo Guang Shan Auckland and Christchurch from 3rd May to 1st June. The festival was attended by 25 schools with over 7730 students, teachers, and parents across 38 sessions. Throughout the education program, the New Zealand Police have worked closely with the Temple enabling primary and secondary school students aged 5 to 18 from different cultural backgrounds to learn about the value of truth, virtue, and beauty.

about the 3G4G, such as watching the animation video The Life of Buddha, Light offerings, making origami lotus flowers, experiencing Chinese calligraphy, striking the wishing bell, pasting the 3G4G tattoo and mindfulness meditation.

Zealand Police supported 38 sessions in the Auckland and Christchurch Temple. They interacted with the students with fun and engaging roleplaying sessions to encourage the students to make the right decisions in life.

In particular, the students enjoyed the Laba Congee refreshment prepared by the Temple. Cyroe, a student from Finlayson Park School, had 13 bowls of congee and was deeply grateful for the food provided by the Temple. In addition, four students from Ormiston Junior College volunteered to cook the Laba congee for their classmates, putting service in action. The New

The event was attended by 400 students from four Christchurch schools: Hornby High School, Wharenui School, Te Waka Unua School and Te Kōmanawa Rowley School. The festival was led and conducted by BLIA NZ South Island Director Member Kokwei Low, assisted by 20 BLIA members and volunteers.

The teachers and students were very grateful to FGS Christchurch and its team for their careful planning and event arrangements. They thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful activities and were enriched by the deep meanings these activities embraced that helped them establish a positive attitude towards life. On 5th June 2021, FGS Auckland invited seven police officers, including Counties Manukau East Area Commander Inspector Scott Gemmell, Senior Sergeant Anson Lin, Snr Constable Matt Green, Snr Constable Marina Phillips, Snr Constable Mo’unga-E-Kaha’u Kaifa, Constable Piho, and Constable Paul Zhao from New Zealand Police and their families to attend the warm and moving awards ceremony. Abbess Manshin presented the award to the police officers for their wholehearted support over the years for the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing education program and all other events held at the Temple.

Snr Sgt Anson Lin said since he first participated in the 3G4G education program eight years ago, he was especially delighted to witness the growth of the participating schools from three schools with a few hundred students to 25 schools with over 7000 students, teachers and parents; this is truly remarkable.

New Zealand Police wish to continue to work with the Temple to pass on the value of 3G4G to more people, coherently building a harmonious community.

New Counties Manukau East Area Commander Taking Office Understanding the Value of the Temple in the Community On 26th May 2021, former Area Commander of Counties Manukau East Area Inspector Wendy Spiller and Senior Sergeant Anson Lin accompanied newly appointed Inspector Scott Gemmell to FGS Auckland. It was Inspector Gemmell's first time visiting the Temple. He learnt about the Temple's everyday operations and the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing education program.

to deliver a blessing on behalf of the Temple.

FGS Auckland appreciates the excellent cooperation with Counties Manukau East Area Station. Every year, police officers support the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing as well as other events. This time, three police officers participated in an interactive session with the students of Baverstock Oaks School. The police officers were then given a Temple tour by FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, who presented them with the book, 366 Days with Wisdom written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun and the 2021 BLIA Annual Report.

Strengthening Communities Through Partnership with NZP Auckland went into level 4 lockdown on the 18th of August 2021. NZ police officers have been working extremely hard in enhancing community safety during the past 4 months of lockdown restriction.

FGS NZ Abbess Manshin stated that the police officers are protecting the community silently hence, the Temple should deliver care and support to these respectable community heroes.

On 7th December, Inspector Gemmell led a group of police officers to provide community

service to the Temple to express their appreciation and to give back to the Temple for their care and support.

Inspector Higson expressed his gratitude for the care received from the Temple which kept their spirits up during lockdown and strengthened the bonds between the team. The police officers felt grateful for the opportunity to get out of the office to serve the community.

北島佛光山關懷社區警察 警民齊心共建美好社區 奧克蘭自2021年8月18日緊急進入四級 封城以來，當大家都因為疫情而無法自 由出行時，有一群人冒著被感染的風險， 依然在一線為大眾排憂解難，維持社會 秩序，他們就是紐西蘭警署部的警察。 紐西蘭佛光山住持滿信法師表示，在此 非常時期，警察們比平時更加辛苦，除 了要解決社會大眾的突發狀況，也要做 安撫情緒工作。「警察默默的保護著我 們，我們也要好好照顧這些可敬可愛的 社區保 姆。」在住持的指導下，北島住 眾每週製作豐富的素食餐點供 養道場 所轄區Counties Manukau East警局 的警察們。

FGS Auckland Tile-signing Ceremony NZ Police Officers Witnessing the Historical Moment Together On 7th December 2021, FGS Auckland organised a Tile-signing Ceremony to appreciate the support and the caring of the public towards the repair work in the Temple. The ceremony was attended by Abbess Manshin, President of BLIA NZ North Island Mr Lintao Yu, the Sub-Chapter President Ms Yulin Ku and the BLIA NZ committees. It was also a pleasure to have the Area Commander of Counties Manukau East Insp Scott Gemmell, Insp Colin Higson and police officers to participate in the ceremony on behalf of the community.

The main building of FGS Auckland was seriously damaged due to the stormy weather over the years. In order to ensure public safety, the maintenance and repair work started in early 2021.

The police officers were led by Abbess to the construction site and learnt

that the signed tiles were to be used for replacing the damage. They were glad to play a part in moving the construction materials such as tiles, cement and sand.

Inspector Gemmell shared that the construction work was remarkable and adknowledge the Temple care for the public and community as always. He expressed his honour to be involved in the ceremony by witnessing this historical moment as the connection between the Temple and the community has strengthened further.

The president of BLIA Subchapter 3 Ms Yulin Ku expressed her appreciation towards the Temple as it prioritised the public’s safety and maintained its buildings thoroughly. This is also the responsibility for BLIA members to work hand in hand with the Temple to achieve more in order to benefit the society.

警民共同見證歷史一刻 紐西蘭北島佛光山於2021年12月7日舉 辦一場別具意義的大雄寶殿頂瓦簽瓦儀 式，由住持滿信法師帶領國際佛光會北 島協會余林濤會長、顧榆齡分會長及佛 光幹部等一起進行。Counties Manukau East警局區域指揮官Inspector Scott Gemmell、副 指揮官Inspector Colin Higson及高級警長Senior Sergeant Anson Lin也應邀一同簽瓦，不但感謝捐 贈者的發心護持，也為社區大眾祈福。 紐西蘭北島佛光山主體建築包括大雄寶 殿、東禪西淨長廊等，因經年遭受風雨 侵襲，屋瓦、斗拱及硬體架構均遭受嚴 重損毀，常住掛念大眾的安危，於2021 年初啟動修繕工程。佛光人感念常住沉 重負擔，紛紛發心護持道場修繕工程。常 住為感謝大眾的護持，特別舉行簽瓦儀 式，在瓦片簽上捐贈者的名字及祝福的

字語，回向大眾吉祥平安、富貴康樂。 住持滿信法師帶領警官們前往實地了解 屋瓦的損壞情況，並說明大家簽名的瓦 片就是用來替換這些損壞的屋瓦。警官 們感受到工程的艱鉅，也一起協助搬運 瓦片、水泥及沙子等材料。 Inspector Gemmell指揮官表示在現場 看到屋頂的損壞程度，才了解到工程團 隊進行修復工程非常了不起，讚歎常住 照顧大眾安全的用心，並表示再次見證 了歷史性的一刻，感覺警署部與道場的 連結與情誼更增進一步。 第三分會顧榆齡會長感謝常住將大眾的 安危作為第一考量，用心維護道場的一 草一木，一磚一瓦。身為佛光人應該要為 常住分擔，做佛教的護法，共同為人間佛 教留在紐西蘭而貢獻力量。

New Zealand Police Ethnic Internal Support Network Hui Held at FGS Auckland On the 7th May 2021, Fo Guang Shan Auckland held the New Zealand Police Ethnic Internal Support Network Hui. Deputy Police Commissioner Wallace Haumaha, Inspector Rakesh Naidoo, Ethnic Responsiveness Manager Jessica Phuang, and 130 police officers from various cultural backgrounds participated in the event.

The theme of the conference was We Before I: Caring for Yourself and the Public. FGS NZ Abbess Manshin was also invited to pray for the conference to be held smoothly.

Deputy Police Commissioner Wallace Haumaha stated in his speech that this conference is entering its 10th anniversary. The police officers have been working hard and achieved many brilliant results together. The Deputy Commissioner encouraged police officers to take pride in their multicultural backgrounds as New Zealand is a multi-racial country.

He also hopes that everyone can bring their cultural values to this country, utilising the advantages of language and cultural background at work to provide better service to the community and ensure the safety of the country.

15,000 RAT Kits Given to 100 NZ Schools Sponsored by BLIA World HQ Taiwan A wave of Omicron outbreaks in New Zealand in mid-February 2022 severely impacted school operations. Principals have expressed difficulties in getting supplies of the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). FGS NZ Abbess Manshin was concerned about the community and reported the situation to BLIA World Headquarters. The President Most Venerable HsinBau, Acting President Venerable TzuJung and Secretary General Venerable ChuehPei from headquarters immediately donated 15,000 RAT kits to New Zealand.

The RAT Kits sponsored by Buddha’s Light International Association World Headquarters from Taiwan had arrived at Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple Auckland at 1 pm, 14th March 2022.

Abbess led the BLIA members to pack the RAT Kits and contact the schools to arrange pick-up or delivery. New Zealand Police was acting fast in the planning and distribution of the RAT kits to the community schools by The Director of 2023 International Women in Policing Conference Inspector Wendy Spiller, Counties Manukau East Area Commander Inspector Scott Gemmell, Inspector Colin Higson, Senior Sergeant Anson Lin and a number of community officers from the Counties Manukau East Police Station.

and Inspector Higson led the Temple Team to take care of the Principals and teachers who came to collect the RAT and understand the school's situation. Senior Sergeant Anson with Venerable Rulian led another team to deliver the kits to school. Part of the kits was sent to FGS Christchurch immediately and received at 9pm on the same day. In a gesture of goodwill and generosity, an unnamed Air NZ employee and a Customs member decided to waive the freight charge upon learning that the kits are given to schools for free.

The next day, 15th March, FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi led three groups of BLIA members to distribute RAT kits, hand sanitisers and masks to schools in Christchurch.

The teachers were touched by the generosity and efficient act of the Temple to relieve the outbreak pressure of schools. They were surprised to learn that the resources were distributed to them within 24 hours of arriving in Auckland from Taiwan.

When schools received scarce resources from police officers and BLIA members, they shared appreciation posts on their Facebook pages. The principals and teachers were grateful for the timely kindness,

which boosted parents' confidence to send their kids to school and ease the school operation. After the pandemic, they hope to bring the students to Temple to participate in the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing.

Inspector Spiller stated she felt special to be with the team to witness the RATs distribution and the schools have been so grateful for the kindness. It will be great to share in the police newsletter. Inspector Gemmell applauded the bravery and high efficiency of BLIA members in shouldering the responsibility to take care of the community. In addition, Inspector Higson commented there was overwhelming gratitude from the schools to the Temple and a sense that the kits will enable the teaching staff to continue to support their children.

Up to 18th March, nearly 100 schools in Auckland and Christchruch have received 15,000 kits. The schools were grateful for the supplies from BLIA World HQ as they expressed their desperate need for RAT kits during this challenging time. School principals and teachers extremely appreciate the prompt assistance from Temple and Police, who care and provide enormous support on time.

FGS Auckland Care for the Community Schools A number of school communities are reporting positive Covid-19 cases, yet the epidemic prevention supplies are scarce in New Zealand. FGS Auckland received the hand sanitisers donation from devotees in June 2021 & February 2022 respectively. FGS NZ Abbess Manshin immediately instructed the team to contact local schools and share the resources to them.

Once the hand sanitisers arrived, the Venerable, Temple Staff and BLIA members helped to organise and deliver a total of 212 cartons of hand sanitisers to 12 local schools. This had helped the schools to relieve the pandemic outbreak pressure and support the school operation.

The recipient schools had participated in the 7th 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing 2021 and have formed a deep bond with the Temple ever since.

Principals, teachers and students expressed their gratitude to the Temple for their genuine care and support.

These precious supplies are like timely rain, which arrive just in time when the schools are needed the most.

Abbess appreciated the collective effort of the Temple team in delivering the resources to schools in an efficient manner. She hopes that the resources can help the schools, and the wellbeing of students and teachers can be well taken care of.

FGS Christchurch Show Love & Support for Schools In late August 2021, the Delta strain arrived in New Zealand which aroused a high level of vigilance against the epidemic. From September to November, for the health of the community, BLIA NZ South Island donated 2,000 hand sanitisers and 200 masks to over 20 schools and public welfare organisations around Christchurch.

The epidemic materials were delivered to school, while some school representatives came to FGS Christchurch to collect them. The schools thanked FGS Christchurch and BLIA NZ South Island for their kind deeds of donating hand sanitiser during this epidemic which helped strengthen the students' awareness of the epidemic.

BLIA members also took the opportunity to promote the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing and Sharing the Laba Congee to Local Community activities. The school representative felt that these events

were meaningful and looked forward to participating. Some schools even signed up immediately for their students to join. When the school

representatives came to the Temple to collect hand sanitisers, they praised the peaceful and tranquil atmosphere of the Temple.

南島佛光人關懷校園 贈防疫用品表愛心 紐西蘭於2021年8月下旬遭Delta疫情來 襲，引起全國對疫情的高度警備。國際 佛光會紐西蘭南島協會關懷社區大眾健 康，特於9月至11月捐贈防疫物資予基督 城學府，總共送出2千支洗手液及200片 口罩予20餘所中小學、語言學校及公益 團體。 除了南島佛光人親自走入校園捐贈防疫 物資，也有學校前來南島佛光山領取。受 贈學校感謝南島協會及常住的善舉，在 疫情期間捐贈洗手液猶如及時雨，加強 學生對防疫的警覺。 佛光 人也向學 校 宣導協會及常住舉 辦 的「三好四給人間佛教文化節」和「臘八 粥敦親睦鄰」活動，校方感到很有意義， 表示會向學生推廣，有的學校立馬報名 參加。前來道場領取洗手液的校方代表， 對道場的莊嚴和寧靜氛圍大表讚歎。

FGS Chch was Selected as one of the Exceptional Architecture in Chch To revitalize the urban development of Christchurch after the earthquake, the New Zealand charity Te Pūtahi Centre for Architecture and City Making held the Open Christchurch event from 15th-16th May 2021. The event featured 46 representative buildings and monuments in Christchurch. FGS Chch was the only Buddhist Temple among the selected buildings.

The other buildings included are the Christchurch Town Halls, botanical gardens, city library, museums, art

galleries, theatres, clock towers, green buildings, new and modern buildings, historic schools, churches and residential houses. The two days event, attracted more than 12,000 local visitors to the listed buildings and sites. FGS Chch building alone attracted more than 1000 visitors.

FGS NZ Abbess Manshin led a team of over 10 people to introduce the architectural concept of the Temple to the public. Three volunteers were also sent by Te Pūtahi to support the

event. The visitors included Deputy Mayor of Christchurch Andrew Turner, Christchurch City Councillor Anne Galloway, former Superintendent Virginia Le Bas, architects, designers, teachers and other professionals.

Visitors were curious about the building concept, engineering methods, and more. They have gained a great deal of valuable knowledge through the BLIA members’ explanations.

紐西蘭基督城開放日 南島佛光山建築吸引千人參訪 為振興震後基督城的都市發展，紐西蘭公 益團體Te Pūtahi Centre for Architecture and City Making於 2 0 21年 5月15日 及16日舉 辦「 基 督 城 開 放日 — O p e n Christchurch」，甄選當地具代表性的 46座建築及古蹟開放讓民眾參觀，南島 佛光山也在入選名單之中，是全部入選 建築當中唯一的佛教道場。 其他入選的建築包括新舊市政廳、植物 園、藝術廊、劇院、鐘樓、綠建築、歷史 悠久的學校及教堂等。這些建築在兩日 內吸引12,000位民眾前往參觀，而南島 佛光山道場兩日共吸引逾千人參觀。

presidents Louisa Kuo and Cao Qian with 35 BLIA and YAD members working on a forest restoration project organised by Christchurch City Council at Victoria Park Port Hills and Travis Wetland Christchurch.

Rangers Fiona Fenton and John Skilton led the BLIA members with the restoration maintenance work.

They appreciated BLIA members' volunteering to help with this restoration work. The work was done efficiently and in a short amount of time with excellent teamwork. BLIA members also cherished these affinities gained as they helped to restore the earth's ecology.

南島佛光人啟動 T-EARTH 森众計畫 護育森林保護地球 國際佛光會紐西蘭南島協會響應本山和 國際佛光會推動的「T-EARTH 森众計 畫」，於2021年10月16日及11月20日啟 動紐西蘭「NZ T-EARTH 森众計畫」復 育活動。 活動分別由協會第一分會長郭名遠及第 二分會長曹倩，帶領35位及20位南島佛 光人及佛光青年，前往基督城Port Hills 森林保護區的維多利亞公園（Victoria P a r k ）以 及 最 大 的 濕 地 公 園 Tr a v i s Wetland，參與基督城市政府的復育林地 活動。 市政府活動負責人Fiona Fenton及John Skilton帶領佛光人進行復育工作，他們 感謝佛光人的協助，原本需要很長時間 進行的工作，在佛光人龐大的力量下快 速 地 完 成任 務。佛光 人也 珍 惜 難 得 因 緣，為能照顧地球生態而感到歡喜。

BLIA NZ South Island Sharing Laba Congee to Community On the 3rd and 4th December 2021, FGS Christchurch held its annual Sharing Laba Congee for Community event. BLIA South Island President Mr Bernie Siew led 40 BLIA members and volunteers to deliver 2,400 bowls of Laba congee to the Christchurch community, which warmed people’s hearts.

10 of her members to try the Laba congee. The public received the congee and appreciated the Temple’s kindness during this pandemic. In addition, there were many people who were enthusiastic about the Vege A campaign and wished to become vegetarians in order to protect the planet.

The Laba congee was warmly received by many retail stores and schools. The teachers and students from St James Primary School and Ngutuawa School appreciated the delicious congee delivered by the BLIA members. The Canterbury Embroidery Society President Ms Marie Meyer also came along with

New Year Pilgrimage and Sutra Transcription On 1st January 2022, more than 160 people lined up at 6am at the Main Gate of Fgs Auckland, to participate in the annual Pilgrimage and Sutra

Transcription. The Venerables led the devotees to recite the name of Sakyamuni Buddha and prostrate towards the Main Shrine. Participants

sincerely prayed for world peace, recovery from the pandemic and good health.

May All Beings Live Without Fear and Coexist in Peace is the 2022 Dharma Words from Venerable Master Hsing Yun. He encourages everyone to uphold our faith and it will give us the necessary strength to free ourselves from fear and live together in peace, which lead to the true path to happiness and peace.

New Year Couplets written by the Venerable Master were given to all the participants as a token of blessings

by Abbess Manishin. She shared that regardless of what races and countries we are from, this is a great lesson for us in learning to live within peace and coexist in the pandemic.

She also wishes that everyone lives with new aspirations, new behaviour and new vows in 2022.

of vegetarian foods to facilitate the public to cultivate compassion during the year.

Abbess Manshin, along with the monastery at the Temple, and a variety of different groups have been meeting continuously and persistently for various days to plan the movement of all areas, including the parking area and shrines. This was done to ensure the control of the number of people, the scanning of vaccination passes, and divert the flow of people efficiently and carefully. The Ormiston Police Station, where the Temple is located

next to, had also sent police officers to escort the public to ensure that they have a safe and secure New Year when the pandemic is under the red light of the New Zealand Traffic Light System.

In the Chinese New Year Dharma Service, Abbess shared Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s new year blessing words, May All Beings Live Without Fear and Coexist in Peace. She represented FGS New Zealand monastery to give out the auspicious Chinese New Year red packets to the public as a blessing for the year.

FGS Auckland Welcomes the Year of Tiger On 1st February 2022, at 7 am on the first day of the Chinese New Year, Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple Auckland welcomed all the people who came to offer incense, light up praying lights, and pray for blessings.

Health Talk at FGS Chch On 24th July 2021, FGS Christchurch organised a Health Talk: Superior Immunity – A Solution to The Global Health Crisis. Dr Patterson Stark,a double board-certified in both Anti-Aging Medicine & Lifestyle Medicine and a US-trained Chiropractic Physician, was invited as the speaker. A total of 50 people attended the Health Talk including Minister in Charge of Fo Guang Shan Christchurch Venerable Juexi, BLIA NZ South Island President Bernie, BLIA members, Dr Patterson’s wife Gayel Marquet and the general public.

Dr Patterson analyzes the common diseases and the causes faced by people. He explained how to reverse suffering through nutrition and also

discussed the pandemic crisis in the current era. According to Dr Patterson, only by adjusting to a positive lifestyle will our lives become happier and longer.

Dr Patterson also quoted Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s statement: If we do our best to benefit society with kindness and practice the Three Good Deeds, we will surely be blessed with good and beautiful lives. The audience interacted with Dr Patterson and raised questions pertaining to the talk. They also thanked Dr Patterson for the lively and informative talk which enabled them to learn a lot of new and valuable knowledge as well as to have a deeper understanding of health and medical care.

The freshly-baked muffins have an attractive golden colour, and the fragrant smell of the muffins permeates the entire Teahouse. The smell of the muffins is delightful to

the customers that step into the restaurant, especially for those who love muffins. It is a local favourite as there are often long queues of people waiting to get a bite. Additionally, people are often quick to order the muffins when they see them on the display shelf.

The Water Drop Teahouse launched the Happy Hour Coffee promotion, which started in July 2021. Anyone who brings their reusable coffee cup between 9am to 11am will receive a 50% discount on their coffee purchase. Since its launch, the event has been well received by locals. Most of the customers are coffee-loving office workers working nearby. They often bring in their colourful reusable cups to the Water Drop Teahouse when buying coffee to enjoy the half-price discount and practice the concept of minimising, low-carbon, and cherishing the earth's resources. The café's staff also appreciate everyone's cute and colourful coffee cup designs and getting to know more about each other's culture.

Exhibition set off a wave of collision of wisdom and innovation, combining art and humanities together.

Starting in 2017, the Art Salon aims to foster harmony through Art in Aotearoa, New Zealand. This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Art Salon. Under the guidance of the Curator of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery NZ Abbess Manshin, the developing team has been working tirelessly to bring the 5th Art Salon Online on 1st Nov 2021 to light amidst the current Covid-19 Restrictions.

After tremendous effort and hard work by the Gallery staff and developing teams, the online website features over 450 artworks from 91 local artists and pioneered using the latest technology to display the artworks in 2D and 3D viewing halls, introducing a new milestone for the Art Salon.

The visual feast features various genres, including sculptures, glass art, jewellery, ceramics, paintings, photographs, mosaic art, batik, weaving, embroidery, textile and more! The website had over a 40,000 click-through rate within a month since its’ launch. The 2021 Art Salon Online

Artists who participated expressed their appreciation for the Gallery’s efforts and congratulated the team for the fantastic standard of the website for the 2021 art exhibition. They also thanked the team for treating their works with care and a professional attitude. The exhibition also received numerous positive feedbacks, with visitors expressing their gratitude and blessings.

The curator hoped that the visitors would brighten up their minds and heart through art. In addition, the curator hoped that the efforts of the public would bring more joy and warmth to the community and that everyone was taking care and staying safe amid this global pandemic. 由佛光緣 美術館紐西蘭館主 辦的年度 「藝術沙龍展」旨在協助紐西蘭本土藝 術文化發展並促進社會和諧，自2017年 創辦以來，已經走過了五週年。2021年 在館長滿信法師的帶領下，館方不遺餘 力地將活動拓展到網絡，首次採用線上 展覽的方式溫暖疫情中的大眾。

On 13th November 2021, Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Auckland organised the 2021 Art Salon Online Blessing and Celebration – Embrace our Community Online Event. The event started with reciting A Prayer to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva for Safety from the Novel Coronavirus, which delivers blessings to New Zealand and the whole world. By utilising technological advancement, the Opening Ceremony of 2021 Art Salon was able to be held online, providing the hope and beauty of art. Over 150 attendees joined this online event.

The event was streamed live on Zoom and YouTube. Many distinguished

guests conveyed their congratulatory messages online before the event.

Artists from all over Aotearoa also went online and expressed their gratitude to the Art Gallery for their dedication and hard work. The schedule for the event was concise but meaningful. Apart from a heartwarming Blessing Ceremony, there was a premiere for the 2021 Art Salon Online Ribbon-cutting Ceremony.

In addition, when a video that summarised the preparatory process for the 2021 Art Salon was streamed, these joyful and good memories brought some tears of joy, as it touched the hearts of the audiences.

Speech by Guests & Artists The Curator of FGY NZ Abbess Manshin said that the 5th Art Salon was a breakthrough and milestone for the Art Gallery Team. This signifies that the future is going to be more innovative and bring forth a limitless world. Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery has been providing a platform to the artists unconditionally, hoping that the beautiful masterpieces can connect with hearts while adding warmth and colours to the world. The curator urged the public to make full use of the Land of the Long White Cloud to display more artworks with joy, which leads to unleashing more potential and wisdom of human beings, aiming to bring peace and happiness.

Though there has been a tremendous amount of work put into this exhibition, it was joyful and rewarding at the same time. The key motivation for all of us was that we wanted to bring something colourful and beautiful to the community, especially during this challenging time.

NZ Human Right Commission Race Relations Commissioner Mr Meng Foon said he envisions that the 5th Art Salon online is going to be awesome. He acknowledged all the good work that the Team has done at the Fo Guang Shan Temple for the community. The Art Salon exhibition brought colours and happiness into our lives.

MP for Botany Mr Christopher Luxon congratulated the Team for delivering the wonderful art exhibition in such a creative way during this challenging time. This exhibition brought different cultures and artists together. The

Counties Manukau East Area Commander Inspector Scott Gemmell said at this particular time, it’s wonderful to feel the generosity and sincerity that has gone into an online capacity. He hopes we could be like the rock at this particular time and keep working through what we needed to work through, listen to people’s concerns and still be calm in our hearts.

Opening of Professor KUO Yen-Chiao’s Traditional Chinese Painting Exhibition On 6th June 2021, Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Auckland held the opening ceremony for Professor KUO Yen-Chiao’s Traditional Chinese Painting Exhibition. The ceremony was attended by Curator of FGY Art Gallery NZ Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge of FGY Art Gallery Christchurch Venerable Juexi, President of the BLIA NZ North Island Mr Lintao Yu, daughter of Professor Kuo as well as the Deputy President of the BLIA NZ South Island Ms MingYuan Kuo, Chairperson of the Howick Local Board Ms Adele White, artist David Lin, calligrapher Rex Young, friends of FGY and BLIA members.

Abbess Manshin shared that Professor Kuo is a respected artist.

His ink paintings are rich in detail and demonstrate respect and understanding of nature. Venerable Master Hsing Yun has always

supported the idea that art should be brought to life and that the joy of life should be spread throughout the world. Thus, FGY Auckland and Christchurch strive to construct a platform for people to connect with the arts to purify their hearts with beauty.

In her speech, Ms Kuo expressed that the exhibition at the FGY Auckland fulfilled her father’s wish for a 100-year-old touring exhibition. She felt grateful towards FGY Auckland for holding an exhibition for her father’s artworks so that his paintings could once again be displayed in front of the public. She also shared that since migrating to New Zealand, her family has been showered with care and love by the Venerables and BLIA members; Ms Kuo was overfilled with joy and gratitude.

Afterwards, the guests expressed their admiration for the exquisite manner in which Professor Kuo went about his work and remarked that they felt the peace and tranquillity of Mother Nature and the beauty of traditional Chinese art from the painting.

Winter Buffet Brighten Up the Beauty of Life On June 26th 2021, FGY Art Gallery Auckland held the Winter Buffet and attracted more than 150 FGY friends and people from all walks of life to participate. The Temple prepared a wide variety of delicious vegetarian feasts and arranged various activities such as the Art Tour of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s One-Stroke Calligraphy Exhibition, Professor KUO YenChiao’s Traditional Chinese Painting Exhibition and performances by BLIA NZ YAD.

Appreciate the Beauty of Mother Nature On 1st August 2021, the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Auckland held the opening ceremony for Toney Su's Treasure of Nature Enlighten You Photography Exhibition. The ceremony was attended by over 70 people, the Curator of FGY Art Gallery New Zealand Abbess Manshin, President of BLIA NZ North Island Mr Lintao Yu, Councillor of Howick Wards Ms Sharon Stewart, Chairperson of Howick Local Board Ms Adele White, Dr Powhiri Rika-Heke, NZP Senior Sergeant Anson Lin, art lovers and friends of the art gallery. The ribboncutting ceremony then began with a Maori blessing from Dr Powhiri.

Toney Su is a Taiwanese photographer who has been working in the photography field for nearly ten years and has recently won the Canon New Zealand Super Blood Moon Photo Print Competition.

The Curator Abbess Manshin appreciated Venerable Master Hsing Yun for bringing the wisdom, energy and spirit of kindness to New Zealand, as well as the aesthetics of human life. The Temple is a place for mind purification and exerting potential. By practicing the spirit of the Three Acts of Goodness and Four Givings, serving the community and constructing a harmonious society with goodness and beauty is also a form of art.

Toney expressed his gratitude to Abbess Manshin for encouraging him to come to New Zealand in 2019, giving him many opportunities to learn and grow, including hosting the photography exhibition. Toney also thanked the team in the Temple for supporting him and making the exhibition possible. Through Toney's lenses, he hopes that the audiences

can appreciate the relationship between nature and themselves to achieve not only spiritual, but also environmental preservation.

The Chairperson of Howick Local Board Ms Adele White, was impressed by the photos taken

by Toney. She shared that it was great to see the Temple supporting talented youth unconditionally and sharing their beauty with the community.

Snr Sgt Anson shared that looking at Toney’s artworks brings him a sense of calm and a moment to reflect on himself amid his busy life. Under the guidance of Abbess Manshin, everyone has the opportunity to improve and reach their full potential.

The Prince Siddhartha Exhibition Audience Attracted to the Buddhist Stories Since April 2019, The Prince Siddhartha Exhibition of FGY Art Gallery Auckland has been very popular among the locals.

Stepping into the exhibition hall transported guests into a magical world with more than 10,000 colourful wish cards displayed on the walls by the entrance and the hall's interior walls. Every visitor would write down their heartfelt wishes and post them on the walls after light offerings and prayers. Then, they could pick Venerable Master Hsing Yun's wise word scrolls while understanding the story of how Prince Siddhartha achieved enlightenment through the short film titled The Life of the Buddha.

During the 2021 Buddha's Birthday Celebration, two QR codes were displayed in the exhibition hall for learning about Buddhism in English, one of which was the Bodhi Light

Tale podcast. By the production team of the Fo Guang Shan Institute of Humanistic Buddhism, the stories of Buddhist scriptures told by Venerable Master are podcasted for the convenience of the public, sharing the power of right mindfulness to benefit many. A YouTube channel named Fo Guang Shan English Dharma Services is also available for English speaking Dharma enthusiasts to explore their inner light and peace.

Both channels were successful and gained many subscribers.

悉達多太子特展 英文佛學故事廣受歡迎 佛光 緣 美 術 館 紐 西 蘭 一 館「 悉 達 多太 子特展」自2019年4月開展以來深受當 地人歡迎，2021年共接待超過3萬名訪 客，累計抽取星雲大師法語近14萬張。 走入展場仿佛進入一個奇幻空間，從入 口處 的 整 個 外墻 到 展 廳 內四 壁，張 貼 著色 彩斑 斕10萬 張以 上的 許願卡。每 位參觀者都會在獻燈祈願後，寫下自己 的心願張貼在牆上，再到亮閃閃的「開 悟樹」及「三好四給樹」下，抽取大師法 語。同時透過觀摩《佛陀的一生》影片， 了解悉達多太子如何成就佛果的故事。 2021佛誕節期間展廳內特別張貼了兩 張有關英文佛學的QR Code，其一是 「Bodhi Light Tale播客」，由人間佛 教研究院 國際中心製作團隊將星雲大 師的佛典小故事，用podcast方式播出， 方便忙碌的現代人聆聽，讓生命增添正 念的力量。另一個是「Fo Guang Shan English Dharma Services」Youtube 頻道，讓熱愛佛法的英文人士能在學習 佛法中發現光明與和平，這兩個頻道都 得到許多訪客掃碼關注。

SAQA, also launched their Oceania Distance and Diversity Regional Exhibition in the FGY Chch on 6th November 2021, with 29 pieces of artworks on display. Artists from New Zealand, Australia, the United States and Uruguay displayed their artworks until 23rd December. The artists Julia Arden and Catherine McDonald were the coordinators of these two art

On 3rd April 2021, the Aotearoa Quilters held its Cities of the World Quilt Art Exhibition opening ceremony at the FGY Art Gallery Christchurch. The ceremony was attended by FGY NZ Curator Abbess Manshin, Director of FGY Art Gallery Auckland Venerable Rulian, Director of FGY Art Gallery Christchurch Venerable Juexi and 16 other participating artists, with about 30 people present at the venue.

The Cities of the World world tour exhibition was organised by the Aotearoa Quilters society and

showcased 90 artists, with 30 each from New Zealand, Japan and France consecutively. They created their quilt work based on some of the most representative landmarks of 30 cities worldwide. On 1st May, two artists from the Aotearoa Quilters, Lee Harper and Verina Thirlwell, came to FGY Chch to give demonstrations on patchwork quilting. 30 people comprising friends of FGY and BLIA NZ South Island members attended the demonstration.

The attendees to the demonstration were amazed by the skills of Verina and Lee in producing such high standard works.

Following the Cities of the World exhibition, which received an enthusiastic response, artists from another patchwork art association,

YAO Hong-Ying’s Magnificence of Embroidery Exhibition at FGY Chch On 15th May 2021, Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch hosted the opening ceremony of Embroidery Artist YAO HongYing’s Magnificence of Embroidery Exhibition. The event was attended by hundreds of guests, including representative of the MP for Christchurch Central Dr Duncan Webb, Christchurch Deputy Mayor Mr Andrew Turner, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Christchurch Mr WANG Zhijian, Christchurch City Councillor Ms Anne Galloway, Canterbury Embroiderers’ Guild Chairperson Ms Marie Meyer, Artists, BLIA NZ South Island President Bernie Siew and friends of FGY. FGY Curator Abbess Manshin said in her speech, the 11-year-awaited YAO Hong-Ying’s Magnificence of Embroidery Exhibition has finally reappeared with her exquisite works presented to the people of Christchurch. In recent years, Christchruch has experienced several disasters and needs to be cheered up with colours and inspirations. In a way, this fulfils Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s wishes of giving joy to the people of Christchurch. Attendees of this opening ceremony greatly admired the beautiful traditional embroidery art of the Orient.

During the exhibition from May to October 2021, more than 11,000 people have visited, including 64 visiting groups. Among these groups included the local Embroidery Association, Air New Zealand staff, students from elementary school,

elderly from nursing homes, walking groups, members of the MG Car Cluband, members of Japanese Kimono Association. The diversity of the visitors with their occupations, ages and nationalities showed a rich exchange of art and culture, which also brought endless surprises and touches to the public.

FGY Chch MG Classic Car Show On 21st July 2021, the carpark of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch welcomed 25 MG classic cars. These cars were owned by members of MG Car Club of Canterbury Centre who drove them to the Art Gallery to share their popular, fashionable, classic and eye-catching 20th century creations with the public. The vast fleet of classic cars was warmly welcomed by the Curator of FGY Art Gallery New Zealand Abbess Manshin, Director of FGY Art Gallery Christchurch Venerable Juexi. Retired Detective Superintendent of the NZP Ms Virginia Le Bas and more than 30 visitors and friends of FGY.

Curator Abbess Manshin delivered a welcoming speech expressing her delight that the visit of the classic cars had brought colour and joy to the Art Gallery, and that the holding of this unique Classic Car Show would instil positive energy into Christchurch, which was needed to revive the spirit of the city after the 2011 earthquake. Virginia Le Bas said in her speech: "I am very impressed that the FGY Chch has often hosted activities that are beneficial to the community and the interesting events always bring joys and surprises to the public". Ted Clarke, president of

MG Car Club of Canterbury Centre, delivered a speech: "I would like to thank FGY Art Gallery for the very warm hospitality extended to us, the degree of which has surprised and delighted all of us. We are all classic car enthusiasts and are very happy to drive our favourite cars to FGY Gallery to share with the public. In addition to the Car Show we are looking forward to visiting the Embroidery Exhibition at the exhibition hall, and to enjoying the vegetarian meals at the Water Drop Café".

From 7th to 15th August 2021, Christchurch potter Della Goodinson held a Pottery Flash Demo Show at the FGY Christchurch. Abbess Manshin and Venerable Juexi, friends of the FGY Art Gallery and 40 members of the public attended the live demonstration. Della expressed this was her first time having the Pop-up Demo Exhibition and had a sharing session in front of so many people.

She was very happy to share her knowledge of pottery with the public and thanked the art gallery for this rare opportunity. She shared that she hopes to have the opportunity to conduct similar events in the future and to reach out to different groups to interact with people on an advanced level. 二館另外一場「陶藝快閃展」於2021年 8月7日至15日舉辦，紐西蘭基督城陶藝 家Della Goodinson在二館為大眾現場 示範拉胚，館長滿信法師、主任覺西法 師、佛光緣之友及大眾40人出席欣賞。 這是陶藝家第一次舉辦「快閃展」，也是 第一次面對大眾進行教學，非常感謝館 方給予此難得的因緣可以與眾分享陶藝 知識。她希望以後再有機緣進行類似活 動，接觸不同群體，達到更深層的互動 交流。

The Joint Opening Ceremony at FGY Art Gallery Christchurch On 8th January 2022, Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch held a joint opening ceremony for the Common Threads Embroidery Exhibition and the Fictional Memories Photography Exhibition. The ceremony was attended by 115 people, including FGY Art Gallery Curator Abbess Manshin, Minister in charge of FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi, Canterbury Embroidery Guild President Marie Meyer, representative of Australia New Zealand Embroidery Association Lynette Crowther, Exhibition Coordinator Ros McCarthy, members of Canterbury Embroidery Guild, famous photography artist Lisa Powers, Friends of FGY and members of BLIA South Island. The Common Threads Embroidery Exhibition exhibits 84 works from 45 members of the Canterbury Embroidery Guild. On behalf of the Canterbury Embroidery Guild, Marie presented a bouquet to

the Gallery to thank them for the great support rendered. On behalf of FGY Art Gallery, the bouquet was received

by Abbess Manshin and Venerable Juexi.

In her speech to the audience, Curator Abbess Manshin thanked members of the Embroidery guild and photography artist Lisa Powers for bringing their artistic creations to FGY Art Gallery to share with the public. These artistic works bring a feeling of beauty and softness to the people, uplift people’s inner quality, refine their artistic taste, and create a harmonious atmosphere for the Society. Venerable Master Hsing Yun advocates the spirit of "Giving". Even though we ourselves do not know how to create artworks, we should render our praises to the artists for their magnificent intention and action of spreading joy and confidence to people through their creations.

2021 BLIA Oceania Committee Seminar On 30th May, BLIA Oceania Secretariat held the 2021 BLIA Oceania Committee Seminar. FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge of FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi, Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian, Venerable Miaoyu, President of BLIA NZ South Island Mr Bernie Siew, President of BLIA NZ North Island Mr Lintao Yu, Sub-Chapter Presidents, committees and BLIA NZ YAD attended the online seminar with other BLIA Oceania members.

The Oceania Vice Secretary-General, Venerable Manko expressed her gratitude to all the BLIA members who participated in the meeting in

the welcoming speech. The seminar invited the President of Merit-Times Venerable Miaoyu to deliver a speech on The Wisdom Collection of Venerable Master Hsing Yun. She explained the spirit of Venerable Master through the book of Hear Me Out: Messages from a Humble Monk.

Additionally, she spoke about the challenges she faced in managing the Merit Times, how she reacted to problems by utilising Venerable Master's philosophy and ensured peace of mind when outsourcing the job to others. Meanwhile, Venerable Dr Juewei of Nan Tien Institute presented her thesis report, Flows of Innovation in Fo Guang Shan

Oceania. Her presentation described how Oceania innovatively celebrated the Buddha's Birthday in each BLIA branch.

During the group discussion, the BLIA North Island discussed the topic of "Development Strategy Over the Next 10-20 years for BLIA". In BLIA South Island, they investigated "How to adapt The Teachings of Tathagata's Lifetime to Australian and New Zealander lifestyles?". As a result, BLIA members reached a consensus in the discussion and developed a deeper understanding of Venerable Master's compassionate vow for the community.

World Conference of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery With 27 Art Galleries Worldwide On 2nd September 2021, the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Headquarters hosted the 2021 World Management Seminar, with 200 people from 27 art galleries worldwide joining the online meeting.

The New Zealand representatives included FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge of FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi, Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian and two of the gallery’s staff.

The theme for this year's gallery is A New Vision for Art and Culture. FGY Art Gallery HQ Head Curator Venerable Ruchang expressed that the FGY Art Galleries should present the elements of Humanistic Buddhism, culture and living of the Temple. The curators of FGY Art Galleries then presented their branch’s achievement: Abbess Manshin reported on the Flash Exhibition of

FGY New Zealand, Abbess Manrun reported on the Peony Exhibition of FGY Japan, Venerable Miaoshi reported on The Vision of New Art Gallery Mainland China. All the FGY branches had merged local cultures into the art gallery.

The seminar was an opportunity to learn from each other about the uniqueness, sustainability and innovation in managing the Art Galleries. The presentation broadens the horizon of each participant by showing the efforts in making use of the resources and technology in the Art Galleries. The enthusiasm of each participant also had an impact on the event. In the seminar, the participants gained a clearer view of the direction of Art Galleries and made progress towards the future.

線上召開27館熱絡參與 佛光緣美術館總部於2021年9月2日召開 「世界管理講習會」，全球27個分館近 200人共同進行視訊會議。紐西蘭館館 長滿信法師、二館主任覺西法師、一館 主任如廉法師帶領兩館館員參與。 今年以「藝文弘化新氣象」為主題，總 館長如常法師致辭表示，佛光山的美術 館要呈現道場的人間化、生活性、藝文 化。在課程中由紐西蘭館館長滿信法師 報告「紐西蘭如何藝術快閃」、日本館 館長滿潤法師報告「花開富貴日本館的 牡丹展」、大覺分館館長妙士法師報告 「大覺寺美術館新館展望」報告，將各 地文化結合藝術弘法特色，讓大眾看到 弘法的宏觀性，也讓各分館進行交流， 學習藝文弘法的有趣性、科技化的創新 及弘法的永續經營。講習會的各項報告 開拓了大眾的視野，看到各館在過去一 年做出的努力，學習到如何善用資源及 科技達到弘法效益，也從大家的弘法热 忱中燃起了新衝擊。講習會讓與會者更 明確認知藝術弘法的方向，在未來的弘 法路上共精進。

Inauguration of the 11th President and Board of Directors of BLIA North Island Perspective on the Past and the Future On 19th December 2021, BLIA North Island held the Inauguration of the 11th President and Board of Directors, followed by the gathering of the Winter Solstice. The historical moment was attended by nearly 50 people, including FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge of FGS Christchurch Ven Juexi, Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Ven Rulian, Venerables, BLIA North Island current President Mr Lintao Yu, new President Ms Yulin Ku, BLIA members and YAD. Lintao Yu expressed his gratitude to Abbess and Venerable for their care, guidance, and witnessing of his growth during his tenure. The hand over marks a fresh start for the team and he believes that the Chapter will continue to strive under the new leadership.

BLIA President Yulin thanked all the temple staff and BLIA members for their support, stating that FGS's spirit of "giving" has enabled her to fill up with joy and develop herself. BLIA members are grateful for the Temple as it provides them with opportunities to improve and learn. She hopes to deliver the good values and attitudes in New Zealand through working together.

Abbess Manshin stated that the President of BLIA should take care of each Subchapter and strengthen the vision of the association together.

Lintao was the youngest president of BLIA worldwide; he has accomplished and established the global membership system for BLIA which helps to coordinate the memberships efficiently. The Abbess encouraged

all BLIA members to endure and train themselves, work together, and enable good values to be the cultural assets of New Zealand.

Venerable led the public in chanting the Medicine Buddha Sutra and prayed for the community, hoping that the epidemic would end soon. Abbess then presented the photographic artworks taken by BLIA YAD Toney Su and the BLIA 30th Anniversary emblem to all the former and ne wly elected board members as a gift.

Lastly a fun and interactive Q&A session was held to strengthen the bonds among members. The event ended with joy and peace.

On the 2nd of October, BLIA NZ North Island held the 2021 Annual General Meeting virtually. Over a hundred people attended the online event, including FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian, Venerable Miaoyu, BLIA NZ North Island President Lintao Yu and BLIA members.

國際佛光會紐西蘭北島協會於2021年 10月2日中午舉辦會員代表大會，紐西 蘭佛光山住持滿信法師、北島監寺如廉 法師、妙禹法師、北島協會余林濤會長、 韓玉花督導長、各分會督導、分會長、幹 部、會員、佛光青年近百位通過雲端共襄 盛會。

In his speech, President Lintao expressed his gratitude to the Temple and all the BLIA members for their unconditional trust, support, assistance and tolerance during his seven years as president. He felt grateful for the opportunity to work together in contributing to society.

He was also glad to see that the association has many talents, where together with the new committee board, it will make more contributions and add more value to the society in New Zealand.

The meeting held the 10th Board of Directors election to appoint a new president, deputy president, directors and executives to shoulder the association’s affairs with the hope to achieve more in the future. The

new board members passed the first meeting and elected the committee members, who received enthusiastic support from fellow BLIA members.

NZP Senior Sergeant Anson Lin was also elected as a member of the Board of Directors of BLIA NZ North Island.

The new president of BLIA NZ North Island, Yulin Ku, expressed that Abbess Manshin always teaches us to break through ourselves, step out of our comfort zones, and grow through commitment. She appreciated the trust and support from the Temple and all the BLIA members and was honoured to take up the duty as president and hopes to do more for the community with fellow BLIA members.

BLIA NZ South Island 2021 Annual General Meeting On 2nd October, BLIA NZ South Island held its 2021 Annual General Meeting in FGS Christchurch. There were 50 people participated including Minister in Charge of FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi, BLIA South Island President Mr Bernie Siew, Deputy President Mr James Low and BLIA members.

Following the discussions on the agenda, the names of the next Committee Directors were announced and introduced to all the members .

After the meeting, the Global Buddhist Examination Awards & Certificates Presentation Ceremony was held.

performed outstandingly in the exam. Those who received awards were filled with joy and touched by the recognition.

Venerable Juexi expressed her appreciation towards the dedication and commitment of all the volunteers, especially the core members in the team, who are willing to take on the responsibilities and mission. It is clear that everyone has unlimited potential which keeps us learning and growing. A Buddhist should develop good mental qualities, to activate our inner joy, warmth and hope, which in turn can spread to the people around us.

More than 150 people consisting of FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge of FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi, Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian, BLIA North Island President Mr Lintao Yu, BLIA South Island President Mr Bernie Siew and members attended in the online AGM. The Director of Oceania Fellowship Committee Ms Dolly Tsai, who was in Taiwan, sent her regards to everyone.

Abbess Manshin stated that the contributions of BLIA members have benefited the society in the fields of culture, education and arts. BLIA members have also developed their own values through providing different services to the society which spread the beautiful and virtuous values in New Zealand.

Global Simultaneous Sutra Transcription Celebrating the 55th Anniversary of Fo Guang Shan Monastery To celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Fo Guang Shan Monastery, FGS Auckland and Christchurch actively participated in the Global Simultaneous Sutra Transcription organised by the Headquarters at 7pm on 16th May 2021. Under the leadership of FGS NZ Abbess Manshin and Venerables, approximately 120 disciples from the Auckland and Christchurch Temple reverently transcribed the Heart Sutra and recited A Prayer for All Dharma Practitioners written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Abbess Manshin explained in her speech that Buddha had tried to stamp out the Caste System in ancient India by teaching the Law of Equality to sentient beings. Today, Venerable Master leads the public to travel back to the Buddha’s era with his compassion and wisdom while practising the Buddha’s teachings

in everyday life. As disciples of the Buddha and FGS, BLIA members should treat others with the attitude, concept and value of equality. Abbess encouraged everyone to learn from Buddha’s compassion and wisdom while improving oneself by providing service to the community and spreading joy and peace on this land.

On such a special occasion and with Buddha’s blessings, the attendees accumulated virtuous thoughts and dharma joy after participating in this event with other BLIA members across the whole world, which inherently contributed to harmony in the society.

In conjunction with the Buddha’s Light Day, some BLIA members joined the sutra transcription from home as a form of spiritual practice. They had dedicated the merits of sutra transcription to pray for happiness within the family and harmony within the society.

Abbess Gives Away Auspicious Apples On 16th May 1967, Venerable Master Hsing Yun founded Fo Guang Shan in the deserted Bamboo Garden Lodge in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. On the same day in 2021, in the Southern Hemisphere, FGS Auckland and Christchurch gave away auspicious apples to disciples that participated in the Global Simultaneous Sutra Transcription. The gifting of apples to the disciples signifies auspicious

greetings from the Venerable Master, as they gathered to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Fo Guang Shan Monastery.

Respect Each Other with Equality, Coexist with Each Other in Peace has been an important concept in Humanistic Buddhism advocated by Venerable Master. On the Anniversary Day of FGS Monastery, BLIA

members in NZ of different cultural backgrounds, received the auspicious apples which signified the positivity and care from Venerable Master. They made a collective vow to follow the footsteps of Venerable Master Hsing Yun and march forward, with the aim to construct the Pure Land on Earth by forming a harmonious society.

Under the guidance of Abbess Manshin, FGS Auckland and Christchurch delivered the auspicious buns to the volunteers and passed on the message of Venerable Master.

The BLIA members and YADs were touched after receiving the buns and gave their full blessings to the beloved and greatest Venerable Master.

Having experienced 3 months of lockdown in New Zealand, the volunteers have just been allowed to return to the Temple. Therefore, the members felt even more grateful and warmer receiving the auspicious buns from the Venerable Master. They were touched and inspired by these precious buns at the end of 2021 and were looking forward to contributing to the community together with the Temple next year.

星雲大師慈心繫眾 包子溫暖紐西蘭信眾 在2021年12月20日彌陀聖誕日前夕，南 北島佛光山常住收到來自本山師父上人 的關心。師父上人慈悲，為慰勉各地弘 法徒眾及員工一年來的辛勞，特別叮囑 各別分院常住於彌陀聖誕日準備包子與 眾結緣。紐西蘭佛光山住持滿信法師接 到訊息當即指示，北島常住特別於19日 早餐、午餐為住眾、佛光人準備熱騰騰 的包子。 同時南島佛光山於20日由住持滿信法師 為員工及住眾送上包子，表達師父上人 的慈恩及祝福。享用包子的人員有常住 執事、佛光人及佛光青年。大眾接受常 住發贈的包子相當感動，將滿滿的祝福 迴向最偉大也最親愛的師父上人。 紐西蘭剛剛經歷了長達三個多月的疫情 封城，大眾陸續回到法身慧命之家，此 刻吃到大師的愛心包子倍感溫暖。這一 顆顆珍貴的包子感動並激勵著佛光人， 為2021年畫下一個溫馨圓滿的句點，也 期待來年在常住的帶領下，繼續為人間 佛教貢獻己力，發光發熱。

Volunteer Seminar at FGS Auckland Determined the Faith and Commitment On the 16th July and 4th August 2021, Volunteer Seminars were organised to build consensus among Fo Guang Shan Auckland volunteers.

The purpose of the seminar was to enhance their understanding towards the value and practice of Three Goods and Four Givings (3G4G) while serving the community. Abbess Manshin was invited to give a lesson for 60 volunteers from the Front Shrine, Main Shrine, art gallery and the kitchen.

Abbess shared that Venerable Master Hsing Yun has been serving society and the Buddhism community all his life. Even at 96 years old, Venerable Master still cares about the world.

Abbess encouraged the volunteers to construct oneself in order to provide quality service to the public with a warm and joyful heart. Through volunteering in the Temple, we share our kindness and help to build up the community together.

Volunteers expressed their gratitude to have learned all the positive attitude from Venerables and were inspired by the Temple's efforts and contributions to society. Moreover, they valued the opportunity to serve the community alongside the Temple and promised to become better people and qualified volunteers to do more goods for others.

北島佛光山 義工培訓講習會 堅定信念 敢於承擔 為讓義工菩薩凝聚共識，增強向心力，更 加深入了解道場實踐人間佛教「三好四 給」及為社區大眾服務的理念，紐西蘭北 島佛光山於2021年7月16日及8月4日舉 辦義工培訓講習會，恭請紐西蘭佛光山 住持滿信法師授課，各殿堂、美術館及 大寮服務義工近60位出席。 住持滿信法師表示，96歲的星雲大師一 生都在為大眾服務、為佛教服務，直到現 在依然心繫全球大眾。大家要勇於承擔， 用大師「四給」的精神為來寺大眾提供 最溫暖、歡喜的服務。住持勉勵大眾莊 嚴自己，一起維護道場的安寧與清淨，讓 這個法身慧命之家充滿道氣與品質，傳 遞正確的態度，建設更美好的社區。 義工們紛紛表示，很慶幸能夠在佛光山 正信道場 裡由法師們帶 領學習佛門儀 軌，住持及大眾為了護持佛法和道場，所 做出的努力令人感動，自己要珍惜因緣， 努力成為一名合格的義工，發願一起精 進用功為大眾服務。

北島佛光人 線上中秋聯誼會 築造光明清淨圓滿的心靈

BLIA North Island Mid-Autumn Festival Gathering In September of 2021, Auckland was under the closure of alert level 4 due to the Covid-19 Delta Variant pandemic. Since then, BLIA NZ North Island hosted their first online MidAutumn Festival gathering on the 19th September through ZOOM. This event gathered members online to elucidate care to the members. Over 80 people attended this online gathering, including FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian, Venerable Miaoyu, BLIA NZ North Island President Mr Lintao Yu and BLIA members.

President Lintao led the youth members to design a series of fun games related to Buddhism, which allowed everyone to learn Buddhism and bonded everyone closer in a relaxing atmosphere. The event then ended with the well-known theme song Faith.

Abbess Manshin said that Prajna Wisdom is demonstrated through

serving the public with joy and the process of improving oneself. As long as we have the determination to keep constructing, keep committing and keep giving, the wisdom of Prajna will naturally blossom into a fruitful outcome. Abbess mentioned that during the Mid-Autumn Festival, it is also important to reflect on the moon’s light shining fair on everyone.

Hence, we should also learn to be compassionate so that our hearts are as bright and pure as the full moon.

President Lintao mentioned that he was grateful for the concern and guidance from Abbess and Venerables and the technical team for their resilience and support.

Seeing everyone gather online and seeing members happily participating brought him a lot of joy. The event strengthened the bonds between BLIA members, and the members felt safe and supported with the care from the Temple.

奧克蘭因疫情封城，紐西蘭北島佛光山 與北島協會在中秋佳節即將到來之際， 特別於2021年9月19日舉辦線上中秋聯 誼會，藉此關懷大眾封城期間的生活。 活動恭請住持滿信法師、北島監寺如廉 法師、妙禹法師列席，北島協會余林濤 會長、各分會督導、會長、幹部、會員、佛 光青年80位與會。 余 會長 與佛光青 年共同策 劃流程 並設 計了一系列佛學相關的趣味遊戲環節， 讓 大家在 輕 鬆愉快的氛圍中溫習佛學 知識，拉近彼此距離，並在全體大眾共 同 表 演 人 間 音 緣 手 語 歌 曲《信 仰 》中 圓滿。 住持滿信法師開示，般若智慧呈現在歡 喜為大眾服務，也在提升自己、建築心 靈的過程中，累積福德資糧，只要不斷 建設，不斷 承擔，不斷 給予，般若智慧 自然就能開花結果。住持表示過中秋節 時要思考月亮的光芒公平的照耀著每個 人，大眾也要學習發慈悲心，讓自己的心 和月亮一樣光明、清淨、圓滿，人格就有 光明。 余林濤會長及各分會長感謝常住法師的 關心，給予思路及指導，感謝技術團隊 的傾力支持，佛光人也非常配合，可以 看到大家都迫切希望能夠參加活動。活 動增進了佛光人之間的凝聚力，因為有 住持及常住的帶領，大家在疫情期間都 獲得安心和安穩。

BLIA NZ South Island Mindfulness Life Forum BLIA NZ South Island held a Mindfulness Life Forum on 29th May 2021 at FGS Christchurch. The forum was attended by Minister in Charge of FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi, BLIA South Island President Mr Bernie Siew and more than 40 BLIA members.

The forum was hosted by BLIA South Island Subchapter 2 President Ms Cao Qian. The speakers were BLIA South Island Deputy President Mr James Low, BLIA South Island Subchapter 1 President Ms Louisa Kuo, BLIA South Island Directors Kokwei Low and Zhang Dong. In the forum, the speakers shared their experiences by applying the wisdom of Venerable Master Hsing Yun to construct a

mindful and quality life. The topics chosen were based on Venerable Master’s books: I am Not a Monk Who Takes Advantage of Buddhism, Humanistic Buddhism — Holding True to the Original Intent of Buddha, and Hear me out, from a Humble Monk.

On 13th November, the second Mindfulness Life Forum was held in FGS Christchurch. FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge of FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi, nearly 30 BLIA South Island members and over 10 BLIA North Island members participated online.

Abbess Manshin expressed that the profound teachings in Humanistic Buddhism enable BLIA members to form a solid foundation in oneself.

The most valuable asset of BLIA members is the strong and united team they have formed. The mutual protection and encouragement from fellow members are the nourishments for their spiritual growths. She hopes BLIA members strive to provide more quality and joyful service to the community so that more people can enjoy the blissfulness of the Dharma.

人間佛教閱讀研討 南島佛光人分享人間佛教的體驗 為具體落實星雲大師人間佛教的理念， 同時積極進行人間佛教的研討，國際佛 光會紐西蘭南島協會於2021年5月29日 在南島佛光山舉辦「人間佛教閱讀研討 會— —我對人間佛教的體認」，由第二 分會長曹倩主持，與談人為協會副會長 劉盎齊、第一分會長郭名遠、理事劉國威 及張棟。當天有監寺覺西法師、南島協會 會長蕭文輝等40餘名佛光人出席。研討 會以星雲大師著作《我不是呷教的和尚》 、《人間佛教佛陀本懷》及《貧僧有要話 説》為分享主題，並以自身的體驗，道出 大師人間佛教的理念。

同年11月13日舉辦第二場「人間佛教閱 讀研討會」，紐西蘭佛光山住持滿信法 師、監寺覺西法師、南島協會幹部30餘 人現場參加，北島佛光人10餘位透過線 上參與。 住持開示：「人間佛教的法海，讓佛光人 淬煉出堅毅的信念。佛光山最珍貴的是 有強大的團隊，有同參道友的惕勵，成為 成長的資糧。人間佛教要做對的和善美 的事，希望佛光人為人間佛教創造出一 條康莊大道，讓更多人來感受佛法的喜 樂。」

2021 ANZBYC Gain Strength from Faith The 23rd 2021 Australia New Zealand Buddhist Youth Conference (ANZBYC) organised by the BLIA Melbourne Young Adult Division (YAD) was held online on the 3rd and 4th July 2021. The distinguished guests of the opening ceremony include President of BLIA World HQ Most Venerable HsinBau, the Executive Director of BLIA YAD Venerable HuiChuan, the Deputy Director of BLIA YAD Venerable Rubin, the Deputy Secretary-General Oceania Region Venerable Manko, FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, Deputy President of BLIA World HQ Mr ChaoMing Liu, President of BLIA Melbourne Mr David Yu, BLIA Oceania Fellowship Committee Director Ms Dolly Tsai and President of Nan Tien Institute Australia Professor Denise Kirkpatrick. More than 40 YAD members from FGS Auckland and Christchurch also participated in the online conference together with 200 YAD members from Australia.

A total of 13 speakers delivered nine classes over the two-day conference, which were highly beneficial and

enriching for the participants. There were workshops and discussion sessions for participants from different cities to share how they are implementing the concept of 3G4G into practice in serving their local community.

In the closing ceremony on 4th July, Venerable Manko expressed that every succession is important for sustainability. All BLIA members should help and encourage each other, setting a good example by practicing Three Act of Goodness.

Abbess Manshin was pleased to see that the ANZBYC has been held for 23 years continuously.

She encouraged the participants to endure hardships and seize every opportunity to transcend and improve. Deputy President Mr Liu expressed his gratitude to Melbourne YAD for hosting the conference to enable young Buddhists to take on the mission to pass on the faith and legacy for the next generation.

To conclude the conference, the 2022 ANZBYC baton was handed over to the next host – YAD Queensland.

All are looking forward to meeting in Brisbane after the pandemic!

2021 Fo Guang Shan Youth Summit Conference

2021信仰與傳承 佛光體系青年大會師

The BLIA Headquarters organised the 2021 Fo Guang Shan Youth Summit on 26th and 27th June with the theme Faith & Legacy. Under the guidance of the President of Fo Guang Shan Executive Council Venerable HuiChuan and BLIA World HQ Acting President Venerable TzuJung, nearly thousand of YAD members together with BLIA Scouts and students of FGS Tsung-Lin university participated.

Topics discussed in the conference include development of technology, education and youth in Buddhism, and ways to develop compassion and care for society. Over 20 BLIA NZ youth members participated in the event.

啟航數位弘法的新世紀

Venerable HuiChuan mentioned that due to the challenges of the Covid-19, the annual physical conference was forced to take place online, which has shown the ability to respond towards impermanence. BLIA YAD from five continents gathered online and discussed the ways to innovate new ways of digital Dharma propagation.

The BLIA NZ YAD members are all committed to promoting and practicing what they have learned. By linking together technology and faith in this digital era, they will utilise the benefits of social media and information technology to deliver good information into society.

BLIA Auckland Youth Consensus Seminar Building a Life of Quality Stemmed from Faith 1st May 2021, BLIA NZ YAD held a Wisdom Kit - Youth Consensus Seminar. FGS NZ Abbess Manshin was invited to give a lecture on the theme of Life and Faith. BLIA North Island President Mr Lintao Yu, and youth committees Edwin and Larry led

40 youth members in the sharing and discussion of the lecture.

Abbess explains that faith is like having skilful hands, sturdy roots, a dependable wand, a boat that crosses rivers, unswerving strength and an

inner treasure. One‘s lives are blessed by faith, and faith is like a lamp that is able to brighten up a room with darkness. The seminar encourages the youths to gain strength through faith so as to enrich their life.

Sowing Bodhi Seeds There are 20 students who participate in the FGS Auckland Children Dharma Class every Sunday. BLIA YAD Thomas led the youth members to conduct the sessions. The activities include learning Buddhist rituals, chanting, sharing short stories, arts and crafts and more.

Under the guidance of teachers, the students gradually develop good habits in life such as table manners, respecting others and not littering, and practice the concept of Three Goodness and Four Givings in daily life.

On 1st & 8th August 2021, the Subchapter 3 President, Ms Yulin Ku conducted two training sessions to guide the BLIA YAD members to become tea practitioners. In order to allow more youths to have a mindfulness experience, BLIA YAD hosted a Mindfulness Tea Meditation event in FGS Auckland on 14th August.

The new tea practitioners joyfully serve the 8 participants to experience the inner peace.

茶禪是茶道和禪坐相結合的修持，2021 年8月1日和8日，北島佛光青年團邀請北 島協會第三分會顧榆齡會長帶領青年幹 部作為茶禪行者，為學員們帶來兩場禪 修課程。8月14日在光明堂舉辦青年茶禪 活動，此次活動是佛光青年們首次作為 茶禪行者，為八位學員施茶禪坐，體悟禪 茶一味的樂趣。

The practitioners expressed that they learnt about concentration through performing tea meditation. They enjoyed every step in the process while experiencing the simplicity of

Chan and tasting the sweetness of the tea. The participants enjoyed the Mindfulness Tea Meditation in a quiet and attentive atmosphere. The event invited President Lintao Yu of the BLIA North Island to share about the essence of Chan which helps the participants to construct a mindful life.

Buddhist Youth College Auckland Enriching Oneself Through Collaboration On 11th July 2021, FGS Auckland Buddhist Youth College started its yearly curriculum, which included activities such as dining service, learning about Dharma instruments, evening lessons of Buddhist Hymns and learning the Biography of the Top Ten Disciples by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian taught students the Fo Guang Essential Guides to Buddhism. However, due to

the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in August, the course was held online.

FGS NZ Abbess Manshin encouraged young people with the saying of one can walk fast, a group of people can walk far, but only collaboration and teamwork can make dreams come true. Abbess hopes everyone can gain valuable lessons from the wonderful Dharma, apply what they learned, contribute and create more value in the team.

BLIA NZ YAD Participated in Outward Bound Training Camp Fostering Faith and Growth On 3rd February 2021, Hong Kai Gu represented BLIA NZ YAD in the Outward Bound Training Camp in Anakiwa, South Island. Hong Kai was granted a sponsorship from NZ Human Rights Commission with the recommendation of Abbess Manshin.

He represented the Temple to participate in the program with more than 120 participants from all over the country.

The training camp arranged a variety of activities, including rock climbing, sailing, compass navigation in the

woods, a two-day solo survival and team collaboration activities in the ocean and the forests. The last and ultimate challenge of the camp was to complete a 21km half cross-country marathon.

Hong Kai expressed his gratitude to Abbess for allowing him to better himself and feels blessed and fortunate to serve the temple and the public. He commits to developing himself while staying true to his initial aspirations and becoming a valuable person for Buddhism and society.

紐西蘭佛光青年參加 Outward Bound 魔鬼訓練營 堅定信念 為教爭光 紐西蘭北島佛光青年顧弘開2021年2月 3日代表佛光青年團奔赴南島Anakiwa 參與為期21天的Outward Bound戶外 培訓魔鬼訓練營，並於2月24日凱旋歸 來。顧弘開在紐西蘭佛光山住持滿信法 師的推薦下，順利申請到由紐西蘭人權 組織提名贊助的參與名額，有幸成為北 島佛光山第三位前去學習歷練的青年， 本屆培訓營共有120餘位來自全國各地 的青年參加。 培訓營的課程豐富多采，既有在峭壁上 學習攀岩、海上駕駛帆船乘風破浪，也 有在山林中學習用指南針探索道路、獨 自生存兩天磨練心力以及在海洋及山林 中以團隊合作探索自然的奧妙，課程最 後一天的終極任務是完成21公里的半程 越野馬拉松。 弘開表示，感謝住持及常住給予因緣鍛 煉自己，能夠在道場服務大眾是非常幸 福及幸運的，要用心聽聞、緊緊跟上常 住的腳步，不忘初心，提升自我，做一名 佛教及社會可用之人。

紐西蘭佛光青年錄製 YAD Talks 感恩與佛相遇 紐西蘭北島佛光青年楊隆乾與張德宇應 中華佛光青年總團邀請參與錄製YAD Talks，與全球佛光青年分享在道場的成 長歷程與收穫，二人均表示身為佛光青 年感到無比驕傲。 楊隆乾是紐西蘭註冊醫學實驗 室科學 家，他分享自己初到海外遇到學業、生 活上的壓力，感到十分迷茫。在接觸了 道場後，在住持滿信法師及諸位法師的 關心和指導下，從做義工逐漸成長為青 年團幹部。一路走來，他發掘了潛能，發 揮了價值，也看到了自己的不足。2019 年底在住持滿信法師的推 薦下到總本 山學習行堂，有幸與星雲大師接心，更 被大師的慈心悲願所感動，感恩大師在 紐西蘭建立佛光山，有常住的支持和關 懷，讓身在海外的學子不孤單。 張 德宇分享自己 在 大學加 入佛光 社 團 後，打開了廣闊的舞台，在活動主持、活 動策劃、行堂、園藝等各方面得到了住持 及法師們的指導，讓自己迅速成長，開 闊了眼界和思路。感謝道場為青年提供 了絕佳的學習機會，勉勵青年要珍惜一 切能夠學習的因緣，朝著正確的方向努 力，一定會獲得成功。

BLIA NZ YAD Member Shared at YAD Talks Grateful for Encountering Buddhism BLIA NZ YAD Larry Yang and Edwin Teoh were invited to participate in the recording of YAD Talks. They shared their growth and achievements with BLIA YAD worldwide and expressed that they are proud to be a part of YAD. Larry Yang is a registered Medical Laboratory Science Practitioner of New Zealand. He shared his experience of feeling lost when he first came to NZ, caused by pressure from his studies and life. Under the care and guidance of the Temple, he grew

from a volunteer to a YAD committee.

Along the way, he explored his potential, which helped him develop his values, and discover his shortcomings.

In 2019, with the recommendation from Abbess Manshin, Larry was grateful to have the opportunity to gain wisdom at the FGS Headquarters and meet with Venerable Master Hsing Yun. He was touched by the compassion of the Venerable Master. He felt grateful that there is a Temple in NZ that provides warmth and support for the overseas students.

Edwin Teoh shared that after joining BLIA NZ YAD during University, thanks to the Abbess and the Venerables, he broadened his horizons by learning to be an MC, planning events, carrying out dining services, and gardening. He feels blessed by the learning opportunities provided for the youth by the Temple.

He encourages the youth to cherish every opportunity to learn, and success will be guaranteed if we work in the right direction.

BLIA Christchurch YAD Launched The Three Acts of Goodness Club The Three Acts of Goodness Club was launched by the president of BLIA Christchurch YAD Niling Chia.

On 16th March and 11th August 2021, six YAD members participated and recruited members in the Freshmen's Carnival at ARA Institute of Canterbury. Forty students were registered, including students from different countries such as NZ, Nepal and South Korea.

Guided by Kokwei Low, Director of BLIA NZ South Island, there were five members who participated in the Mindfulness Meditation session held on 24th September 2021.

Students were able to settle down and experience inner peace and joy through meditation. The participants enjoyed the session and were able to get a break from their busy studies and lives.

紐西蘭南島佛光青年 走入校園 積極籌備「三好社團」 紐西蘭南島佛光山青年團團長謝妮玲為 成立「佛光三好學社」，分別於2021年3 月16及8月11日，帶領6名佛光青年前往 ARA Institute of Canterbury參加學校 的「新生嘉年華活動」並進行招生，兩次 有近40人登記，分別有紐西蘭、尼泊爾 及韓國等不同國籍的學員。 「佛光三好學社」於2021年9月24日進 行校園禪坐，由紐西蘭南島協會理事劉 國威指導，5名學員出席。學員表示平常 忙於課業、面對生活中的鎖事，透過靜 坐，把煩躁的心沉澱下來，感受到內心 的平靜與愉悅，非常享受課程。

Propagating through the Sound of Dharma Since ancient times, Buddhists gather at the Temple to chant sutras and make offerings to the Buddha. They have participated in Dharma Functions to learn the teachings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas while cultivating greater merits and wisdom..

Spreading the Dharma to benefit all sentient beings is always a mission and responsibility for monasteries all around the world. FGS Auckland and Christchurch host Dharma Functions every Sunday, and every first and fifteenth day of the Chinese Lunar calendar. Through chanting a range

of different Sutras such as The Great Compassion Repentance Sutra, Amitabha Sutra, Medicine Buddha Sutra and Sutra of the Great Vows of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, it allows the public to enhance their understanding of the Dharma and cultivate wisdom.

法音宣流 共作佛事 法會又作法事、佛事等，是佛教為誦經、 說法、供佛、施僧等宗教活動而舉行的集 會、儀式。自古以來信徒參加法會，無不 希望得蒙諸佛菩薩的慈悲願力加被，消 災增福慧。 弘法利生是寺院的使命，雖然接引眾生 的法門很多，然而八萬四千法門，皆是不 離佛語，重要的是，要能應機教化，應病 與藥，如此才能示教利喜，接引眾生悟 入佛的知見。紐西蘭北島佛光山除了每 周日舉行共修法會及農曆初一、十五的 光明燈消災法會，並有應景的新春祭祖 法會、供佛齋天法會、大悲懺法會、清明 法會、梁皇寶懺法會、地藏法會、藥師法 會、彌陀法會等。2021年因受新冠疫情 封城影響，特別將地藏法會、藥師法會 調整為線上進行，讓大眾藉由虔誠誦經 禮懺，領受佛法真義，獲得般若智慧，昇 華人格及增強信仰的力量，並祈願疫情 能夠早日消弭。

2021 BLIA Chan and Pure Land Virtual Light Offering Dharma Service On 13th March, Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order held the 2021 BLIA Chan and Pure Land Virtual Light Offering Dharma Service online.

From 9pm to 12am NZ time, the New Zealand devotees participated in the gathering together with 100,000 devotees from across the globe through a live stream.

Through advanced technology and drones, FGS HQ allowed overseas BLIA members to enjoy the aerial performances online, allowing for an immersive experience. The Head Abbot of FGS Order, Most Venerable HsinBau led other Venerables to chant in the Dharma Service attentively through tranquillity rituals

and chantings. Moved by the scene, viewers also devoutly followed and chanted. In the speech, Most Venerable encouraged members to enhance their confidence and aspirations in everyday living.

BLIA NZ members actively participated and prayed together for world peace in the Dharma Service.

They were grateful and appreciative of FGS HQ's effort in arranging for the extraordinary Dharma Function and Light Offering Ceremony, especially granting the sustenance of people's hearts under the circumstances of the raging pandemic and sharing the joy of Dharma with BLIA members online.

紐西蘭佛光人 參與線上禪淨共修法會 人間有愛心中無礙 佛 光 山 總 本 山 於 2 0 2 1 年 3 月1 3 日 舉 辦「禪淨共修獻燈祈福線上法會」，紐西 蘭南北島佛光山信眾於紐西蘭晚間九時 半至凌晨十二時，與全球十萬名信眾同 步透過網路直播參與共修。 本 山透 過 先 進 科 技，尤 其 無 人機 的 使 用，讓海外佛光人透過屏幕欣賞空中演 出，彷如身歷其境。看到主法和尚心保 和尚帶領眾法師用心地進行法會，莊嚴 的儀軌及攝受的唱誦，令觀者感動，也 虔誠地跟隨唱誦。和尚和法師的慈悲開 示，令大眾透過佛法增強對生活的信心 及生存的鬥志。 南北島佛光人踴躍響應獻燈祈福法會， 一同為世界和平祈福，紛紛感謝本山用 心安排這一場莊嚴殊勝的獻燈法會，特 別是在疫情肆虐的時期給予我們心靈的 寄託，讓身在遠方的佛光人能夠透過連 線共霑法益。

2021 Virtual Refuge Taking Ceremony Strengthening the Power of Faith On 31st March 2021, FGS NZ participated in the 2021 Online Refuge Taking Ceremony held by FGS Order.

Over 2,600 people from 19 countries participated simultaneously and a total of 62 devotees from FGS NZ attended this tranquil and spectacular ceremony.

The participants were from all walks of life, including youth and students, where the youngest was only five months old. At the end of the ceremony, the participants expressed their gratitude to the Temple for holding this refuge ceremony, and vowed to uphold the righteousness to become disciples of the Triple Gem.

FGS NZ Abbess Manshin and Minister in Charge of FGS Christchurch Venerable Juexi issued the refuge certificate to the participants and encouraged them to always uphold and practice the Buddha's teachings as a source of strength.

紐西蘭信眾參與 全球同步線上皈依典禮 增強信仰的力量 「佛光山2021年全球線上皈依三寶典 禮」紐西蘭時間2021年3月31日下午2 點於佛光山大雄寶殿舉辦，全球19個國 家地區、2600人同步連線參與。紐西蘭 南北島佛光山共有62位大眾參加，場面 莊嚴殊勝。 此次參加皈依典禮的有來自各行各業的 社會人士及青年、學子們，最年輕皈依 者只有5個月大。大眾於典禮圓滿後 紛 紛感 謝佛光山常住 用心 舉 辦這場皈依 盛典，發願要護持正法，成為正信的三 寶弟子。紐西蘭佛光山住持滿信法師及 南島監寺覺西法師代 表常住 頒發皈依 證，叮嚀大眾要以佛法作為學佛路上的 資糧。

Temple Maintenance for Public Safety The big drum and bell are sounded on time at FGS Auckland every morning and evening. The visitors feel peace and joy every time they hear the bell and drum. However, the I-beams of the drum and bell were severely rusted, and the buckles started to crack as they fell into disrepair. FGS NZ Abbess Manshin instructed the Temple's Construction Team to begin repairing immediately to prevent the drum and bell from one day falling

accidentally. On 28th October 2021, the scaffolding was removed, and the restoration project was completed.

The bell and drum weigh about 4 tons and 300 kilograms, respectively.

The construction team first cleaned the rusted parts of the I-beams and painted the beams with waterproof paint and a protective coating to make them look new again.

Moreover, two new chains were

installed for the bell that can safely withstand 20 tons of weight.

All had been awaiting the sound of the bell and drum since a month ago.

To commemorate the completion of the construction, Abbess struck the bell three times on that momentous day. She appreciated the effort of the construction team for the detailed maintenance work to ensure public safety.

北島大鐘鼓修繕工程 大眾安全責任重於泰山 紐西蘭北島佛光山的大鐘鼓每日清晨黃 昏都會準時敲響，每逢鐘鼓敲響，來寺 大眾皆駐足讚歎，心生歡喜。由於年久 失修，大鐘鼓的工字鋼鐵嚴重生鏽，環 扣亦有開裂跡象，為了防止大鐘及大鼓 的掉落造成意外，紐西蘭佛光山住持滿 信法師立即指示道場工程團隊進行緊急 修復工程。隨著2021年10月28日大鐘修 復工程鷹架的拆除，這項歷時一個月的 工程終成圓滿。 道場大鐘的重量約4噸，大鼓的重量為 300公斤。工程團隊先將懸掛大鐘及大 鼓的工字鐵生鏽部分除鏽，再噴上防水 漆，最後外層加上保護漆，使工字鐵煥 然一新。常住也特別為大鐘更換了兩條 新的鐵鏈，可承重20噸以增加安全性。 時隔一個月沒有聽到鐘鼓聲，常住大眾 都非常期待可以再次聆聽。當日特別由 住持敲響三次 鐘聲以 慶祝工程 順利完 成，並感謝工程團隊一絲不苟的用心完 成修 復 工程，大 眾 的 安 全 責 任 重 於 泰 山，現在大家終於又可以安心行走在鐘 鼓下。
