Welcome to the Focus Champions Conference 2025 - a particularly special one as we celebrate 20 years of this incredible event! This year we are at the home of England’s national men's, women's, and para football teams, perfectly timed for the beginning of the UEFA Women’s Championship.
This will be my first Focus Champs experience, having joined Focus Travel Partnership as Managing Director in April this year. I am extremely proud to be part of an event with such a strong legacy of learning, development and community amongst our frontline TMC Partner teams. If you have booked your accommodation through Focus, your room at the Hilton St Georges Park has already been confirmed and paid for on a bed & breakfast rate, guests must settle any extras themselves. Check-in will be available from 3pm on day of arrival via the Focus registration desk, and on Tuesday guests are asked to check-out prior to the conference start and either put large cases/items in cars or with concierge.

Karen Carney is the lead pundit for both men’s and women’s football on ITV and TNT. She made the move into broadcasting following a successful career as one of UK’s female footballers, having played for both Chelsea and Arsenal - as well as being the England national team’s third most capped player with 144 caps. As a Lioness, she competed at four World Cups, four European Championships and the London Olympics before retiring in 2019.
It was upon her retirement that Karen made the move into punditry, where she has notably led ITV’s coverage of the 2024 Euros from Germany, as well as being part of the first-ever all female line-up analysing a men’s football match at the 2022 World Cup. As well as these achievements both on and off the pitch, Karen has been a vocal advocate for the advancement of women in sport.
In 2022, she began leading a Government review (alongside the Department for Culture, Media and Sport) into the future of women’s football in the UK - from which every recommendation ended up being backed by the Government in 2023. Also in 2023, she hosted the ITV series Leaders of the Pack, where she conducted a series of candid interviews with six leading women’s international footballers, shining a light on their remarkable careers. In this session, Karen covers what it takes to reach elite performance and overcome obstacles to reach goals - and how this can be applied to business.
A former England and Super League netball player, Charlotte previously held key positions at British Swimming, the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games and Rugby World Cup, before joining Manchester City Football Club in 2015. As Director of Operations and Development, Charlotte oversaw the strategic direction and delivery of operations and people development programmes at Manchester City’s Boys’ Academy. Charlotte took on the role of Interim Academy Director of the boys’ academy before moving to become Managing Director of Manchester City Women in December 2023.
In her first year at the helm, she oversaw several major signings, announced the development of a £10 million bespoke training facility for the women’s first team, and saw the team return to UEFA Women’s Champions League football. During the 2024/25 season Charlotte secured exSwedish international Therese Sjögran as the team’s Director of Football and also announced Hannah Dingley, the first and only woman to have overseen a professional men's team in English football, as the Head of the Girls Academy.
Adrian Parkes returned to Focus Travel Partnership in March 2025 following his previous service as Focus Chair from 20202023, bringing with him over 30 years of Board level and Senior Management experience in the travel industry. Before joining Focus, Adrian spent two years at the helm of the BTA (Business Travel Association) leading both the association and the industry through major changes in legislation, regulation and distribution and working closely with government, training providers and universities to promote business travel. And more recently Adrian has led Performance and People Development at Discover the World –Global.
Adrian also held senior roles with TMCs Portman and Clarity after returning from Abu Dhabi where he was responsible for all sales channels at Etihad Airways. Adrian’s previous airline experience was also gained with bmi British Midland where he was Commercial Director.
Adrian has a forward thinking approach, and brings first-hand knowledge of the strength and reputation of Focus, along with informed strategic direction to the whole Partnership.
Recognised as a leader in corporate wellness, Sarah has been delivering high-end wellness management for major brands for over a decade, including Barclays, LinkedIn, Meta and Deloitte. Originally from Canada, her career began in the hospitality and events industry over 3 decades ago, working globally for well known hotel brands. Sarah moved to London, UK 15 years ago, where she transitioned into the health and wellness industry. She quickly gained recognition as a renowned yoga instructor and holistic nutritionist, attracting high-profile figures and A-list celebrities as private clients. Her fun and lighthearted approach to wellness became widely popular amongst those who preferred a twist to the traditional wellbeing scene. Sarah also founded the successful Disco Yoga® brand a decade ago and is the author of Do Yoga Anywhere, which has sold over 20,000 copies worldwide. After years in corporate wellness, Sarah now focuses predominantly on conferences and large events, where she combines her love for wellness and her passion for events. Having missed the vibrant atmosphere of conferences from her early career, she is thrilled to have come full circle, infusing much needed wellness into the face paced industry. Her goal is to energise often drained delegates with her popular“Conference Wellness Menu”, offering short, effective sessions into the busy conference schedule.
As an international keynote speaker, Sarah is known for inspiring audiences to rediscover joy in everyday life and create a life that truly excites them. Working with conference audiences, she loves how the change in setting allows delegates to reflect on their life from a fresh perspective, so they return to work and and home life with renewed focus and vitality. Often described as“the highlight of the event”, Sarah’s magnetic personality and charisma is sure to captivate and inspire any audience.

I’m Yasmina and I am one of the client reps for the North East. When I was a teenager, I lived in Depaul House in Whitley Bay. Lots of things have changed since then and I am keen to keep improving vital services in Depaul so everyone can thrive and live independent and happy lives. I have had ongoing support from Nightstop and being given this opportunity as a Client Rep means I am able to bring what is important to you to the surface.
About Depaul UK
We work to end homelessness and change the lives of those affected by it. Every experience of homelessness is different. We offer a range of services that can be shaped for the unique needs and experiences of each young person we work with.
Early intervention services: Tackling issues early through family mediation and education workshops in schools. Emergency accommodation: Preventing homelessness by offering a safe place to stay in a crisis through our Nightstop network.
Longer-term supported accommodation: Providing a stable place to call home alongside tailored support to improve wellbeing and develop the skills needed for independent living.
Wrap–around support programmes: Empowering young people with the skills and confidence to build resilience, fulfil their potential and contribute to their community.
Paul
Paul joined Focus as Managing Director in April 2025, bringing with him strong senior management and industry experience. Paul’s joined the industry in 2008 with Hillgate Travel, after a diverse career in Global Assignment Management and Software Development both as a supplier and client. During his tenure with Statesman Travel he held responsibility for the TSI Global Network, incorporating 40 TMC members. His roles have also included the promotion and implementation of technology solutions. Paul is focused on driving growth and engagement, delivering collaborative results across the partnership.
Claire has over 35 years of industry experience. Now Senior Account Manager at Travelport, she supports a diverse portfolio of key customers across Business Travel, Leisure and Consolidator markets. Claire loves to empower travel businesses with the tools and insights they need to operate more efficiently –freeing up time and resources so that agents focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional service to travellers with complex needs. With her industry knowledge, consultative approach and passion for innovation, Claire supports TMCs in navigating todays fast evolving landscape.
Tony started his career as a junior support agent in 2010 with CWT, continuing his love of online booking tools and technology throughout his career to date.
Tony joined Focus as Business Solutions Manager in June 2023. In Summer 2024, Tony was presented with the ITM Tech Innovator Achievement Award and the Business Travel People Awards Tech
Innovator, where he was recognised as a ‘dedicated champion of innovation and a solutions-driven architect, fuelled by a desire to help solve some of the key challenges TMCs are facing and revolutionising the business travel industry for the better.
Kevin leads account management and sales for a designated customer portfolio in the UK. Based in London, he reports to Patrick Borg Hedley, General Manager Sales UK, Ireland & Iceland at Lufthansa Group. With extensive experience in airline sales, Kevin began his career at a Travel Management Company before joining Lufthansa German Airlines in 2002 in Business Development. He played a pivotal role in integrating Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Swiss International Air Lines into Lufthansa Group’s sales framework. He has driven NDC & Modern Airline Retailing within the UK & Ireland sales team, as well as with wider corporate customers.
Ricky
Ricky is Head of Operations at Fello. He has been in the travel industry for over 15 years and worked across a variety of roles — from Consultant to Team Leader to Account Management— before moving back into Operations just before the pandemic. He is passionate about building great teams, solving challenges, and creating smart, scalable solutions that make life easier for clients and colleagues alike. Outside of work, Ricky says he can usually be found on the hunt for a decent beer!
Tyrone is Head of Operations at Easy Avenues, a UK-based travel management company. With a wealth of knowledge in numerous booking systems, Tyrone prides himself on offering a personal service, ensuring all clients’travel arrangements are seamless. With over a decade of experience in business travel, Tyrone specialises in operations and consultant performance, and has a strong passion for using technology to improve the travel experience.
Dani began her career in the Marine travel sector with Instone International. She soon moved into supplier relations at ATPI before joining Advantage Travel Partnership, where she was named in the‘TTG 30 Under 30’, and then onto Focus Travel Partnership as Events Manager in 2020. In 2021 Dani won the first ever coveted Shining Star award at the Business Travel People Awards, highlighting her continued exceptional dedication and contributions in the Business Travel industry. Dani was promoted to Commercial Manager with Focus in 2023, having undertaken a variety of roles within the partnership, where she leads commercial strategy and supplier partnerships.
Sue joined Melia Hotels in June 2022, as Senior Account Manager, Global Sales, bringing over 25 years of Travel Industry experience. Prior to joining Melia Hotels, Sue spent several years at both Choice Hotels and the airline bmi, focused on the Business Travel Sector in Account Management and Business Development roles. Sue currently manages a portfolio of Corporate clients, TMC’s, and MICE agencies.Highly customer-focused, Sue believes in forging relationships internally and externally is essential for delivering excellent customer service, collaborating to the benefit of all parties and building strong trusting partnerships.

Pushing Forward for a More Sustainable Stay. In 2024, our company accelerated action in line with our 2030 goals. In doing so, we introduced turnkey owner programs to help build and operate more efficient and resilient properties including the Water Efficiency Playbook, renewable energy procurement offerings and sustainable design guidelines. Additionally, we expanded our food waste reduction efforts to prevent and divert food waste and re-purpose and donate leftovers.
