Also, we anticipate the opening of The Snidow Museum of Art. Gordon Snidow is the next great American artist to carry the torch in the effort to preserve the history of the American West. Lincoln County is chock full of educational and informational museums that are attractions for all ages. “Dowlin’s Old Mill”, the birthplace of Ruidoso, can be found in the heart of town and is the perfect spot for that iconic photograph of yourself or your entire family in days gone by. In a day trip tour of the “Billy The Kid Scenic Byway” you can easily take

Two of the oldest places that people love to visit are Lincoln and Fort Stanton. Both are steeped rich in the history from the Pre-Civil War Era to the Days and Times of Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County War. Capitan, home to Smokey Bear, offers history on the National Forest Service Mascot and Lincoln County’s most famous Bear, Smokey! Fox Cave was formed by over thousands of years of erosion of the rock by the Ruidoso River and today you can explore the unlimited treasures contained within the walls of this historic cave. You’ve only dreamed about the endless magic and mystery it holds! Entertainment abounds in Lincoln County! While you are here be sure to catch at

least a few of the performances. Beginning Memorial Day and lasting through early Fall you can go back in time at the Flying J Ranch and where for more than 30 years, folks have been stepping back into the legendary era of the Great American Cowboy at the Flying J Ranch. We invite you to experience an evening of great chuck wagon cooking and western music much like cowboys would have enjoyed after a long day on the trail. If you enjoy going to the Horse Races, then don’t miss the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack where the horses run Memorial Day through Labor Day.
