Taking it easy, enjoing the winter sun, cruising through the month with lazy Sunday brekkies and walks on the beach ... old on that is someone else’s life or a re run of Home and Away! I had pre ordered a solid block of at least eight weeks of NO ACTIVITY, but clearly that little parcel of joy got lost in the post! I didn’t realise that winter would see me busier than a flea in a teapot - leaving me sleep deprived, full of coffee, Cadbury and an unhealthy lack of time in front of a PC. I think I have retina burn from screen overuse! Seriously wouldn’t have it any other way, with summits, cocktail parties, celebs, dress ups, naughty French soirées and birthday bashes all on the go. Graeme Lawlor celebrated his 40th birthday with a party for 85 of his friends and family at Zebu Bar + Grill. Friends travelled from Sydney and Queensland to be a part of the night. Guests wore black and white cocktail glam and enjoyed canapés and drinks with the man of the hour. Guests included wife Jackie and eldest daughter Jordan, Malcolm Neale and Alison Watt, Matt and Cherie, Shane and Tanya Struthers, Jasmin and Carl, Graemes brothers, Keith and Glenn with partner Natasha, Amanda Perrin-Sumner and Paul Sumner. Buddies Jason and Sinead Stone had a ball, with Sinead performing a funny birthday poem for Graeme and his achievements to 40. Guests partied on, finishing with a Big Blue Marlin cake for the fishing fanatic – clearly a lot of love in the room for this man. Happy birthday, Graeme! Have fun in Vegas!

On the same night on the other side of town in a classic French inspired Australian vineyard - a saucy little French Burlesque performance was underway. The celebration of 'Burlesque and Bastille' hosted by Cassegrain Winery took place in the Vineyards barrel room. 140 guests enjoyed a little comedy and dancing by the talented and quite 'cheeky' Caterina Vitt and Rosie Rivette! XS Food served up traditional fare, including a red wine braised chicken to accompany the host vineyard's wines. Celebrating the French Holiday was Lady Brenda and Jose (the official Frenchmen) Fernandez, Madame Trish and Chris Denny, Monsieur John and Helen Ross and a host of other characters, including Napoleon and someone who looked bit too much like Where's Wally, rather than a Frenchman! A great night had by all! Another delicious night of food and wine matching was the Grant Burge Degustation Dinner at Rydges. Ninety guests enjoyed a rather refined and intimate evening with Grant Burge and his wife Helen, who travelled from the Barossa to share their story and their beautiful wines. Executive Chef Adam created a divine meal to match every nuance of the wine on offer. My personal favourite had to be the Grant Burge Sparkling Blanc de Noirs … to die for! Guests included Cindy Tate and Charlie Redmond, the crew from Quaylime, Ben Burley and his merry band of diners and coconspirators du jour, Brent Tozer and Justin Cave. It was great to share the table with
good friends, including Gemma Clifton, annual Masquerade Charity Ball to raise Belinda Gibson, Kylie Malligan and Mark some serious dough for locals in need. Lyons, Amanda and dad Ray.
