Richard Schmidt, the new proprietor of Armidale Auto Electrics, took over the business from the previous owners in February. Armidale Auto Electrics provides quality and reliable service installation to the local Armidale community and surrounding areas. Richard has over 30 years’ experience in the automotive and auto electrical fields.
The Men’s Shed is an integral part of the Armidale community. It is operated by its volunteer members.
Damien Howe’s Electrical is a locally family owned and operated business offering general domestic, commercial and industrial electrical services and repair of appliances within Armidale and surrounding area. Damien Howe’s Electrical was established in October 2014 with a vision of providing friendly, reliable and affordable electrical services with a focus on finding the best solution for customers’ electrical needs.
Richard, who originated from the Western District of Victoria, grew up on his parent’s sheep and cattle property near Bundarra. He was educated at The Armidale School and has lived in Armidale for the past 16 years with his wife and three daughters. Experience includes: • Two Trades - Automotive Mechanical Engineer and Automotive Electrical Engineer. • Automotive Mechanic in Inverell, Sydney and Darwin. • TAFE Teacher Auto Electrical and Automotive at TAFE New England and TAFE Northern Territory. • Auto Electrician in Armidale. • Auto Electrican and automotive business from his home on the Rockvale Road for the past seven years. Armidale Auto Electrics is located behind 215 Mann Street and can offer most electrical services, especially alternator and starter motor repair or replacement. Richard intends to build up suitable stock to enable his motto “Keeping you on the move”. Another service provided is auto electrical fault finding and repair, as well as installation of various accessories such as driving lights, trailer brake units and dual battery set ups.

The Shed provides: • A place where men feel at home with other men • A place to learn and do woodwork and joinery • A place where men can provide services to the community • Programmes to help the disabled and disadvantaged • A programme for women to do joinery work • A rock cutting facility for lapidary enthusiasts • Information and programmes on men’s health The Shed offers programmes to help men with spare time who need social time with other men. Woodworking is not essential! We are adaptable to a range of crafts and hobbies. Our club room is used as an art studio. We encourage carers, partners and other organisations to talk to us about how our facilities and volunteers can help men to develop their talents and interests, to enjoy the company of other men and contribute to the Armidale community. The shed is known for the speciality timbers that we have, our capacity to fix things and solve problems. Sometimes we get to make something beautiful, and we have some fabulous wooden toys. Owner operator Damien Howe is an electrical and appliance technician who has extensive experience in all aspects of domestic, commercial and industrial electrical work. Damien commenced his trade working with one of the largest electrical services on the Sunshine Coast in Noosa before returning to Armidale and working for a private company and then spent three years at the Armidale Rural Referral Hospital as the Plant Electrician. Damien Howe’s Electrical provide a range of services to real estates, businesses and private clientele, including electrical maintenance, fault repairs, data networking, TV systems, intercoms, plant maintenance to new installations, renovations, test and tag, and split system and air conditioner installations.
