Specialist in skin cancer You often find it best to deal with a specialist, and it’s no different for the checks, diagnosis, treatment and management of skin cancer. Doctor Patrick Brennan heads Skin Cancer Associates in Albany Street and is the only doctor on the Coffs Coast who specialises solely in skin cancer treatment – unlike other doctors, who combine skin cancer diagnosis with general practice or wound management. Aiming to promote early detection, Dr Brennan encourages all locals to have regular skin checks, to maximise the successful treatment of any developing skin cancers. “Our services are bulk billed to pensioners and health care cards, and no referral is necessary. Simply phone the clinic to make an appointment. Regular skin checks are the best way to keep an eye on your skin, and if caught early enough, skin cancer can be treatable.” With 16 years’ experience in skin cancer, a post graduate masters degree in skin cancer medicine and an advanced certificate in dermoscopy (the study of moles through specialised imaging), Dr Brennan is highly experienced in diagnosing and treating skin cancer; he is also able to perform skin surgery of any kind. “We can perform the entire procedure right here in the clinic,” adds Dr Brennan. “From diagnosis to surgery, you have the same doctor the whole time, and there is no need to travel.”
