FROM THE CHAIR Welcome to Issue 4, the first newsletter of school year 2018/19. Thank you to all the Member Schools that went along to U15 FOBISIA Games over the last few weeks. As SCA continue to improve The Friendly Games experience, your feedback is as vital as ever. Phil has collated the feedback received so far, this is available to view in the ‘Event Feedback’ section of this issue. HoPE Conference 21-23 September 2018 It was great to see so many delegates at the recent FOBISIA HoPE AGM and Conference in Bangkok, it was our busiest for a few years. I think you’ll agree Mike and everyone at Harrow did a wonderful job in welcoming us to Thailand and making sure the three-day event ran smoothly.

Neil Rollings built on this with his thoughts of not watering down sports for schools and instead building a foundation of movement within the curriculum to complement development. Are we moving away from say, Y7 ‘Basketball’ lessons and towards Year 7 ‘Locomotor’ skills lessons? This may raise a few eyebrows, but alongside an Extra Curricular programme that does offer sport; is this an approach with more appropriate outcomes for the majority of our students? Does the future of PE in schools lie in helping children develop an extensive movement vocabulary to allow them to access multi-sports programmes with a high degree of competency...
