PGA Tour hopes to break ground on new HQ by July
San Marco lands an ‘old-time’ butcher Cline’s Custom Meats coming to former La Nopalera space on Hendricks Avenue. Cline’s Custom Meats will lease space in San Marco at 1625 Hendricks Ave., where La Nopalera operated before moving a few blocks north. “Our look will be that old-time butcher-shop look with the meat cases displayed as soon as the customer walks in,” Cline’s Custom Meats said by email. The interior of the building was demolished to shell space. Salah Building LLC owns the almost 5,300-square-foot structure, which was built in 1966. Cline’s Custom Meats said by email that it hopes to open by the end of June in 800 square feet of space. The Olive Tree Mediterranean Grille operates at the opposite side of the retail strip center. The city approved a “Butcher Shop” sign and is reviewing a permit for renovations to space for Cline’s Custom Meats. “San Marco is seeing a lot of renovations in the area and is growing with new businesses. The community is very supportive of the businesses in this area. This location has high volume of traffic from residents that live and work in the area,” said Milouda Cline.

Speaking after a media event to showcase The First Tee Experience fam-
ily pavilion at the golf tournament, Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said Monday he hopes groundbreaking for the headquarters will take place in late June or July. The organization that operates professional golf tournaments around the world announced plans for the new building in January, and Monahan said it has been finalizing details since then. “We’re on track,” he said. The PGA Tour has more than 800 employees working out of 17 buildings
in and around TPC Sawgrass, and officials say consolidating everyone into one building will improve operations. “I think there’s been such a great response that we’ve had from our employees and the community,” Monahan said. Last year, St. Johns County Commissioners approved $2.8 million in incentives for the $81 million project. The PGA Tour promised to create 307 more jobs in PGA

“a safe and ADA accessible area for patrons to smoke.” A sign at the site states a 3,000-square-foot Outside Event Space is coming the spring of 2018 with a rendering of tables and chairs on the deck. The commission denied the exception because it denied a companion administrative deviation concerning parking. On June 8, the commission approved an exception to sell alcohol inside the building and an administrative deviation to reduce parking spaces from the required 136 spaces to 84.
The exception for outdoor seating required more parking. Coles applied for a companion administrative deviation to reduce the required number of parking spaces from 156 to 84. The commission was not presented with legal easements for parking on neighboring properties and denied the exception based on the denial of the admin-
istrative deviation. The site includes another building with two tenants, UPS and a retail store, that share the existing 84 parking spaces. During his presentation to the commission, Coles said he had agreements to share parking on neighboring properties at the Coles
