As retailers retool because of online shopping, competition and other factors, stores are closing in Jacksonville. Victoria’s Secret closed after business Monday night at Regency Square Mall, and Williams-Sonoma is shutting its St. Johns Town Center Store this month. Victoria’s Secret is a longtime tenant at Regency and was one of the few national ten-
ants remaining at the struggling Arlington mall. At Town Center, Williams-Sonoma is one of the original tenants in the 14-year-old development. Also at St. Johns Town Center, Tesla closed its showroom and Gymboree is going out of business.

After being closed for six years, the 107,000-square-foot closed Kmart store along Blanding Boulevard is targeted for redevelopment. Miami-based Blanding Self Storage LLC purchased two parcels Feb. 25, the former Kmart and the adjacent northern parcel, for $4.4 million. The land totals 9.88 acres. The Kmart was built 50 years ago. The northern parcel at 4645 Blanding Blvd. was sold by Buffalo Land Co. LLC. The Kmart parcel at 4567 Blanding Blvd. was sold by Equity Trust Co. American National Bank issued a $3.3 million mortgage to Blanding Self Storage LLC. Listing broker Prime Realty Inc. described potential property uses as a car dealership, warehouse, self-storage, big box retailer or redevelopment opportunity. It was listed for $4.79 million. The property is listed by Austin Kay with NAI Hallmark Partners. He previously was with Prime Realty. Kay said the new owner is open to various arrangements for the property and might develop it as self-storage. Blanding Self Storage manager Robert Lansburgh also owns Jacksonville Storage through Jacksonville Self Storage II LLC. He paid $2.25 million in 2013 for the existing storage facility at 10724 Lem Turner Road.

Tiger Woods ready to play The Players Championship’s move from May to March led to more ticket interest as fans seek an escape from winter weather, said tournament Executive Director Jared Rice. But as play begins Thursday at the TPC Sawgrass course, the weather also will affect golfers, said Tiger Woods. “It’s just so much slower. It’s not as warm. The ball doesn’t fly as far and the golf course just plays slower,” said Woods, who has been around long enough to have played it in March.
