STORY & HISTORY

Founded in 1978 as an engineering consultancy, F&M Ingegneria has rapidly grown, becoming a company at the cutting edge. Presently, F&M has taken part in the realization of more than 1,500 projects of different types and complexities. Our aim has always been the same: providing high quality services according to the client’s requirements and suggestions. F&M Ingegneria are a 250 people strong practice, 70 of whom are located in the main headquarters in Mirano, Venice, with the others located in satellite offices in Milan, Rome, Paris, Muscat, Cologne, Beijing, Dubai, Doha, Beirut, Podgorica, New York & Salalah. F&M Middle East office located in Muscat is considered the 3rd largest office in the company chain. On staff level we have engineers, architects and technicians who use the most sophisticated instrumentation. In addition to this team, there are job supervisors and operating control managers who are permanently working on site. The aim of the people who work at F&M Ingegneria is to supply high quality services exceeding client’s expectations. We have one objective: to find the best solution by rationalizing and simplifying the most complex problems.

F&M is continuously growing. In 2002 F&M Retail GmbH, which is specialized in the provision of services to the retail world, was founded in Germany. F&M Retail GmbH has recently established F&M Retail Srl, with headquarters in Italy, for further strengthening its support to main Italian operators of the Retail field.

In 2010 F&M Ingegneria extends the activities in the Middle East region, establishing an Omani Branch in Muscat that became F&M Middle East Engineering Consultancy LLC in 2015. In 2018 the expansion continues with the establishment of F&M Division Impianti Srl to develop the experience in MEP sector. Another F&M branch was opened in Paris to follow some major projects and strengthen its presence in France.

The PEIE SUR Office Block Master Plan is conceived as a first phase of a larger area Master Plan in Al-Sharqiyah governorate that includes port, commercial areas, mixed use areas, industrial areas, residential areas, public & entertainment facilities. The Offices Block will act as nerve center of the commercial and economic activity of Sur.

A building code was created to set out the minimum standards to be applied to the building plots, infrastructure and amenity space on site. The purpose is to ensure that a high and consistent standard of design is maintained throughout the Offices Block to provide a sustainable and stimulating working environment whilst at the same time enabling the diverse requirements of individual occupiers to be met.

F&M has been awarded the tender for architectural and engineering design services for the development and construction works of the new CT02 Cargo Handling Facility Terminal at Doha’s Hamad International Airport. This prestigious project is located next to the current Midfield - CT01 terminal and shall be broadly comprising of short term warehousing space, office spaces, ablution facilities, roads and other common infrastructure.

It is expected that the CT02’s capacity will be among the largest in the world.

The proposed Arcadia Valley Master Plan is set to become the new sought after destination in the region. Unique in its beach front promenade, spacious luxuries beach front villas, state of the art themed parks, one of a kind animated pedestrian boulevard crossing through a populated wadi and lastly but not at least its exceptional smart residential compounds. It is our vision to establish a multi-national attractions that cater to the different residents of Duqm, and tap on to the much needed entertainment sector. It also contains a “sports city” with state-of the art stadiums. The site is approximately 619,195 SQM. The site sits on a plateau offering 30+m receding elevation from the roadside to the seaside with a general slope in the eastern direction. The site has a proximity to the sea around 200m from the water line which applies to the principle of maintaining and preserving beaches for future generations (coastal setback line).

The new Khazaen Central Vegetables and Fruit Market, is planned to be three times the size of Al Mawaleh facility with provision for future expansion, will have facilities such as cold and dry stores, main wholesales halls, truck sales area, shaded areas for sorting and sale of onions and potatoes, agricultural inspection areas, office spaces for operating companies, forklifts servicing, electrical charging stations, vegetables and fruit sorting yards, several gates for customs inspection for Vegetables and Fruit, laboratory for testing agricultural samples under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and multiple gates for entry of trucks. In addition to supporting services, such as banking, a 250,000 m2 central truck parking area, mosque, supermarkets, PRO offices, and restaurants among others. The new market will also have retail outlets to cater to individual customers from surrounding areas.

Vision 2040 for Muscat Governorate outlines:

“The Governorates of Muscat and Al Batinah South will become increasingly spatially and economically integrated, operating as one cohesive Greater Muscat region. Major settlements in eastern Al Batinah South such as Barka and Halban will function as an integral part of the Muscat City area, providing new employment opportunities for residents from both governorates. In addition, major infrastructure investments in Al Batinah South, including a regional landfill (post-2040), will enable the future population and employment growth envisioned for Muscat.”

The aim of the project is to develop the GMSP to provide a more focused spatial development strategy for the metropolitan region. The development should balance demands for economic needs and quality of life, while delivering sustainable green growth that supports the prosperity of its people, safeguarding its natural environment and strengthening communities socially and culturally. In setting the agenda for spatial development at the city level, the GMSP will become the benchmark for future structure plans across the country and must therefore set the bar high.

The ambition for the Structure Plan is to positively transform Greater Muscat, not only by responding to the challenges it faces, but using this to enhance people’s quality of life.

The Oman Air Crew Reporting Building is the newest, and perhaps the most vibrant addition to the newly inaugurated Muscat International Airport. The building is to function as a miniature airport dedicated to the growing Oman Air Cabin Crew and other international carriers, encompassing areas for briefing and debriefing areas, departure and arrivals lounges, Royal Oman Police Offices (immigration, customs, Security) and state of the art automated baggage check in, which is the first of its kind to be used in the airport premises, amongst other high-tech equipment. The building is to also to house the head offices of some of the subsidiaries of Oman Aviation Group.

The building stands on a plot of about 25,000 SQM with a built up area of about 7,300 SQM. The project is characterized with a light gray aluminum facade highlighted by soft blue LED lights that animate all the sides of the building. The eastern side of the building is highlighted by the contemporary interpretation of an arch folding outwards and containing a beautiful golden pattern giving a subtle reference to local architectural language.

The project involves a 4-Star Hotel located approximately 16 kilometers from Muscat International Airport.

The Hilton Garden Inn will feature 232 guest rooms. It will be the first Hilton in Muscat and the second one in the Sultanate. The landmark structure is seven stories and is designed in such a way to respect its surroundings. The buildings sections and elevations are designed to minimize close views into neighboring building which is an important factor in the aligns with the local culture. The views, however, will be compensated by the eloquently designed urban park placed in front of the hotel.

Oman’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry for Oman Pavilion in Expo 2020. The Oman Pavilion in Expo 2020 titled ‘Generations of Opportunity’ is based on storytelling of Luban and its life cycle. Each part of the life cycle allows us to explore Opportunity through the themes of Growth, Harvest,Trade and Use. Oman Pavilion Expo 2020 draws inspiration from local Omani nature that represents opportunity, with the main source of inspiration being the Luban Tree. That references the long trade history linked to the Luban tree and frankincense that spanned centuries, and the opportunity it represents to this day as a unique natural element and local product. The structure is made up of ground floor, first and second floors, with a BUA of about 2,200 SQM. The form is inspired from the Luban tree itself. The low shade-giving branches of the tree are recalled in the organic asymmetrical flowing form of the building. The structure is also characterized with the fact that it can be dismantled to be transported back to the Sultanate.

The contemporary art world is all about minimalism. We embrace a humble presence, whilst still maintaining the local personality; by capturing, synthesising & evolving the Hajj Terminal’s genius loci. Jeddah’s Islamic Biennale will serve as a centre of excellence for fostering cultural dialogues and for presenting and disseminating ideas and practices in the contemporary arts world.

The design itself is dynamically inserted into and beyond the vast tent structures through refined continuity, depth and visual composition. Interconnected multi-level spaces effortlessly flow into one-another, all of which are conceived as intriguing and integral elements of the Biennale experience.

The internal spaces are immersed in a feeling of grounding serenity; the ideal blank spaces in which art can express itself without the limits of the external world. Material versatility, framed views, beautiful apertures and doorways foster moments of discovery and surprise as visitors encounter artwork in a narrative that moves beyond the boundaries of architecture.

Majan Lounge is a world-class business lounge with a total BUA of 1,700 SQM. The lounge has come at a very critical time to meet the rising demand for luxury business resting/working spaces within the new prestigious Muscat International Airport. The lounge is able to hold a capacity of over 300 passengers. The design concept is derived from the historical “Majan” civilization; where the colors, tones and feel of the overall space are reminiscent of the copper production, as well as the natural landscapes of the area which was formerly called Majan. One of the key aspects of this lounge, which is not found in any others in the airport, is the presence of a relaxation pool, intended to bring a calm atmosphere away from the busy airport.

A proposal was made for a boutique hotel plan in the old town of Muttrah, consisting of 18 plots located in 5 clusters.

The old town hosts large historical units that are currently under renovation.

F&M ME team explored some unique spaces such as; the courtyard of Bait Al Khonji, Al Bait restaurant and the reception area in terms of interior design and mood boards.
