It offers a swimming blend of cardio and resistance training focusing on increasing muscular endurance, range of motion, flexibility and mobility,

Chair Aerobics

Mondays at 10:30 am Get your heart pumping and oxygen flowing in this seated Chair Aerobics class. This class benefits the most important muscle in your body: the heart—with a low-intensity pace and set time for keeping your heart rate elevated.

Stretch 55+

Fridays at 9:45 am Increase your flexibility, strengthen your muscles, increase your endurance and tone your body with the 55+ Senior Stretch and Tone Class. The use of bands, chairs and small balls will also enhance balance and keep you in shape!

Water Walking

Tuesdays at 9:00 am | Thursdays at 9:00 am Water walking is a non-instructor pool workout. It provides the opportunity to get the level of workout you choose and at the pace you feel comfortable. This activity increases range of motion with no stress on your joints.

Aqua Zumba

Thursdays at 10:15 am Add some splash to your Zumba with the Aqua Zumba class. This is a low impact, high-energy workout aimed at toning your muscles through the natural resistance of the water.

Zumba Toning

Wednesdays at 6:15 pm If you want to focus on conditioning your muscles with lightweight activity, Zumba Toning is for you! This workout uses lightweight toning sticks and/or dumbbells to help prevent reduction in muscle mass and muscle strength while providing sculpt and tone to your body!

$200/month | $125/month (Before Only or After Only) Registration begins for the 2017-2018 school year now. this program costs $200/month with a $25 registration fee and is for children attending River Dell Elementary ONLY. Mother’s Day message

The following is an excerpt from Ryan Jackson’s book, “Take Time to Stop and Throw a Mud-Pie”. Ryan asked children about four years old to define the word “Mom”.

This is what they said: Mom is the person who is married to Dad and is a lot, lot older than me. And she’s really, really smart too. She’s always there to take care of me when I’m sick or when I fall down and hurt my knee. She grabs all the medicines and knows just how to fix it and make it all better. She knows more than doctors. And the doctors can’t kiss your boo-boo all better...only Moms can do that. And then it won’t hurt anymore! She can read minds too and see us even when she is in the other room...really! She gets up early in the morning to wake me up and tells me when it’s bedtime. At bedtime, she chases the Monsters from under the bed and then reads me a story. She makes me breakfast, lunch, and dinner too. She washes my clothes, makes me food, takes care of all the dogs and cats. And Dad too. She feeds him and washes his clothes, tells him when to go to work and tells him how to drive. She has to because Dads can’t drive without Moms. Everyone knows that. Moms have a lot to do to make sure that we’re all happy. Without Moms, who would do all the wonderful things that only Moms can do?

Moms are the best...especially mine!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT RYAN L. JACKSON

CLUB DIRECTOR Ryan was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. He is a 16 year veteran of the Cruise Industry working with Carnival, Norwegian, Holland America, Regal and Royal Caribbean. He left that industry to marry his wife Susan from North Carolina. Ryan describes his wife as “the best thing that has ever happened to me”. They are the proud parents of Stephen and Kristen.

Since arriving in North Carolina, Ryan graduated summa cum laude in Counseling, earned a license as an Emergency Medical Technician and written two books. “Take Time to Throw a Mud Pie-Children and how they see the world” and almost complete, Occam’s Razor and the JFK Assassination.

Scott Tulppo

EVENING MANAGER Scott Tulppo served in the United states Navy from 1996 to 2000. He was an Aviation Support Equipment Technician aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71.

After completion of his military commitment he moved to Smithfield, North Carolina. Scott obtained a College Diploma for Massage Therapy from Johnston Community College. Then obtained an Associates’ Degree for Criminal Justice from Wilson Community College. Scott was a Private Investigator before accepting a management position at Swift Creek Sweepstakes. He then moved on to a lead position at a pharmaceutical warehouse for Becton Dickinson. Scott has 3 healthy boys, Kevin age 19, Carter age 17, and Riley age 11. He married his best friend Crystal 3 years ago.

Ryan is thrilled to be a part of Flowers Plantation and is looking forward to the many wonderful opportunities available at Flowers Plantation.

Lisa Jones

CAFÉ MANAGER Lisa Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and an associates degree in Culinary Arts in 2001 from Syracuse University. She has over 20 years of restaurant experience as a Restaurant Manager. Her extensive knowledge in the food industry includes, baking and pastry, events, catering, and management.

Her fondest memories are in the kitchen growing up learning from her Mom. Lisa has her 3 adult children Nick 30, Cassie 25 and Zack 19 and a beautiful granddaughter Karmena 6. Lisa resides in Clayton where she has lived for the past 4 years, and is originally from Central New York.

Aquatics Programs Children’s Swim Lessons

Private and group swim lessons are available for children ages 3 and older, with daytime and afternoon options.

PRIVATE LESSONS One 30 minute session: $25 Members / $30 Non-members Four 30 minute sessions: $80 Members / $100 Non-members Contact Coach Brooks Teal to schedule.

Saturdays, May 6, 13, 20 9:30-10:15 am for swimmers age 5 to 10 10:15-11:00 am for swimmers ages 11+ The Stroke Clinics are for all swimmers seeking to improve their technique and prepare for summer competitive swimming. The cost is $10 per clinic, but free to those swimmers who have already registered for the Piranhas Swim Team. After registering for the Piranhas Swim Team, members may use the code Piranhas2017 to register for the Stroke Clinic.

Coach Brooks brings over 40 years of experience and expertise in swimming & aquatic instruction and coaching. He began his coaching career in Tarboro, NC, coaching the summer team where he swam as a youth. Coach Brooks has coached for James Madison University, NC State, Clemson and St. Andrews University.

While coach at NC State he coached two-time Olympian Cullen Jones, who has won multiple Olympic medals.

Coach Brooks was also a member of the USA Team Coaching Staff in 2007.
