DONATE TO FLORIDA PLAYERS
Florida Players is proud to provide an outlet for accessible and inclusive theater, and we can only do that with your help. The arts are historically underfunded, and our funding is continually being cut. To remedy this, we have opened a GoFundMe to raise money for our Spring Semester and beyond. Please consider donating to support live theater.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND RESOURCES
Florida Players acknowledges that for thousands of years, the area now comprising the state of Florida has been, and continues to be, home to many Native Nations. We further recognize that the main campus of the University of Florida, where Florida Players primarily functions, is located on the ancestral territory of the Potano and of the Seminole peoples. CAST YOUR VOTES
The Trail to Oregon depends on audience interaction! Prior to the start of the show, please be sure to head to the front of the theater to place your vote for who should die in today’s show! Additionally, early in the show the characters will directly turn to the audience for names. Please feel free to shout out suggestions during these instances! Profanity is allowed. However, we ask that all patrons refrain from using hateful language such as slurs or any language targeted towards a person’s age, race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, socio-economic status, etc.
A NOTE FROM THE DRAMATURG
Between the years of 1830-1850, it is estimated that 100,000 Native Americans were removed from their ancestral lands and forcefully relocated, under treaty or threat, to lands west of the Mississippi. Another 15,000 died during the journey. Artistic works surrounding the period of Westward Expansion often make light of, or ignore entirely, the horrors inflicted upon those who went down the Trail of Tears and the continued injustices against Native American people to this day As artists, we feel a sense of responsibility to think critically and engage carefully with all material we work with, especially material that references historical events as sensitive as the ethnic cleansing and genocide of Native American peoples.
The Trail to Oregon is not reflective of the lived experiences of Native Americans; it was written as a direct parody of the original “Oregon Trail” game, which was developed in 1971 as a teaching tool for elementary school students. Any commentary on Native American experiences in this show are not our personal thoughts and beliefs.
