Dear Members, dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the World Federation and the Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition, it isa great pleasure to welcome you all to Parma!
With its towering figures Giuseppe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini, with the impressive 400-year-old Teatro Farnese and the imposing opera house Teatro Regio in the center of its beautiful old town, Parma is truly a city of culture, theatre, and music. At the same time, it is a UNESCO Creative City of gastronomy, showcasing some of the finest foodsin all of Italy
For the first time, we will hold a marketing conference ahead of the regular WFIMC General Assembly. A direct result of last year ´ s meetings in Hamamatsu, Japan, this Marketing Forum (5-7 June) is intended to provide insights in recent developments, marketing strategies, and ideas on how to better interact with your audiences
As we are guests of a conducting competition, you will find a number of events related to conducting- most importantly a session with all our conducting competition members, and a conversation with Maestro Marin Alsop on 8 June.
Later in the conference, we will hold this year ´ s presidential and board elections. The election is held electronically and the entire conference is being live-streamed, so you can also access the sessions from your living room abroad (albeit without the gastronomic delightsof Parma).
We trust you will enjoy your stay in this great city and wish you an inspiring and motivating conference!
Yourssincerely

Ruben Jais, Sovrintendente e Direttore Artistico
It is with great joy that I welcome to Parma all the delegates and guests of the World Federation of International Music Competitions, who will be here with uson the occasion of our 68th General Assembly. The Arturo Toscanini Foundation, which I had the honor of directing for a few monthsbut which hasbeen a member of the Federation for 38 years, is pleased to be able to welcome all of you to a city that has an ancient and profound musical tradition, from seventeenth-century Baroque to opera nineteenth-century and modern orchestral conducting, and is full of prestigious musical institutions. In the name of Arturo Toscanini, who we are honored to lead since 1982 and who was born not far from the place where I write these lines, the Foundation has created the International Orchestra Conducting Competition, which will return in 2025 to participate in the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Toscanini Philharmonic and that we are honored to be part of such a prestigious and widespread Federation. I hope you will appreciate what Parma can offer you through the numerous and complex aspects of being a very modern city but firmly anchored to itspast. From me, on behalf of all those who workwith me, the best and warmest greetings.
