Part 1 architectural dissertation, examining to what extent Lisbon's crumbling facades are compelling/ evocative of trauma and loss, considering the city's long history of reoccurring ruination. The dissertation looks at the erasure of traumatic memory of destruction through rebuilding and forgetting in the Baixa Pombalina, versus fado as a marriage of sound and space in the Mouraria. Writing accompanied by own photo series documenting sites of ruination from long walks around Lisbon.
