Every portrait comes with a photo reference and its contour lines A quick description will also inform you of the particular challenges of the reference to further target your learning.
The images can be enlarged in high resolution with the digital version of this guide Your digital version should be emailed to you with your purchase
This workbook is not a course but a resource to help you in your portrait practice It supposes that you already have some technical background
If you need help learning basic portrait techniques, please refer to the course : '
available at: art efembe com/portrait-drawing-made-easy
This course will teach you the fundamentals of facial proportions and human features, as well as the approach to light.
This workbook offers a variety of references to tackle a wide range of portrait various difficulty levels
If you complete it and practice on a regular basis, expect great improvements!
If you want to improve your realistic rendering with pencil or charcoal, use the contour lines provided in this book You can detach them from the notebook or simply draw directly into it If you wish, you can also print them in multiple copies with the digital version It is perfectly normal for the lines to be faint as we don't want them to remain visible after you do the pencil rendering!
Next, study the black and white photo reference on the left page Look at the values and determine 4 or 5 tones, corresponding to different pencil grades Then apply them over your contour lines This exercise will allow you to become more efficient in your observation and to concentrate only on the rendering without worrying about proportions
The contour lines will also work for colored pencil drawing! Use the digital version of your guide to see the references in color, this is going to help a lot for your color analysis. I recommend that you work on a small area of a few square centimeters at the time Analyze the colors and select two or three different ones Feel free to test them on a separate paper
The contour lines in this book show you what is a good line preparation before applying the pencil lights and shades When tracing a portrait from scratch, help yourself with the photo reference and the technique taught in your course Portrait drawing made easy Then aim for a result that looks like the provided contour lines You can compare your result to the printed contour lines, for example by overlapping the two sheets and looking at them through a window

The artist Florence Morin B. believes that arts come in pair with science. Creativity and expressivity need to be organized and channeled in order to produce a good artwork.
Thanks to her analytical brain, she breaks down her approach to drawing into small and easy pieces that are perfect to be taught with simplicity.
With this philosophy in mind, she created this portrait workbook. This incredible tool is ideal for anyone aiming to improve their realistic rendering
In this book, you will find 50 portraits and as many outlines to help you learn realistic portraiture You will be able to practice your shadings without worrying about proportions
