Upcycling Garden inspo You’ve spent hours cleaning, dusting, organizing, and sorting, leaving you with piles to donate, recycle, trash, giveaway, etc. Before you purge, take a second look at what’s there. You may be able to reuse some of that refuse. Here are three of our favourite upcycling projects to hopefully inspire you to add some green creativity to your garden this spring.
1.
Tin Planters
Have you been getting busy in the kitchen? The piles of tins in your recycling bin speak for themselves. Extend the lifespan of these convenient containers beyond the kitchen and use your used tin cans to make the perfect planter. Simply add some rocks to the bottom to allow room for roots to take hold and spread, and plant your favourite kitchen herbs, flowers, and more. Leave them as-is for a unique, rustic upcycled look, or get creative with paint, twine or chalkboard stickers.
2. Cork Markers Like fine wine, with a little bit of creativity, wine bottle toppers just get better with time. Wine corks work wonders as plant markers - just grab a felt marker and pen your plant names directly on the cork, then spear them on upcycled chopsticks, forks or, skewers, et voilà!
3. Plant Fuel Do your tea bags go straight into the compost after tea time? Extend their life, and use used tea bags to help your garden grow. Save them in the fridge, then re-brew them when ready.
