Incredible performance

The new Rocket limited edition line-up’s 2,500cc triple engine delivers incredible performance. In fact, it’s not only the largest production motorcycle engine in the World, but it also delivers the world’s highest torque at 163 LB-FT. Maximum torque arrives at 4,000 rpm and is held constantly through the mid-range, giving unparalleled acceleration and effortless riding at any gear.

Peak power is 165 HP @ 6,000 rpm and the triple engine is tuned to deliver power from a low 3,500 rpm, up to 7,000 rpm.

The Rocket 3 R has recently demonstrated its incredible acceleration by setting a staggering new Triumph production motorcycle record of 0-60 mph in just 2.73 seconds.

The engine of this limited edition carries the aggressive and dark style with a black painted finish on the iconic, hydroformed three-header exhaust run, which delivers the most magnificent, rich, triple engine roar.

The Rocket 3 R also features a high-performance six-speed helical-cut gearbox and a ’torque assist’ hydraulic clutch.

Phenomenal handling

In regard to handling, both the Rocket 3 R and GT are an absolute revelation, not only in terms of comfort and touring ease, but also in delivering a genuinely dynamic roadster ride, much more akin to a Speed Triple than a traditional cruiser.

Both models feature a lightweight aluminum frame and a very high specification of equipment – on the rear there’s a fully adjustable Showa monoshock RSU with a piggyback reservoir, while up front the upside down Showa 47mm cartridge front forks are adjustable for compression and rebound damping.

The brakes are Brembo’s top specification Stylema road going radial monobloc calipers with twin floating discs. These cutting edge calipers are a lightweight and compact design, with optimized air flow for efficient cooling. Further highlighting the incredible specification of the Rocket, both models feature a high performance Brembo four piston monobloc caliper and 300mm disc on the rear.

For comfort, the Rocket 3 R and GT come with sculpted rider and passenger saddles, with unique black painted cast aluminum finishers under the seat. Seat height is a low 30.5 in on the Rocket 3 R, while on the GT the seat height is 29.5 in.

Both also have been designed for maximum seating flexibility, with the option to swap between a twin seat set-up to a single with the accessory infill pad, and to swap to either models set-up with a range of accessory options available.

The foot peg position can also be adapted, with adjustable mid-foot controls on the Rocket R, with two vertical position settings to choose from. The limited edition’s passenger foot pegs can also be hidden thanks to their elegant foldaway design, which comes in a unique black finish.

Class leading technology

The Rocket 3 comes with Triumph’s optimized cornering ABS and traction control as standard. These are controlled by a sophisticated Inertial Measurement Unit which measures the roll, pitch, yaw and acceleration rates of the bike, in order to calculate the lean angle and optimize braking and traction control accordingly.

The instruments are Triumph’s latest generation full-color TFTs, which are angle-adjustable and have two information layout themes that can be personalized.

The TFT system has the accessory My Triumph connectivity system software pre-installed, and ready to be activated with an accessory-fit Bluetooth module. This gives the rider GoPro interaction, turn-by-turn navigation and phone and music operation via the switch cubes, with all information displayed and accessible on the TFT screen. Both models are equipped with four riding modesRoad, Rain, Sport and Rider-configurable – all of which can be easily changed while on the move via the illuminated switch cubes. The riding modes adjust the throttle response and traction control settings to suit rider preference and riding conditions.

AND WEIGHTS

Black Beach is exciting black

Reynisfjara is a world-famous black-sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland, just beside the small fishing village of Vík í Mýrdal. Visits to it are included on many South Coast Tours, including this 6-Day Summer Vacation Package. Guests who wish to drive themselves could instead explore it on a self-drive tour, such as this 10-Day Summer Adventure, or rent a car to explore the wonders of Iceland at their own pace.

Getting to Reynisfjara

With its enormous basalt stacks, roaring Atlantic waves, and stunning panoramas, Reynisfjara is widely considered to be the most beautiful example of Iceland’s black sand beaches. In 1991, National Geographic voted Reynisfjara as one of the Top 10 non-tropical beaches to visit on the planet.

Reynisfjara is around 112 miles (180 kilometers) from Iceland’s capital city, Reykjavik, and is a popular stop-off for those taking a sightseeing tour along the popular South Coast.

Driving to the beach is particularly easy, taking an approximate two and a half hours from the capital on Route 1, so it can easily be done within half a day, or a full day combined with other features.

Folklore

Upon visiting the beach, travelers will immediately observe rocky sea stacks sitting off the shoreline, known as Reynisdrangar.

According to local folklore, these large basalt columns were once trolls trying to pull ships from the ocean to shore. However, these trolls were dim and went out too late in the night; dawn broke on the horizon, turning the trolls into solid stone.

Another legend tells of a husband whose wife was kidnapped and killed by two trolls. The man followed the trolls down to Reynisfjara where he froze them, ensuring that they would never kill again.

So mesmerizing are Reynisdrangar that they were featured in Season 7 of the HBO Series Game of Thrones, you can spot them in a few scenes shot ‘North of the Wall’. The sea stacks themselves are home to thousands of nesting seabirds. Species that can be found nesting on the cliffs include puffins, fulmars, and guillemots, making it a must-see location for birdwatchers.

Surrounding Sites

Reynisfjara beach is located conveniently in the middle of the South Coast, adjacent to the charming village of Vik. This means that those taking the Ring Road around the country, or else those heading to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, will pass it, and are encouraged to make a stop. The closest major landmark is the Dyrhólaey rock arch and cliffs. While many seabirds are found at Reynisfjara, it is nothing compared to the numbers here. From May to August, it is one of the best places to see puffins from land.

En route to Reynisfjara from Reykjavik, you will discover waterfalls, such as Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, and glaciers, such as Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. Further along the South Coast, you will reach the Vatnajökull National Park, with its many glacier tongues, glacier lagoons, black sand deserts, and the incredible Skaftafell Nature Reserve.

Potential Dangers

Visitors to Reynisfjara must be made well aware of the potential dangers present at the beach. First of all, the roaring waves of Reynisfjara are particularly dangerous, often pushing further up the beach than many would expect.

These are called sneaker waves, and they can appear when least expected, even on incredibly still days. There are no significant landmasses in between Antarctica and the shores of Reynisfjara, meaning waves have thousands of kilometers to build.

Visitors are advised to never turn their back on the waves, and keep a safe distance of at least 30 meters (100 feet). Aside from these sudden and dramatic shifts in the tide, the rip currents offshore are infamous for their strength and ability to drag helpless people out into the freezing cold open ocean. Fatal accidents do occur at Reynisfjara, the last of which occurred in November 2021.

From May to August, it is one of the best places to see puffins from land.

Svartifoss, black and beautifull waterfall

Svartifoss waterfall is one of the unique waterfalls in SE-Iceland. It is situated in Skaftafell Nature Reserve, which has since 2008 belongs to Vatnajökull National park.

Skaftafell is a true oasis after driving through the vast black lava sand plains of Skeiðarársandur glacial outwash. On this drive, you will see glacier tongues in abundance, as here we are in the Vatnajökull glacier region, which is the largest of Iceland’s glaciers.

It is especially beautiful driving in this area on a sunny day with blue skies.

Here you will see the glacier tongues Skeiðarárjökull, Morsárjökull, Skaftafellsjökull and Svínafellsjökull and Öræfajökull glacier is very prominent in this area.

Svartifoss waterfall

Svartifoss is such an elegant waterfall, 20 metres tall, and black columnar basalt formations beautifully frame the waterfall and give it its name, Black Fall. From afar it looks like a big heart. It is a very romantic waterfall. Some people got engaged by Svartifoss.

At the Visitor centre in Skaftafell, which is open all year round, one can get information on how to reach Svartifoss waterfall. The hike is 1.5 kilometres from the Visitor centre, uphill, and on the way to Svartifoss, you come across other waterfalls in the gorge.

Svartifoss cannot be seen from the road and the hike up to it takes some 90 minutes back and forth with photo stops. The hike is 5.5 km according to the website of Vatnajökull National Park.

Tour

The whole circle takes 3 hours to complete when you take a lot of photos, so you could maybe do this circle in a shorter period of time. You can walk straight down to

Svartifoss to see it up-close.

It is better now that the waterfall has been fenced off as before. The hike is uphill from the camping ground, but not too taxing. And it is so worth it. The small river Stórilækur (Big creek) in which Svartifoss cascades, originates below Kristínartindar mountain peaks and runs through Bæjargil gorge.

The beautiful hexagonal basalt columns at Svartifoss are believed to have inspired our State Architect Guðjón Samúelsson when he designed the ceiling in Þjóðleikhúsið, our national theatre, and Hallgrímskirkja church, which is one of the landmarks of Reykjavík - Iceland’s capital city.
