WELCOME LETTER WELCOME TO THE

2016 JAMES STEWART FREESTONE

SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP!

H

ey everyone, welcome to Freestone! It’s James here again and I’m excited as always to personally welcome you to this year’s Freestone Spring Championship. I also want to thank you for being a part of what has become one of the strongest amateur events in the country. This is the fifth year I’ve hosted the event and each year the progression on and off the track absolutely amazes me. That progression is driven by each and every one of you; so I say thank you and keep up the good work! As I sit and write this letter every year I get to look back at my own career and remember the journey that’s taken me to the premier level of motocross racing. It sounds cliché but it truly is a blessing and one I wouldn’t change for anything.

Riding amazing dirt bikes, winning numerous races and titles and being able to compete with the best in the world has made all the highs and lows worth it. Even though things aren’t always perfect I feel like I’m still living a dream and I’m happy that I’m able to help develop the next generation through the event here at Freestone.

As you all know, my past couple of seasons have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride… But with all the FIM nonsense behind me I came into the Supercross season ready to race! Thanks to getting knocked unconscious during the first main event of the season things have obviously changed but that’s how racing goes sometimes... However, it’s seeing the passion and determination displayed by all of you that reminds me why I love racing and keeps pushing me to get back on the box! As my 2016 has shown, the world of racing isn’t and never will be easy… But putting in the time and effort to achieve your personal goals can make your dream become a reality like mine. Broken bikes, broken bodies, not enough money, adversity of life and frustrating losses are all part of this journey we love. What makes the difference once the gate drops is who pushed the hardest before the race. Your desire to work harder than the rest is what’s going to let you see the checkered flag before anyone else! Once again the Spring Championship is guaranteed to bring out higher levels of competition and intense racing because the field is just so deep with talent. But that’s why all you guys and gals are here, right? So while all of you are prepping for the races, I want to say good luck! I also want to say thanks again for being a part of the James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship and making it such a special event. And as always, if you end up on top of the box, I’ll be seeing you at my house in Florida this November to have more fun! Enjoy the races!

2016 JAMES STEWART FREESTONE SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP

KEVIN’S KORNER

2016 JAMES STEWART FREESTONE

SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP

If you’re reading this, then you are attending one of the biggest amateur races of the year! HAVE A GREAT WEEK! As the 2016 racing season gets going good, I want to encourage you all to enjoy every minute of these races. Racing requires input from the family, sponsors, friends and pretty much everything and everyone else. Ha Ha. So sometimes it’s easy to forget that we are just a family going to the races.

The Holy Bible teaches us that there is a God that loves and understands us. So never let past failures affect your future in a negative way. It’s a new day; a new year! The bible shows us in Micah 7:8 “Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise.....” Let this be your racing motto and/or your family motto. An example, if you have one bad moto, don’t let that one moto affect

your whole week of racing. I see this all the time, where a rider struggles with one area of the track and allows that one area to affect the entire moto. If you struggle in one area, just get through it and do your best everywhere else. And soon you’ll notice that area you struggled in will be a struggle no more. Focus on the good!

Big or small, it is just a race! The most important thing about it all, is that we are a family. Those are just kids, living their dreams. As parents, it’s our job to be the supporter of that dream, not the destroyer of that dream!

Make a proclamation as a racer, family and team that 2016 will be the best year of racing. Just like it said in Micah 7:8, I WILL RISE! RACE RIDE WIN - Rev. Kevin Cozadd
