EDITOR'S LETTER

What a magical time when Spring is in the air, a time when we move out of the hibernation and solitude of winter, to a world transforming with bursts of brilliant colors, the sweet scents of dainty flowers, the sunshine gently warming the atmosphere, and the buzz of twitterpated creatures flittering about. Such a beautiful time of renewal, and not unlike our world today. With the extra-long hibernation and isolation of lockdowns, this pleasant shift of seasons has sprung hope and a freshness of life to our lives. The pain and stress of a world gone mad, one begins to breathe again as the ice on our hearts begin to thaw and melt. The world emerging into a new type of transformation, though unlike what we are used to in the past, as it will never look the same. As more states open up, people feel some reprieve from the persistent shockwaves we have all endured. While we have yet to see all the detrimental aftershocks from this tragic time that await us, we feel weight lifted off as we begin the healing process. It’s time for joy. It’s time to breathe in the comfort of the Friend. The world’s ready for life and freedom. The world’s ready for joy. So where do we go now? If we had a year left on this planet, what would you do? What would you want transformed or renewed? How would you want to help others in this time? How would you want to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually? I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for the sludge to be removed that’s been put on us to hold us down. There is a way to break free. And there’s no better time to start than today. Transformation is a complete or major change in someone or something’s appearance or form. Transformation can come in many forms. It could be transformation of outward behavior or appearance, or a transformation of the heart – a metabolic transformation from being infused with the Creator – an inward, spiritual, metabolic process. Through metabolism – a breaking down and discharging of old elements and the building up of new ones – an organism lives, grows, and develops. How does one transform themself? We can transform ourselves physically by getting a new look through a new wardrobe or new hairstyle, or we can start working out and eating healthier. Or even change our physical space by redecorating our house in a new style. Now, in a world where we have grown so accustomed to wearing comfort clothes, we’re ready to dress up again, to explore the fantasy and imagination of fashion. We’re ready to go back to vivid colors, the dazzling sparkle of sequins and metallic, the pleasant touch of silk and velvet. Why not get dolled up even if you have no place to go, but it brings you joy? We miss getting dressed to the nines – it’s just fun! Not to mention it always puts you in a good mood, and you move into a realm of dreaming, possibilities and options. We find deeper transformations when we turn grief and loss into carrying on of dreams and changing lives. The rescuing of a sex trafficked child, who becomes whole, free and thriving in a healthy home filled with love. An abused victim finding meaning and purpose again through the unconditional love of one person. It’s someone set free of a drug addiction who no longer escapes the pain through the use of drugs, but rather has hope, belief in themselves, and enjoying life again. It’s moving from being in the spirals of depression, to finding new excitement for life and dreams for the present and future.

Different transformations can last a season, a lifetime, for generations, and for eternity. Lasting transformation always begins as an internal job; the best transformations start from our heart, move to every part of our body, and then on to our outward life. If you really want to transform, look deep within yourself; look at the core, look at your heart. What are you believing? Who are you believing in? Where are you self-sabotaging? What holds you back? In order to be truly transformed and renewed, we must look at our hearts and our minds. It’s like the definition of insanity – doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. We can’t keep doing the same thing. To get a different result, we have to change, we have to shift. Our choices, like a rock that’s thrown into the water, have ripples that can have cataclysmic effects or dynamic effects. We have to turn away from those things that keep us enslaved in bondage. We have to turn towards what is good and right and true. Throw off your former way of living; renew your thoughts and attitudes. Transformation takes renewal, reeducation and redirection of our mind. Think a new way, perceive things a new way, and change your direction on the things that aren’t working and what’s gotten you into the pit. Do the opposite and see what happens. You get to choose. When you choose love and compassion, love transforms the world. True unconditional Love is a never ending, never giving up, always and forever love. That’s the help; that’s the victory. The caterpillar is a perfect picture of the transformation process. The caterpillar does what it’s made to do and is how it was created to be. It sheds all the old clothes, it’s old being, and takes on its new nature. Who the caterpillar is before the transformation is not how it comes out of the cocoon; it comes out transformed into a beautiful butterfly. Just as one who is living one way chooses to turn away from those unhealthy things, they too come out as a new transformed being full of life, being who they were created to be and doing what they were created to do. As you read this issue, may you receive new insight into renewal and transformation, be filled with hope through the stories of transformation within these pages, and have courage to step out and take action in your own journey. You are a beautiful masterpiece, a magnificent creation, and wonderfully loved. We believe in you and are cheering you on!

TIPS FOR SP

FORT LAUDERDALE FASHION WEEK MAGAZINE

5 SKIN CARE PRING

15 Number Five: Wash Your Makeup Brushes Most people don’t know this, but makeup brushes can hold thousands of bacteria and, thus, can give you some nasty acne. Make sure to thoroughly wash, rinse and dry them every few months.

Number Four: Use Sunscreen Every Single Day

Seriously! Protecting your face from harmful UV rays is one of the most important tricks to getting and maintaining healthy skin. Even when it’s cloudy outside, be sure to apply a good layer of sunscreen on your face (and other exposed areas of skin).

Number Three: Get One Professional Facial

Professional facials can be expensive, but they’re a worthwhile indulgence once every season. A professional facial is the key to looking dewy in fresh in the spring, so go ahead and splurge – it’ll be worth every penny.

Number Two: Moisturize With White Petroleum Jelly

You probably already have one of the world’s best moisturizers in your own home – petroleum jelly! After a long winter of wearing jeans and neglecting your legs, make sure to slather dry areas of your skin in the stuff to rejuvenate them and bring them back to life. After all, skin care is about more than your face – it’s about your body, too!

Number One: The Most Important Skin Care Tip for Spring – Know Yourself

You could be doing all the right things – but if you’re doing them for the wrong skin type, then your effort is completely futile. Before investing a single cent in a cleanser, moisturizer, or scrub, make sure you know exactly what type of skin you have so you know just how to protect it and keep it healthy all spring long. Thanks for reading!

HOW DID YOU GET IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY? I DJ’d private events for friends while going to college and realized that I could make a living while having fun and doing what I love. DID YOU ALWAYS KNOW YOU WANTED TO BE A DJ? No, but since I was about 8 years old, I’ve had a vision of myself on a stage, holding a microphone in front of a crowd. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A DJ FOR? I’ve been DJing for about 3 years. WHAT’S YOUR TAKE ON THE MUSIC SCENE IN SOUTH FLORIDA? DO YOU SEE IT SHIFTING? It is so diverse in South Florida. I don’t necessarily see it shifting. Within a 20-mile radius, someone could really experience a great variety of music and genres.

DO YOU PRODUCE YOUR OWN MUSIC AT ALL? Yes, but just as a hobby. DO YOU LIKE TO SPIN WITH VINYL OR DIGITAL? I use digital. WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE BANDS THAT YOU ALWAYS GO TO? DJS? SONGS? My favorite bands are Limp Bizkit, G-unit, Saliva, and Usher. DJ Pauly D is responsible for inspiring me to become a DJ. My top 3 favorite songs are: Baby you got, by G unit Your disease, by Saliva My Way, by Limp Bizkit

WHAT ARTISTS/SONGS ARE YOU REALLY INTO RIGHT NOW? What I listen to is dependent on the chapter in my life, what I can relate to at that time. Right now, I’m really vibin’ to Crazy town, Limp Bizkit, and Tyga. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THE MUSIC SCENE IN SOUTH FLORIDA? I love that the music scene is so diverse in South Florida. Depending on the mood I’m in, I can go 10 miles south and dance to Latin music, or I can go 10 miles north and rage to some heavy metal. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC GENRE TO SPIN? If I was spinning for my own private party, it would be a mix of Nu metal, Hip Hop, R&B, and Latin. However, when I’m spinning, I like to understand the crowd and try to understand their favorite genre.

54 WHAT

ABOUT

DO

YOU

LOVE

MUSIC

AND

SPINNING?

Music is like a drug to me. It’s an escape and allows me to express my emotions in a positive way. When I’m spinning, I realize that I have the opportunity to evoke emotions from individuals, and there is no greater feeling than making someone smile or have the urge to get up and dance. Knowing that I could’ve made someone laugh, smile, or dance makes all of the hard work worth it. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN IN THE SOUTH FLORIDA MUSIC SCENE? I would like to hear less Trap and less mumble Rap. Everyone wants to have a good time, but bad energy music totally kills a good vibe. Like 50 Cent said “I’m not in here tryna beef, I’m just in here tryna get my drink on”. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS? My goal is to inspire and influence millions of people in a positive way while doing what I love every day. Very similar to DJ Pauly D and #PaulyDpositivity. I believe in treating others how I want to be treated, and I know for sure that some days I wish someone would make me smile when I really need it. So as a DJ, I want to be that guy who makes people smile when they really need it. DJing seems to be the way in which I’m able to do that. Well Ryan, thank you so much for spending the time to interview with us. Be sure to check out DJ Sabotage @djsabotage to connect with him and learn more about him.

PROMISE TO A FRIEND

BY DANA YURGLICH

From death to life, despair to hope, regret to fulfilled dreams. It’s always a pleasure to hear stories of transformation, the gallant victory of one daring and courageous individual bursting through despite all opposition. And it’s even better when this transformation not only changes the life of the one individual, but also radiates a series of ripples bringing lasting impacts to the lives of others as well. It reminds me of watching all the different genres of film. The best movies are always based on true stories, where the protagonist perseveres through every trial and storm, defeating their giants, and coming through to the other side triumphant and stronger. It was one such story that came across my desk – a story of friendship, dreams and restoration that would become the teal vintage bus of CIRCA2020MAC. Our story begins with a group of three friends, and one’s dream of owning a vintage boutique. Maria and Cristy were friends since childhood, going to school together in South Miami together. Angela met Maria through Cristy after moving back from California where Angela had been living for a bit. Maria and Angela instantly hit it off, becoming best friends from that moment on. Maria came to visit Angela at her house every day; they were inseparable. Angela had said of Maria, “I felt like I knew her forever because we were just so close”.

FLLFW BUZZ

t was in the precious moments of I friendship that Maria always talked about opening up a shop, a vintage designer bus. It was her dream. You see, Maria was a collector; she had a huge collection of vintage clothing. She still had clothes from high school and college that she would wear to work. You’d compliment Maria on how great her pants were, and she’d

61

On Fridays, Cristy and Angela would drive Maria to chemo and be with her through it. On these drives, the three friends would talk about the bus dream. One day when Cristy was picking up things from her storage unit, she saw this bus parked there. She left that day, but she kept seeing this bus every time she’d return to her storage unit. She called Angela and said, “I saw this bus, and I have this idea that we could do for Maria since they’re going to be cutting her hours back, and she’s having difficulties taking time off. We can get some money raised for her this way”. They visited different buses before, and they thought it was a great idea to begin with this one because they had been on a few buses in the past. They called the number on the bus, and it just so happened that she had it for sale on Craigslist and selling it for a certain amount. The woman told Angela and Cristy about the bus and how her and her business partner used it as the Pink Glambulance.

say, “Oh, these are circa 1988 when I was in high school” or whenever the date was that coincided with her life. You’d respond “Yeah, but you’re still wearing those pants?” And she did. She still wore all her pants and dresses from high school. She had a huge collection. A tragic event of her sister dying from cancer, made her collection even bigger. Tragedy soon struck again though, as Maria was diagnosed with and battled ovarian cancer for the third time and going through chemo. Maria had a very large network of friends and supporters in Miami and South Miami where she grew up. When she was going through her last chemo, they did a GoFundMe page for her. She had to stop working. While living at her mom’s and in hospice, she still had to pay for her car payment, storage, and all her living expenses. The GoFundMe page raised $50,000 for her in the first week. Maria was loved so much and had so many supporters.

They moved to a storefront four years earlier, so this bus had just been sitting in storage all that time. Needless to say, it was in dire shape; it needed some serious work. Angela and Cristy wanted to keep buying the bus a secret and surprise Maria with it, but they had to tell her. The original owners knew about Maria and the journey her and her two friends were on, so they decided to sell it to Maria, Angela and Cristy for half the price. They didn’t want to sell it with a broken air conditioner though, so it was taken into the shop to be fixed before they sold it to Maria, Angela and Cristy. Then Covid hit. And the bus got stuck in the shop during lockdown. Months went by, when finally, the shop owner called for payment of the bill and also said he will have to start charging a storage fee if it stayed there any longer.

So, the owners called Angela and Cristy and said they would sell it for the cost of the shop bill, which was basically a quarter of what their original selling price was, if Angela and Cristy would just go pick it up from the shop. It was meant to be; it was a total blessing. This bus was made to be theirs. And so – the renovation, the physical transformation, began. Everything was ripped out, top to bottom, except of course the brand-new a/c, and redone. Maria saw it get started from that day when they brought it home. With the help of Angela’s husband, everybody’s help, his friends, her friends, Angela and Cristy, just grinding, ripping everything out and starting fresh, it became complete. By this time, Maria was going through chemo, and it was at this time that the bus was finished; they did it the way they wanted it; they did it the way Maria wanted it.

62

The three friends were finished with it in October of 2020. They wrapped it in a beautiful shade of teal, the color of the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) of who they’ve partnered with to help find a test and cure for ovarian cancer, for Maria and her journey. Teal was also a special color for Maria; she called herself a teal mermaid. It’s said of the friends that Maria was a mermaid in one life; she always believed she was a teal mermaid…and so that’s what she was – the teal mermaid. Between the vintage collection and the variety of wigs she wore due to chemo, she always enjoyed playing a different character.

Once it was finished, Angela and Cristy took it to Maria’s place, and she sat in it and took it all in. After that, that’s when Maria went to live with her mom in Miami, where she then went into Hospice. Maria died four weeks later, right before they launched the vintage designer bus. She passed away from ovarian cancer; a very long struggle with ovarian cancer. From there, Cristy and Angela just decided they were going to keep doing it, keep Maria’s dream alive, keep a piece of Maria alive, and really help with this great cause. A transformation and renewal of a tragic death of a friend to a celebration and remembrance of life and legacy beyond a physical death, of Maria, and all the other women who have died from ovarian cancer. They were going to keep Maria’s memory alive as she’s still one of the partners, and spread the word about ovarian cancer. They went ahead, and CIRCA2020MAC was born. The name is a combination of Maria’s well-versed saying “Oh this is from circa 1988, circa 1972, circa 1993”, the year 2020 when the bus was born, and MAC for the three friends, Maria, Angela and Cristy. While some of the first pieces sold in the bus were from Maria’s collection, Angela and Cristy still keep some pieces for themselves which hold memories and they don’t want to let go of, and sometimes they’ll bring them along. It’s like they can have a piece of her presence like she’s there with all of her things. The three partnered with OCRA to spread the word about ovarian cancer and ovarian cancer research, so they can find a test for ovarian cancer. Every day there’s millions of women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and usually it’s really too late for them to get real treatment or for them to live long. It’s something that comes quickly. Angela and Cristy are out there looking for partners; to partner up with other women in business and small businesses that they can visit and give back. Angela and Cristy are dedicated to giving back. It runs through them. To help support ovarian cancer research, a percentage of their sales goes to OCRA, the alliance they’ve partnered with. They also give back by bringing places to the women in distress of Broward County, and they love helping people find hope and relief.

FORT LAUDERDALE FASHION WEEK MAGAZINE

What a wonderful adventure for them, meeting all kinds of new people and new doors being opened. They love being able to go out and meet different people, different cultures, different venues. They love the opportunity to educate people about ovarian cancer to tell them what they’re doing and share their story. Whether someone comes into the bus just to look to see what it’s like, or come in to purchase a piece, Angela and Cristy always give the visitor literature about ovarian cancer research. Especially all the women that come in; they tell them to share it with their sister, their mom, their friends. Just the education that they’re getting out there, meeting people and doing it to keep Maria and their friendship together, to have something that they always did together – that’s the joy that comes from this wonderful, life giving venture.

Maria; she called herself a teal mermaid. It’s said of the friends that Maria was a mermaid in one life; she always believed she was a teal mermaid…and so that’s what she was – the teal mermaid. When you walk on the bus, you are pleasantly greeted with vintage designer pieces. They carry everything from Louis Vuitton to Michael Kors, Chanel and Coach pieces, Christian Dior shoes and accessories, Lily Pulitzer and Emilio Pucci, and some older designers as well. They have a little bit of everything, whatever they come across that they find is a unique piece, that you’re not going to find anywhere else. They look for vintage pieces. Anything as vintage as you can get – 50s, 40s, 30s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and only cary authentic pieces. They look for gently used or new designer clothing, accessories, shoes and boots. As future goals, Angela and Cristy want to grow into having the bus at bigger venues. They want to continue educating people about ovarian cancer, helping to find tests and cures, and partner with schools. Another passion of Maria’s was working to give scholarships to students of fashion schools and fashion institutes, so Angela and Cristy would love to pursue that. They’ve also had a lot of men wanting to purchase menswear from them, so a Circa Man bus could be in the near future as well. Who knows, maybe a Circa Kids too.

FORT LAUDERDALE FASHION WEEK MAGAZINE

You can visit and shop the CIRCA2020MAC bus on weekends at various venues. They’ve been at the Art Walk, the large art festival in Fort Myers, the Organic Farmer’s Market in Coconut Grove, the Lake Park Arts District, shows in Miami and Boca Raton. They’ve parked in front of a friend’s pub for three days, opened up the bus and had a really fun experience there. They also currently have a pop-up boutique in a designer furniture consignment store in Fort Myers. You can go on their website to check the full calendar of their next stops, and you can also book them for your own soiree and shopping treat. Their merchandise is always changing so every spot is a new experience and a new chance to find that extra special piece to add to your collection. There are many ways to join in the cause. You can come and visit the bus and do some shopping. If anyone’s cleaning out their closet, and you want to donate to a good cause, Angela and Cristy can come pick up the items from you, or they can meet you somewhere and get it. You can also support by donating to OCRA on their webpage, which will help them with the research

for testing for ovarian cancer, to help women who are going through ovarian cancer, chemo and surgeries. You can also partner with Angela and Cristy in this venture to help spread the word. After hearing about the wonderful transformation that brought about CIRCA2020MAC and all that they’re doing to make a difference for others, I had to go check it out for myself. What a delight the entire experience was from start to finish, a true find. As soon as I stepped onto the bus, I was received with a warm welcome from Angela and Cristy, and instantly felt the love for Maria and their passion to help women. In no time at all, my fingers danced along the lovely designer goods, all in impeccable shape. My only problem was how to make a decision on what to buy! FLLFW | APRIL 2021

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MODELING FOR? Thank you so much for having me. It's really nice to give back to the community and be a part of this awesome thing. I’ve known everyone for a while, so it's really nice to work with your friends and people that you know. So, I've been modeling over 22 years. FLLFW: That's wonderful, wow. Krisztina: There was some time I was on and off when I was traveling and family things. You know just personal things, but on and off, it's been 22 years. FLLFW: That's terrific. So, lots of experience. That's wonderful. Krisztina: Lots of experience indeed.

HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A MODEL? You know, I don't even remember. I just remember when I was 15, I was becoming more feminine, and I was very tall and very skinny, and I'm sure people were telling my mom, "You should put her in modeling," back in Hungary. And so, I remember taking a few classes and she would take me to studios, but I was about 16 or 17 when I signed with my first agency and started working. I don't think I was thinking about becoming a model; I was into sports. I was a runner and playing basketball, but I saw that it's an opportunity to travel and see the world. And so, I was very excited when they signed me and I started working.

HOW DID YOU LEARN TO BECOME A MODEL? YOU SAID THAT YOUR MOM PUT YOU IN SOME CLASSES AND STUDIO, WAS THAT YOUR MAIN WAY? Yeah, so it was back in the early 2000s... Sorry, like 19 something, and it was very different. It was so, so different. Of course, there was posing, but fashion shows, it was sometimes five, six, seven people all at once on stage. And we had to learn all this choreography. It took like two or three days sometimes. So, it was a very different style, a very different way of modeling. And so now it's so simple, you just walk on the runway alone, boom, turn, that's it, you come back. Like in New York Fashion Week or Milan Fashion Week, you didn't do anything. You literally just walk down and stop and then turn around. And so yeah, I was taking classes and learn how to pose and learning about makeup. But I feel like these days they don't do these things. There is no guidance for new models so this is something that maybe I'm going to get into later on, to teach young girls or new models, how to get ready for a casting. To do's and not to do's. Because I wish I had more guidance in the beginning, but I feel like these days, there's nothing really. Unless you become a star and then you have a manager, and they do everything for you. But, if you're just a starting out model, you really need to watch out what you're doing and how you prepare for a job or a casting.

FLLFW: Well, that's wonderful that you really want to step into a mentorship role, to teach and give your wisdom about your experiences, and how to really lift others up and be able to help them prosper and be successful in what they do. So that's wonderful. Krisztina: I'm glad we're talking; it gives me some ideas. DO YOU HAVE A ROUTINE THAT YOU DO BEFORE EVERY JOB, AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO PREPARE FOR IT? It's not before the job, it's really a lifestyle. I do have routines, morning routines and I have what I eat - I usually eat the same things, lots of fruits and vegetables, oatmeal, working out, taking care of my mind, body, soul. The balance is very important; it's not just for modeling, it's anywhere in life. If you want to live a happy and fulfilled life, it takes some work. So, it's like meditating, doing yoga, exercising, eating right, sleeping enough, drinking water. Those are the things. But yeah, I mean, maybe if there's a photo shoot, I don't really eat breakfast. So, I just have my elixir super food drink, and my mushroom black latte and that's it. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT MODELING? Creativity. That I get to practice my creativity, even if they have a vision there's always room for your personality. Also traveling and meeting new, amazing people. The vibe is just so, so good. I'm so high after a job, my adrenaline is so high that I could fly. It's really a fun thing to do. WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME OF YOUR HARDEST STRUGGLES IN YOUR CAREER? The hardest struggles... I feel like sometimes, it's like, it doesn't matter how good you are, it's the look. You hear those stories, oh, Naomi Campbell was super mean, and she would hit someone or whatever, or Kate Moss doing drugs or whatever. They're still being hired. So it doesn't matter really how good you are you always show up on time, you're always punctual. In the long run, they're going to know that you're always reliable, and they can always call you. But it's kind of disappointing in clients or people. I don't know how to say it. Is that it's the look that sells. People don't care what the girl's doing; if she looks good, that's it. So, find your niche and really knowing yourself is very important. And sometimes, you get in situations that's not the best, with clients or just the job. Just stay focused, stay centered and push through. That's it.

FLLFW: Yes, absolutely. I could imagine aligning with people who have similar visions to you would help as well, I would think. Krisztina: Yeah, of course. But sometime when you get a booking, you don't even know where you're going. Literally every day it's just like, okay this is where you’re meeting, and then you do the job. And so, you don't really know. I mean you have some guidelines, but sometimes there's nothing; you just show up and you're like, "Okay, here I am. What are we doing today?” You have pros and cons for that. FLLFW: Yeah, the unknown for sure. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE MODELING JOBS THAT YOU'VE DONE? Favorite modeling jobs - I love all of it. I don't know, I can't really... I mean when I was in my early career, I was all over in Italy. I was working in Milan, so those were very different days. I did a commercial with the people for Bud Light - that was fun. It was a lot of fun. I also did last year's Superbowl commercial, so that was really fun. FLLFW: That would be fun. Krisztina: So, I don't know, it's hard to remember. I had so many jobs. All the movies were fun, being on a big set with Bruce Willis, or when we were shooting Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr. and the cast; it was really cool. So, it's all fun. DO YOU PREFER A PARTICULAR JOB OVER ANOTHER? FOR INSTANCE, RUNWAY OR COMMERCIAL, LOOK BOOKS, AD CAMPAIGNS, FILM, MUSIC VIDEOS? AND IF SO, WHY? I mean, commercial is the best because you get the... How do you say, the residual income; it's like, every time it plays, you get paid. Those are the best. But those are long, long, long hours. It's a lot of sitting around, and then you work, and then you're sitting around, and then you work. So, for that, that pays the most. I like that. But for the creativity, I love photoshoots. I do like fashion shows too, but it's not... unfortunately, this is not the same. Yeah, like Milan, those shows are just amazing and all the parties after. Those were fun, but it's not happening anymore. FLLFW: Right, right. Yeah, the industry has definitely taken a different turn at this point. Krisztina: I mean the whole world, right? It's changing. FLLFW: Oh, absolutely. It really is.

Take care of yourself, be healthy, and always believe you can be successful in anything you truly want.

WHO DO YOU LOOK TO FOR INSPIRATION? Who do I look for inspiration? All over. Everywhere I go, I'm getting inspired. I take walks, or look at YouTube videos, or just reading things. I get inspired every day. If you just try and go with the flow of life, the synchronicities are going to be just amazing. And if you take the time to realize them, then it's just magical. So, if you have the least resistance, your life is wonderful. And so, I'm just... like for example, cutting my hair. I was like, okay, I'm ready for a big change, but I wasn't sure what, and my agent tells me, "Hey, there's a job, and they might shave your head,". I'm like, "Okay, I'll do it." She's says, "Are you sure?", and I say, "Are you going to book me jobs?". She's like, "Yeah", so I say, "Okay, let's do it." I just turned 40, so I'm thinking this is a perfect time to have a different look and just reinvent myself. And so far, so good, I enjoy it. It's going to grow it back, but I'm just enjoying the process.

THAT WAS ANOTHER QUESTION THAT I HAD... THIS ISSUE IS ABOUT RENEWAL AND TRANSFORMATION. SO, CUTTING YOUR HAIR - THAT IS A BIG TRANSFORMATION. HOW HAVE YOU SEEN THAT TRANSFORMATION PROCESS HAPPENING IN YOUR LIFE? LIKE CUTTING YOUR HAIR, HOW

HAS THAT REALLY AFFECTED YOUR LIFE? WHAT HAVE YOU NOTICED, AND WHAT HAVE YOU GOTTEN OUT OF IT? Well, it was almost like the process of self-development, learning about myself. We're all changing; our whole body changes every seven years from the last. And it was just like, okay, I felt like it's old energy, and I just wanted a new start. The life that we had before this pandemic, it's never going to be the same, like never. It's just going to be different, way better. I know it, I feel it. And it's just helped me not being attached to things, letting go of attachments. We feel like our looks are who we are, but it's not true you know?

And so, when you look in the mirror, we need to let go of attachments over our looks and really focus on who we are. And so, this was helping me, and this was the most liberating feeling ever. Literally the shave, it was shining. And I was like, whoa, this is so cool! Everyone should try this once; really it was so amazing. And it gave me actually more confidence. And the thing is like, hey I don't care what people think; this is how I feel. And if you don't like it, then you don't like it. You can keep going, you know? But yeah, it's really like letting go of things and the attachment, and just reinvent yourself and try new things because life is so short. FLLFW: Right, absolutely. And you definitely get a new perspective of yourself. Krisztina: Oh yeah a hundred percent. And you get to try new things, new makeup, new wardrobe. Like the whole thing, it's just cool. FLLFW: Yeah. That is cool. Well, it was very bold and courageous of you I must say. Leading the way. Krisztina: I must say that some people were concerned about my health, which was really nice, I didn't even think of that. FLLFW: Oh, right. Yes, absolutely I can see that. You certainly gotten to see all those people around you that are speaking into you, that's wonderful. SO WHAT GOALS DO YOU HAVE OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE? I have lots of goals. So, besides modeling, I'm a health and wellness coach, so I would love to have a health and wellness center, where there's different healing modalities, all holistic. From Reiki to Theta Healing, to Kinesiology, Nutritionist, everything that helps you to heal your trauma; whatever you have, weight loss, anything that you need. I feel like with my health journey, unfortunately, Western medicine wasn't an answer. So that turned me to this side of healing, and I find that this is so wonderful and I keep learning every day. So, this is one of my goals.

I also would love to become a mother, so I really hope that next year we're going to expand our family and we're going to have a baby. And bring my mom over from Hungary, so she's going to be here with us. And hopefully some traveling. I would love to go to Costa Rica, and Hawaii, Panama. So, these are the goals and whatever life brings along this way, then I welcome it and just live it, because everything is for a reason and it's divine timing. So, you cannot pass your divine timing; everything will happen that has to happen. FLLFW: Well, that's wonderful. I'm excited to see what you do and what your life looks like for the next year or a couple years. It's really exciting. Krisztina: Thank you. HOW DO YOU LIKE TO PUSH YOURSELF TO GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL? Oh, well, I feel like I need some people that push me. I mean I push myself to; I'm a Virgo, so I'm a perfectionist and I tend to be a little hard on myself. And I have high expectations of myself and from others. As my husband says, "You're doing more than anyone." But I love listening to Abraham Hick; I love listening to meditations from Joe Dispenza, and everything that just gets me better and in a higher vibration and just keep achieving more things. I love it. Books, podcasts, anything. I actually stepped into a women's circle, and so I have some like-minded people, and we always work on more to inspire, help and support each other to achieve our goals and dreams. Because, you know, life is like a roller coaster. One day it's good, and one day it's bad. And so, you need support; and especially with these changing times, if you don't have a support, it's not easy. I see so many people that are awakening, and they don't have the support, they don't have the tribe that they feel comfortable with, and they have so many questions. And their surroundings are not there yet, and they're lost. So, we invite those people to join us, and we help each other and we gather. And if you're not around, then we do Zoom calls and we just hold space for each other. This is how I deal with life. FLLFW: Yes, having that community and accountability, and just encouragement is so essential. Krisztina: It's very essential. FLLFW: Us being in all this isolation, it's just having that community support is even more important nowadays. Krisztina: Yeah, and really you don't even realize sometime when you're in it, then you're like, whoa. FLLFW: Yeah, you're just going down the hole. Krisztina: Exactly, exactly.

THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER, YOU'VE TALKED ABOUT SOME CHANGES IN THE MODELING AND THE FASHION INDUSTRY THAT YOU'VE SEEN. HOW HAVE YOU STAYED CURRENT WITH THE TIMES AND STAYED RELEVANT TO THE INDUSTRY? HOW DO YOU STAY FLEXIBLE TO FIT INTO WHERE THE INDUSTRY IS GOING AND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE? .

FORT LAUDERDALE FASHION WEEK MAGAZINE

Just watch what's happening. I have a few agencies, and they keep us updated on what's happening. But it's basically like everywhere, with the mask and with the vaccines. Everything is more demanding and it's just a lot of changes, and I'm trying to go with it, but I'm not sure if it's worked for me. I'm not into the vaccines, and so I'm trying to work my way around it. So, we'll see how long this will last. I mean, thank God I'm here in Florida so there's not really... This is the best place to be so I'm very grateful. FLLFW: Yes, we're very blessed to be here. Krisztina: I'm very grateful. Very blessed, yes. Yeah exactly, and so we'll see where it goes. I keep hearing that with my age, I'm in a different age range, it's different everything. And so, I'm just looking forward to where life takes me; I'm open. I'm not saying no to a job; if they call me, I show up and I do my research about a company and what it stands for. I'm trying to get into more sustainable fashion. I don't have the luxury to say no to jobs, but this is my goal. I mean on environment as well... Just educate people on how to live a sustainable life. It’s actually on my page, on my Instagram page (@thekokidaro), if you guys want to check it out. And we need to take care of ourselves; we need to take care of our planet, our surroundings. I want to use my resources to reach out and change people's beliefs. I hope that with the modeling, how it's changing and a lot of models getting together, it's like a movement in New York, and I want to link with them and start something here in Florida. I really want to stir the wheel a little bit, not just wait around and see what happens. But I feel like, this is the time to use my resources and my audience to make a change in the world. FLLFW: Absolutely, yes. Oh, that's really exciting. I look forward to that, new chapters, right? Krisztina: Yeah. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR THOSE LOOKING TO BECOME A MODEL? You got to have thick skin, don't take things personal. Have a very strong, grounding mindset and don't one hundred percent rely on modeling. Have something else that's going for you, because anything can happen. And this is not something that has constant income, unless you become a name and you make so much money. It's always good to have something on the side. So, keep studying; I'm not saying college is a must, but do your studying, educate yourself, learn about everything, be curious and just know who you are. Stand your ground and stand up for yourself, and have a good agency. And take care of your skin, take care of your body, take care of your mind. Stay in shape, have a strong, strong mind that anything can happen. The jobs are unpredictable and so just have a good support system as well. Good friends, good family, stay humble and always smile and just make people happy on set or whatever the job is. Create a good atmosphere. FLLFW: That’s wonderful. They will very much appreciate that; I know I do.

WHEN SOMEONE LOOKS AT YOUR PHOTOS, WHAT EMOTIONS DO YOU WANT TO STIR WITHIN THEM, AND HOW DO YOU WANT TO IMPACT THEM?

Well, every job is different. I just did a photoshoot with the stylist that just styled my hair, and so it was so different than I've done before. It was more provocative, more sexual, showing more skin. And looking back at the photos, I feel like it just paints a totally different picture of who I am and how I am. And so sometimes the job requires that; if it resonates with you, do it. But I want to show the creativity. And I feel like it shows usually, but I'm keeping them more classy and I have adapted. And so, I guess this is what my pictures show, but I don't really have an intention. I'm just flowing when I'm in front of a camera; it's the chemistry, it depends on who is behind the camera. And it will show; if the photographer is engaging and we have a good chemistry, we create magic. And so, I have to be comfortable in order to do that. But yeah, every environment and every job is different. Depends on what you're wearing. FLLFW: Right, absolutely. Well thank you so much for answering these questions. I really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to sit down with me. And just hearing you and your story, I’m excited to see where you go. YOU MENTIONED YOUR IG PAGE, SO HOW CAN PEOPLE REACH OUT TO YOU OR SEE YOUR WORK, CONNECT WITH YOU? So on my Instagram (@thekokidaro), there is a link tree. When you click on it, it's going to take you to the link tree page, and you can see everything that I'm up to. My modeling portfolio, my coaching website, the non-profit organization called The 79th Street “Cause”way, everything that I'm into, the products that I'm a brand ambassador for. So, you're going to see everything that I'm passionate about. FLLFW: Awesome. Well, thank you so much. Krisztina: Thank you so much for having me. This was so much fun. FLLFW: Thank you, Krisztina, it was wonderful. We can't wait to see your pictures out on fashion week and in our April and July issues, and we’re getting revved up for fashion week! Krisztina: Yay, me too. I will see you at the fashion show! FLLFW: Yes, definitely. I will be there for sure. So excited for FLLFW coming this summer in July!

"Correlation between fashion and mental health" FORT LAUDERDALE FASHION WEEK MAGAZINE

by Ariana De Stefano

There’s something to be said about that feeling you get when you put on that perfect fit that truly emulates you to take on the day. It can be as simple as your favorite jeans and band-T, or as bouncy as a cow print dress and that matching scrunchie. There really is more to the correlation of your personal clothing choices with your mental health than you think. Without even having to think about it, our style choices reflect how others perceive us, and even how we perceive ourselves. Only recently has discussing mental health issues been able to be openly talked about, but they’ve always been prevalent. There’s been obvious changes to society generationally, economically, socially and so on, and of course there’s been elevated factors that might cause more people to suffer from their mental health. The truth is these people have been living as prisoners inside their own body, unaware that its more normal and common than you think. Psychiatrists are said to be able to infer changes in mood from changes in their patients clothing. When you get a new outfit, whether it be for an event coming up or just to splurge on yourself, an outfit that truly suits you, that’s personalized by your style gives you a little boost of confidence and makes you feel good about yourself. In hindsight, you think about how truly subtle that gesture to yourself can impact your mindset. And it’s not ever conducive upon the factors of pricing or brands; rather it communicates many things about that person, our interests, who we are, what mood we're in today, and the ability to put things together that make us unique. Dress and wardrobe education is necessary for empowering people to choose the clothing items to look and feel their best. It can also be mentioned that our appearance and how much effort we may or may have to put in can reflect how our mental health is doing. Loss of motivation can sometimes reflect on our appearance and how we value ourselves at the time. Your clothing plays a significant role in your mood. So, with that being said, there’s various social factors that contribute to how someone’s appearance is perceived; in fact, withdrawal should definitely be looked at socially and physiologically. .

75 Fashion as a conscious choice can be multipurpose; we can visually disrupt oppressive environments and one’s own circumstances. The process of how you select outfits has the power to mirror your emotional state/wellness. It’s also not always what you wear, but how you wear it, and some people just lack the education because they’ve simply never been taught. Your style and fashion is your art, and no one can take that from you. The negative impacts on the consumer due to the emulation from the fashion industry and those in it, can be catastrophic. Being that I’m 5’2”, on the thicker side always with hips and thighs, I learned to embrace my body and found looks that flattered my figure and made me feel good. Receiving compliments from others also helped me realize I didn’t have to look like other girls/women to feel good about myself. From my Alma Mater at Florida State, one of my sorority sisters, Maddie Touma has gone viral over the last year for her body positivity and self-love Tik Tok’s & IG reels. She titles herself as the “Curvy Godmother” and with 210K+ Tik Tok followers and 25k+ Instagram followers, she’s made HUGE waves in spreading the word to empower women to love themselves. Maddie’s trendy outfit collections include cuts and styles that accentuate all the right places, showing that nothing is off limits in the name of fashion. Quarantine was a trying time for a lot of us, and influencers such as Maddie, reminded us that dressing your best self can better equip you to being your best self. Confidence is key and it all starts from the inside out, but that boost and Bad B reminder can always be pushed forward by the right fashion nova jeans or SHEIN co-ord bestie mix and match set. My request to you all is, rather than being intimidated by the social persona of social media accounts that may deter you from feeling like your best self, follow accounts such as @maddietouma and @bossbabe and other influencers who truly delineate an uplifting message and align with core values that we all should be working towards. Onward and Upward for 2021 my little fashionistas! This is a year for rebuilding better and bolder, and I’m along for the ride on this journey with you! Xoxo, ARI
