Digital Arts Danielle Boughen comes to Fleming with a solid background in photography and digital media. Graduating from Algonquin College at the top of her class in 2003, she returned to her hometown to set up her own business, Second Glance Photography. Danielle specializes in portrait, wedding, equine and animal photography. Her digital expertise is in high demand, and she has freelanced for various top photographers, including Cindy Taylor’s studio. She has been teaching for the past three years and has amassed a keen following of serious digital photographers.

Photo Manipulation

Love taking photos but you never do anything with them? Well, this course will give you the know-how to create pieces of art with your everyday photos. We will go over the functions of your digital camera and the basics of Adobe Photoshop. Learn how to enhance, manipulate, distort, and retouch your images and much more. Photoshop: Advanced

The Advanced Adobe Photoshop course will cover more elaborate techniques employed in utilising this software, including working with Photoshop filters, design techniques and special effects. You will learn many advanced methods of using selection techniques, masks and the action palette. Learn how to restore old photographs and perfect your retouching abilities. For those already with a good knowledge of Photoshop, this course is ideal for those wishing to attain the very highest level of skill and familiarity with the software and would be of benefit to those self-employed or working in marketing, advertising or business. (Note: Students working towards their Web Site Design Certificate will want to take our 30-hour Adobe Photoshop – Intermediate course listed on page 11.) Fashion Shelley Wickabrod made her name in Canadian fashion as half of the design team behind Clotheslines Inc. Prior to that, she was the fashion editor of Miss Chatelaine magazine (now publishing as Flare). For eight years she was an instructor of design and merchandising in the fashion department at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto. In the past she has designed the costumes for the Ottawa Ballet’s “Masquerade Suite” and various corporate initiatives including Roy Thomson Hall and the McGill Club. She is a noted “style” journalist and the coordinator of the Woofstock Canine Fashion Show. Her canine web site can be viewed at www.studiopetluxe.ca

Recession proof your wardrobe. Instead of getting rid of clothing that has gone out of style or hiding them at the back of your closet, learn how to adapt and update clothing in order to make them useful again. All clothing can be altered, modified or embellished. Sewing skills will be an asset. Students will need to bring their own sewing machine to class. This course will help those pursuing work in the field of fashion design, as well as individuals already working in fashion to help their clients see the potential in an outdated garment.
