From the top of the medieval castle of Mont Orgueil on the eastern coast, you can gaze out across the Gulf of St Malo and the small islands that sit in the waters near the French coast. Originally built by the Normans, this castle fortification has been modified by various subsequent rulers. The marks of history are visible throughout the island. From the Neolithic

La Hougue Bie, which is counted as one of the ten oldest buildings in the world, to Elizabeth castle guarding the bay around St Heller, there are plenty of things to explore here. Visit the War Tunnels for a glimpse of life on the island during the Second World War and how the Nazis prepared Jersey against invasion.
