Fast Fashion? No thanks.
There’s a lot to be said for life in the slow lane. The village of Liberty, Maine, where Liberty Graphics is based, has remained remarkably unchanged since the business was founded. There are no fast food places, no big boxes, there aren’t even any traffic lights. Other than vehicles on Main Street, the fastest-moving thing in the village may be the St. George River as it courses it’s way through town en route to the Atlantic ocean. For much of the year, it’s likely one might encounter the neighborhood flock of chickens as they “tend” the garden in front of the Post Office. We take pleasure in living in a rural area where we can see, day in and day out, the constant turning of the seasons. Surrounded much more by nature and much less by human machinations, we value the pace of life here. “Slow” isn’t a negative in all cases. At a time when “fast fashion” has become the latest thing, when it’s become acceptable for clothing companies to churn out inferior, disposable garments with manufacturing that greatly adds to the waste stream, we’re proud to say that we will never, ever be part of that movement.

Charley Harper (August 4, 1922–June 10, 2007) had an alternative way of looking at nature. His serigraphs were large expanses of rich color, which gave the viewer a very different perspective on the animal kingdom. A conservationist as well as an artist, Harper revealed the unique aspects of his wildlife subjects through highly stylized geometric reduction.

Harper said he was the only wildlife artist who has never been compared to Audubon, yet his wildlife art was just as instructive—the only difference was that Harper laced his lessons with humor. Harper believed that humor made it easier to encourage changes in our attitudes and awareness of environmental concerns.

Northwest artist Sue Coccia is from Edmonds, Washington. She has a formal art background, however it is a deep love of all animals that sparks her work with a unique style. She started selling her art in 1996 as EarthArt International with a portion of her proceeds being donated to wildlife conservation organizations. Her drawings are first done in pen and ink, then meticulously painted with acrylics. The drawings depict animals from around the world. The totems reflect a deep spirituality, and when we begin to understand and respect their individual qualities and strengths, we realize we are all connected.

“What makes your GLOW shirts glow and is it safe?” We make our designs glow by adding phosphorescent powder to the inks. It is a luminescent pigment that comes from the zinc sulfide family and contains zinc oxide. The Material Safety Data from the manufacturer assures us that there is no health danger by absorption or ingestion. Once mixed with our ink system and cured into the shirt, it is virtually impossible to actually come in contact with the ‘glow’ element itself.
“Why are some of your designs limited edition?” Here at Liberty Graphics we want to provide you with as many of our great designs as possible! However, we have come to realize that with such a large design library it’s nearly impossible to keep ALL of our designs in stock at all times, especially during the busiest months of the year. It is important to us that we maintain our quality; keep our best selling designs in stock at all times; and still offer a wide range of designs that appeal to all different customers.
“What will happen to the Water-based Ink when I wash the shirt? Will the design ‘wash out’?” No. Because water-based inks contain no plastics, our designs are printed into the fabric of the shirt. Over time, with several washes, the design will appear to “weather” a bit. This is actually caused by “fibrillation”, a natural breakdown of the cotton shirt material where microscopic fibers stand up on the shirt and make the ink appear to fade. Because it actually becomes part of the fabric, a properly cured water-based ink will never wash off the shirt. Most people consider this gradual, subtle fading more aesthetically pleasing than the cracking and peeling of plastisol ink.
Because of this, we offer some of our designs on a “limited edition” basis. These designs will be printed ahead of time in large quantities and offered as available. If Limited Edition designs sell out, we can’t guarantee they will be printed again until the following year. We encourage customers interested in these designs to place their orders at the beginning of the year. “Do you offer designs on 3X?” Ask our sales team about the availability of 3X shirts. We do print small runs of certain designs on 3X for our retail customers, and may be able to accomodate your request depending on the amount of shirts desired.
“Do Liberty Graphics’ shirts shrink?” Yes. They are pre-shrunk, but will shrink up to 5% if washed in hot water or mechanically dried hot. In addition, The Universe is constantly expanding at an astounding rate, whereas our T-shirts are not which means that they are shrinking in that way too, relatively speaking. “How do you ship my order?” Wholesale orders are shipped via UPS Ground. The cost of shipping and handling wholesale orders is added to the invoice. We can also ship with the costs charged to our customer’s UPS account number. FedEx shipping (charged to the customer’s FedEx account) can be arranged. Since Liberty Graphics is not a scheduled FedEx shipper, there is an additional pick-up fee for FedEx shipments. “What is your return policy?” Liberty Graphics shirts are fully guaranteed against defects in materials and printing. Defective or damaged shirts must be reported to LG customer service within 10 days of receipt of goods. Depending on the circumstances, defective shirts will be exchanged, or an account credit will be generated, or a refund given. 38

• Liberty Graphics accepts orders via email, phone, and from our website. • Initial 48 piece minimum order to open account. Designs may be mixed. No minimums on re-orders for un-customized shirts. Customized shirts have minimum order requirements. All orders are subject to availability. • Liberty Graphics reserves the right to discontinue designs without notice. • Net 30 terms are offered to customers whose credit rating is acceptable. • International customers must pay in US dollars by wire transfer. Receiving bank fees are added to the invoice. • Past-due balances are subject to a 1% monthly service charge. • Liberty Graphics does not ship to accounts that are 90 days or more past-due. • Returned checks are assessed a $35 handling fee. • Shipping is via UPS Ground service at their current rates. Shipping & Handling costs are added to the invoice. We can ship with costs charged to the customer’s UPS account number. • Liberty Graphics unconditionally guarantees all work and materials against manufacturing defects. We use topquality garments. Slight color or size variances may occur due to different dye lots, shirt styles, or manufacturers specs, and are not considered defects.

Liberty Graphics offers the following namedrop options for most designs:
SLEEVEPRINTS & BACKPRINTS:
The minimum order for sleeve & backprints is 48 pieces, at a cost of $1.00 per shirt. FREE SLEEVEPRINTS & BACKPRINTS FOR ORDERS OF 144+ PIECES. Designs may be mixed with a minimum of 12 pieces per design. For orders of mixed designs, the 48 pieces must all be either light-colored or dark-colored shirts. Orders containing BOTH light and dark-colored shirts carry a minimum order size of 96 pieces, as two different batches of logo ink must be produced. Sleeveprints & backprints are printed in one-color only: Liberty Graphics uses either white or black ink for logos, depending on the color of the shirts to be printed.
Sleeveprints are placed on the left sleeve of the shirt.
Not all Liberty Graphics designs will accommodate a backprint. 2-sided prints cannot be backprinted.
Maximum art size for sleeveprints: 3.25 inches wide X 2 inches high
FRONT NAMEDROPS (per design):
FREE FRONT NAMEDROPS FOR ORDERS OF 144+ PIECES per design. The minimum order for front namedrops is 96 pieces per design, at a cost of $1.00 per shirt. Please call for estimated leadtime for front namedrops. Namedrops are printed in one color only. Not all Liberty Graphics designs will accommodate a front namedrop - please call for information.
T-shirts with logoprints are “customized” garments and are not returnable to Liberty Graphics unless there are manufacturing defects. INFORMATION ABOUT ART FILES:
For new customers who want sleeve prints, backprints, or front namedrops: Please send either logo images or text for your customization request. All orders must be approved by customer before customization. Customers submitting new logo art should allow a minimum of two weeks for their orders to be processed, giving us time to review files for printability and generate approval mockups. For customers with new (or changed) art, a mockup and order approval document will be sent from Liberty Graphics. Customer approval must be received by Liberty Graphics before printing.
Backprints are placed at 4 inches below the collar. Maximum art size for backprints: 3.25 inches wide X 2 inches high
For customers whose artwork is already on file and in use, no mockups will be generated, but an order acknowledgment will be sent. This acknowledgement must be approved by customer before printing. It is the customer’s responsibility to notify Liberty Graphics if there are changes in logo artwork we have on file. File formats that will not work and are not accepted: GIF files, PNG files, images composed in Microsoft Word, and JPEGs.

For logoprinted orders, Liberty Graphics sends an approval document to the customer, which must be replied to by the customer before the logoprinting is scheduled. Failure to reply will cause the order to be delayed. Lead time for sleeve and backprints is 3 - 6 weeks after we receive customer approval.
Front Namedrops are placed under the design. Not all designs will fit a front namedrop.
