Andy staggered home late a�er an evening with his buddies. He took off his shoesto avoid waking his wife, Kathleen. He �ptoed quietly to the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bo�om step. As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around & he landed heavily on his rump. A whiskey bo�le in each back pocket broke & made the landing very painful.

Managing not to yell, Andy sprung up, pulled down his pants & looked in the hall mirror to see that his bu� cheeks were cut & bleeding.

He managed to quietly find a full box of BandAids & began pu�ng a Band-Aid on each place he saw blood. He then hid the empty box & stumbled his way to bed. In the morning, Andy woke up with searing pain in his head & bu� & Kathleen staring at him from across the room.

She said, ‘You were drunk again last night, weren’t you?’ Andy said, ‘Why would you say such a mean thing?’ ‘Well,’ Kathleen said, ‘it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass on the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly … it’s all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror.

Those of you who are planning to put Christmas lights in your front gardens please can you avoid anything red or blue & flashing? Every �me I drive past, I think it’s the police & have a mild panic a�ack. I have to remove my foot from the accelerator, slam on the brakes, put my seat belt on, throw my phone on the floor, hide my bo�le of Paddy & shove the gun under the seat. It’s a major drama. I really appreciate your coopera�on & understanding An airline pilot hammered his plane into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, & give them a “Thanks for flying ABC airline.” He had a hard �me looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally, everyone had go�en off except for this li�le old lady walking with a cane. She said, “Sonny, mind if I ask you a ques�on?” “Why no, Ma’am,” said the pilot, “what is it?” The li�le old lady said, “Did we land or were we shot down?”

And we Gardaí agreed & when a Garda called on the farmer a week later to see if there was an don’t need that pine improvement , he was amazed to see the traffic crawling slowly along the lane.
