INSPIRING BRISTOL

BACKGROUND

We were motivated to start this project because, in our experience of working in schools, many sixth formers leave school with little knowledge or awareness of social enterprise.

With University an expensive and competitive route, it is important for students to be aware of the alternative options.

As a group, we have personal experience of running social enterprises—experience we want to share with others.

By introducing the basic concepts of social enterprise, our project aims to empower sixth formers with a confidence in themselves, and a confidence in social enterprise, that will change their communities for the better.

We also have a passion for teaching, having each completed a Teach First training course, enabling us to effectively communicate our knowledge and ideas about social enterprise to sixth formers.

Many of us in the group are currently undertaking degrees in Education and Business, so we understand how important it is for school leavers to be able to make informed decisions about their futures.

That’s why we hope this project will be a success and helps improve career prospects for generations of students.
